My first time on the Ludum Dare Jam!

This will be my first Ludum Dare Jam, hopefully I'll be able to make something in such a small amount of time. Good luck to everyone, and have fun!!!

Timed Changed?

Almost there now.

I remember a time when, for me in Germany, LD started at 03:00 on the Saturday morning and ran for 48 hours until 03:00 on Monday morning. Now it starts at 00:00 :) I'm not complaining, but when did the start times change?

What's everyone's favourite Theme choice?

I'm hoping it's gonna be Shelter personally - I've already got a great simple idea that I really hope I can explore this weekend.

A few others are sparking my imagination too (Harvest, Corruption & Split).

I wouldn't say any of them are bad exactly, but I've definitely got preferences.

Our first time trying jamming

We recently desided (with my brother) to join or try our knowledge at 51st jam, never done games nor apps but it’s good for experience to gain. My side - artworks, animation, soundtracks. Brother’s going to do coding. Hoping for the good theme thou) good luck everybody, game deving will be awesome! Jam starts at 3:00 AM, we are planning not to sleep))

I'm in - with crystal and SFML

Excited to join another game jam! Really pumped to use crystal again since I found a combo (CrSFML) that is working on Windows. If our idea is 3D, I'll go with Godot, but I'd like to give crystal + SFML a try!

Tools me and my roommate will be using:

For those that don't know, Crystal is a programming language based on, and very similar to Ruby, except it compiles, similar to C. So it's much faster, and hence I thought good to try for game development. I love Ruby syntax for web development, so eager to apply that to game development. I've also built a small wrapper library around CrSFML (here) that will help me be more OOP than the SFML C-like patterns.

Cheers everyone, have fun!

I'm In

Unity, Aseprite, Audacity, and BoscaCeoil

Goals: - Keep it simple. - Try to add depth to the mechanic. - Work with the theme. Also I need to take a risk on the idea but not on the scope of the game. - Have fun and remind myself that implementation is more important than the game idea itself. - I almost forgot the most important one: PLAYTEST.

Good luck everyone!

My Software

I saw other people doing this so I'm going to do it just in case.

Engine: Unity Music: Bosca Ceoil/Beep Box/Audacity Art: Paint 3D SFX: Audacity/My Mic

Good luck to everyone else doing the jam and I hope you have a great time, meanwhile I'm going to try to not have a stroke animating characters.

How do you do, fellow devs?

Started to learn game dev, pixel art and C# programming 4-6 weeks ago. So what better time to enter my first jam game. Right?………..right?

My goal is to just submit “something” to the Jam category.

IDE: Unity

Graphics: Asperite

Sound: Ableton

Wish me luck and good luck to everyone taking part!

Last chance to take the Theme Poll!

What themes did you vote for?

* Currently, "Every 10 seconds" is still in the lead with 116 votes, followed by "Harvest" with 99 votes, and "Making connections" with 90 votes. *

Thanks to the 286 people who have voted in the Theme Poll so far! The top three themes have been in the lead during the entire 36 hours this poll has been going. It will be interesting to see if one of those is actually chosen! If you haven't taken the poll yet and would like to, feel free to click the link and cast your votes to see the current results! (Again, this has nothing to do with the actual results but it's fun to see what people have voted for, and discuss your thoughts in the comments!)

Take the Poll!

I'm In

Building something with Unity, Bosca Ceoil and paint.net. Probably making something 2D.

I have the Guinness and whiskey ready to go. I'm sure it helps.

IT HAS BEEN TOO LONG

Gotta do the job thing this weekend, but I'll give it my best shot nonetheless!

-The plan-
Pre-jam: Meal prep
Friday night: Write a design document during downtime
Saturday: Make a prototype before heading to the office
Sunday: Hopefully finish
Monday: Just in case I don't finish on Sunday

Will be rolling with Godot. Probably 2D, though my art is terrible.

Good luck all!

My tools

Making my first ever 3D game for this jam. Here are the tools me and a friend will use:

Engine: Godot

Art: Blender

Music/Sfx: Fl Studio, Audacity

Wish everyone the best of luck :D

I'm in too :)

Eager to start, I'll be participating for the third time in the Compo :v: Using Unity, Blender for 3D and/or Paint.NET for pixels & textures Aaand, if I have the time I'd like to do all the sounds with my analog synthesizers

Wishing an happy, inspiring, fulfilling JAM to all fellow participants !

Here are my votes.

You shouldn't mix those is the best one

I'm i[a]n

I'm in central Florida. My house currently doesn't have power. Or water. Or internet access. But I'm gonna try to make a game, somehow. No idea how this will work, but I believe in me! Good luck everyone!

Ready to Jam

Hi, I am ready for LD51.

I just created a new Godot Project Template on Github which will be the base of my work. In contrast to other templates around this game is emtpy but the GItHub Project has a CI Pipeline set up that compiles your project after every commit and publishes it ot GithubPages.

https://github.com/bbrieber/Godot_CI

For this LD I plan to use

  • Godot 3.5.1 (4Beta's webbuild seems to be buggy)
  • Blender 3.3
  • Substance Suite
  • Photoshop
  • LMMS

I'm in

I'm in once again 9th straight Ludlum compo attempt.

I've completed games in most of them. The more I have done the better with time management I have had. So looking forward to seeing how this one goes.

Good luck to you all!

Unity

Bosca ceoil, audacity, bfxr

Paint.net

I'm in

Using only the very best organic, home grown, vanilla JS-library, paint.net and sfxr/bfxr from a free-roaming developer.

Looking forward to the comp and the 10 sec theme.
