We have big news for you today.

(Haven't played the game yet? feel free to try it here! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/flippy-fish)

Android version

Flippy Fish is now available on Android!
The apk file is available here on itch, and the game is waiting for Google's approval and will soon be live on Google Play!

Big first update

All the great feedbacks we received from irl friends and awesome internet people led us to this first big update. Here are the major changes:

  • Difficulty modes
Want to relax a bit and enjoy more of this awesome music by reiswerk? Calm mode is here for you! We believe this might be the best way to play the game for younger players or people not very familiar with video games. Tell us what you think!
You are a crazy person and found Flippy Fish too easy for you? We got you covered and added Fishy mode! Share your highscore with friends for increased brag potential.
Other difficulty tweaks have been made, such as making torches a bit less hard to avoid in all modes, or an invulnerability window when hit.

  • QOL updates on controls
We added a buffer window to help you control Flippy with perfect precision!

  • Menu makeover
All menu went through some work to better please your cute eyes.

  • On / Off sound control You can now toggle sound on or off in game.

  • Bug fixes
Music not looping, pause menu slowing the game instead of really pausing, negative lives... Flippy doesn't really like bugs, so we had to ask them to go away. Let us know if you find sneaky ones that we couldn't see.

We are all very happy to go on this adventure with you. This is our first game and seeing people enjoy it makes us really happy.
Thank you so much. 💕

A Physics based Puzzle Game

alive3.PNG First time making a game && joining a game jam. So the idea is: The room is on fire ! However, the house owner went to work… :scream: Objects in the room have to count on themselves to escape. Only ONE object can be alive at a time. But it can pass “life” to others when touching them. How many can survive ? That’s up to you. You start……with a banana.

"You really did a good job on making a seemly boring mechanic not boring!"

I spent the last two weeks polishing my game. This is a small timed puzzle game you can finish in 2-3 minutes. Find the correct pump to reanimate the robot by seeing which wire connects to the robot, then activate it. Pump the wrong pump and the robot explodes.

I tried to find a way to make it more interesting so I added more levels, some narration between the levels and improved the overall experience by adding more feedbacks and improving the graphics. Each piece of narration depends on what you did during the level so it reacts a bit on how the player plays.

I hope you'll have some fun if you try it. Thanks to all people who played the game.

Also, this is a list of all the updates I made during the last weeks thanks to all the great feedbacks I got: - More levels - Controls are improved : before you moved the camera with arrow now you just have to move the mouse, it's clearer. - Better feedbacks (Highlight on the pump, emissive material on wires to materialize the energy flow) - Better and clearer instructions - I added some UI elements (Main menu, Pause menu) - I programmed a text system that can be customized to emphasize certain part of text - Graphics improvement (Particles added, I redid some modeling and improved the lighting). - I added some sounds.

Special thanks to Twan Mull who joined me at the beginning of this jam to try and discuss some game mechanics before I went on my own for the rest of the event.

Calling anyone with a VR headset

My game, Keep The Vibe Alive, is just a small handful of ratings away from the threshold that it needs. The game is built for SteamVR so it's a little bit difficult to find an audience for it. If anyone is capable of giving it a go and rating it, I'd really appreciate it!

behind the scenes II - post jam animation (repost)

Little sea slug didn't make it in Perish Alive :confounded: (see this post to learn why).

However, i liked how it was turning out so I decided to finish and share it here! :relaxed:

Sea slug attack animation, post jam

Some details about the animation process~

-skip this if not interested-

As you already know, hand-drawn animations are not very common in game dev though it can create amazing effects! (see Cuphead for example).

While animating something with multiple parts (body, antennas, tail etc) You get to decide which are the primary actions and which the secondary ones. Body is usually the primary action while others are secondary. Secondary actions follow the movement of the primary action but have little shifts in move in order to create a more realistic effect. This is due to different parts having different sizes, shapes or even uses!

Of course, during a jam you cannot plan in detail the movement so it gets created more intuitively. :stuckouttongueclosedeyes:

...

Even though poor sea slug didn't make it in Perish Alive it encourages you to meet his friend, Jellyfish~ :ocean:

Did Thomas get to read the letter?

Hey guys!

With only a few days left on the countdown, I thought I would create a post in case anyone else was interested in trying out my first jam game!

For those of you unable to play it, but still wanting the experience, I've recorded a video walkthrough to watch below. Please drop by my game page to let me know what you think!
