Hi everyone.
I guess it’s time to try again. Let there be game!
I think i’ll be using Unity, Blender and Gimp, things i’m used to.
Well, evolution in games is what i liked ever since Fallout 1 – though there you couldn’t grow a pair of hands outta your ass, leveling up and stuff stuck in my head for long. When the theme was announced as ‘Evolution’ – hell yeah, i thought.
The attempt to make a dungeon crawler failed successfully – it’s cool to crawl then you’re bacteria, but that coolness wasn’t enought to keep me focused for long, so i decided to do something else.
Basically, Existential Collapse is about you, eating fellow bacterias and successfully replicating, but there is a problem – planet is huge, and filled with hungry bacterias, that eat and replicate themselves just as you do.
There are some ideas that i want to implement yet, but basically this is what core gameplay is about.
Dominate.

So, Existential Collapse has successfully crossed the finish line.
Well, not exactly successfully. Some stuff was sacrificed, after all.
The game is here, please check it out:

In the last two days we were too busy (and too unprepared) to report any progress. But now we have some progress, and we decided it’s time for a progress update.
We’re a team of four people – programmer, artist, level designer and 3d artist. Our tools are Unity, Blender, and Adobe PS.
Our game is set in a small open world, where you’re the Little Red Riding Hood, cute blond-haired girl, waving to people and gathering flowers during the day, and murdering them and serving Satan during the night.
The game is about stealth, which is a key to successful hunt. Day/Night cycle plays important part too, since it restricts you in killing and preparing to kill.
Modelling is ~60% done – several types of victims, main character, many props.Art is ~40% done – it’s one of our weakest points in terms of time, since every texture drawn by our artist takes good amount of time before it gets polished and ready.
Coding is ~60% done, day changes, people live their small lives, girl crouches behind them.
Environment is ~50% finished. Many regions are prototyped, like the city, or farmer fields.
Among the planned features is upgrade system – flowers are traded for a better weapon. Goats may also play an important part, but that’s a secret atm ![]()
Some features probably won’t make it – but we’re still proud of what we already achieved. Stay tuned for more updates!
P.S: Screenshots, of course!
P.P.S: Zombie team drinking coffee.
Finally, the game is submitted, and we can relax a bit.
The process was much more chaotic than we’d expected:
1. We tried using a kind of management tech to track the process – it failed. We simply worked, worked, sweared and worked, and seeing someone submitting a finished task on the board was rare.
2. We wanted much more content added – upgrades, random caravans, maybe a kind of quest system – failed. Art took longer than we’ve expected, coding stealth and life-sym systems was already a huge challenge.
3. We wanted to add ending cinematic or two – well, you know. Failed 😀
But what got in the end is still great – I enjoyed working on a stealth game in an open world, even if it’s not as complex as SC, or as big as Skyrim. We hope you enjoy the game we made.

We’ve been waiting for this LD impatiently, but it now seems a bit unclear how the work’ll go:
– Lead Programmer’s gonna join in later in the process,
– so will the Artist.
– the Level Designer of Red Hood world is being boring and unenthusiastic, thinking he did a bad job last time
– I’m going home after almost a year living someplace else, meaning my help in designing and modelling will not kick immediately
Expected tools are:
Unity 4
Blender
Adobe PS
It’s not how I’ve imagined this LD 😛
By the time I joined up with my team, they already came up with the idea – an FPS where you fight guys made of newspaper! Yep, sounds weird a bit, but trust me!
What’s done so far:
Latter one is an object for discussion – would you like to see Pyramid ingame? Let us know in the comments below!
Finally, Truth Only crosses the finish line!
Once I get enough sleep I’ll write a proper post-mortem – there were twists and turns and suspense along the way, so stay tuned!
And, meanwhile, take a look at our game here : Truth Only
Well, that was a busy week 😛
We already had some RTS codes in our codebank, so making one didn’t seem like a problem. 7 days? Bring it on!
Oh, we were wrong. Very, very wrong.
First of all, most of the codes were rewritten anyway. Previous RTS was too different and much simplier than this one.
Crime 1930 features four players trying to capture the control points. AI needed to capture points and fight 3 opponents, thus alot of time went into writing the worthy opponent.
Secondly, we wanted to make a game with shared economics, where one player’s purchases would influence prices of all other players.
This system ruined our testing immediately, sending and receiving NaNs. We fixed in a very last minute.
Thirdly, in the middle of the process our artist suddenly departed.
We needed character skins and fast, so I had to take her place, remembered GTA Vice City modding times and used VC skins as references.
Well, that’s pretty much it!
Here’s the game: Crime 1930
I hope you enjoy it!
We’re planning on expanding the game further, so if you have any suggestions, let us know!
Finally I’m done with the game and I can go to sleep.
After I get some rest I’ll write a proper post mortem.
Meanwhile, you can play the game here: Mirror’s Face for LD#27
Yep, taking part in LD#28 Compo as well.
There are 5 people in the team, only two of whom have previous LD experience. But hey, this time we’ve got a guy that can play thrash metal!
The tools are usual: Blender, PS, Unity, Vegas/Cubase for audio recording.
Hatsumei Mage is a kind of really simple dungeon crawler, where one word decides the outcome of the battle.
I’ll make a proper post-mortem later, meanwhile you can try Hatsumei Mage yourself!
Crandell… Crandell has changed…
Pretty significantly, actually! The game now runs better and has more shooting and explosions than before. Give it a try!

Pure growth and green! Play it here!
