LD26 April 26–29, 2013

I’m In…

I’ll probably go with Java again as I did with my last LD (24) because it’s cross platform. I know what problems I had in my interface last time, also graphics with no real consistent style. Hopefully I’ll fix that next time.

Java, LWJGL, and Slick-util.

I’m in

Hi everyone,

Challenge accepted! This is going to be my first LD and I’m gonna do my best to complete it.

The tools I will probably use for it:

  • HMTL5 + Javascript
  • editor: Bluefish
  • graphics: GIMP
  • music & sound: TuxGuitar and SFXR

My personal goal is create something playable, altough I would like to concentrate on innovation and theme categories.
Good luck making your games, and the more important, have fun!

Hi-oh!

SilverCM here, or SilverDomination on Scratch, & this is my first Ludum Dare. whilist I have minimal (but developing) experience at C++ & full out Java writing, I am going to make my game for this round in Scratch. Scratch is considerably an API for young learning developers. Good luck to all other developers as well, & may the odds be ever in our favor *hunger games*.

You have probably driven a worthy and easy method to work on. I hope You are not striving for writing a long and sophisticated code ,it just needs to install once and work longer. That’s a nice share I will also think for this.

It is utter doom (and the most common newbie mistake) to use a new programming environment for the competition. Make sure you make one or two test projects with all the bits: an animated sprite, some sound fx, and a song, just so you’re not tripping over yourself learning the new environment going in.

Oh, a LD entry made in Scratch! clever!

I’m in LD26

Ahh,  many years of game programming competitions.  Seems I rarely finish a title unless it’s a short competition.  Can’t believe I’ve been doing this for 15 years!

Of coarse,  I’m in.

I’ll be using AS3 and possibly the Atari 2600 TIA Sound/Graphics simulator software I made for Shorty 2600.

P.s. Shout out for the Ouya!

I’m in…

This will be my first competition! After years of watching this awesome community from the outside I am nervous and excited about joining/becoming part of it.

I started dabbling in OpenGL a couple of years ago and now have a couple of unfinished and abandoned projects under my belt. I’m hoping that LD will force me to see something through until the end.

I might not be very good and will probably not finish on time, but I am sure it will be a lot of fun along the way.

My weapons of choice are:

  • Language: Java
  • Libs: LWJGL, Slick-util
  • Graphics: GIMP
  • Sound: sfxr

I’ll see you on the other side……

Round 1 – I’m all in!

This is going to be my first attempt at the LD after following it for a LONG time. It will only be my 3rd game, the first Being an old school Zelda style game, the second is a Top down Shump that was originally supposed to be a Roguelike for the 7DRL challenge.

Language: Java

IDE: Eclipse, Obviously

Libraries: LWJGL+Slick2D(OpenGL)

Graphics:Gimp, Gimp, Gimp

Audio: Audacity, sfxr, musagi, and maybe LMMS or Renoise

I can’t wait to find out what the Theme is!

I’m in!

Hi everyone,

I’m in for the second time and this time I plan to actually finish.

Since the last LD I’ve been updating dartemis and ported CanvasQuery from JavaScript to Dart. I will be using both libraries for this LD.

  • Platform: HTML5
  • Language: Dart
  • Libraries: dartemis, CanvasQuery
  • Graphics: GIMP and Aseprite
  • Sounds: sfxr

Have fun and good luck to everyone!

Buru…

Were in. 3rd LD :). Using LD26 as our first Java application development. We know nearly all keynotes say not to use the LD as an experiment regarding new languages or sdk etc but to hell with it, LD is the only time we finish our creations (or near enough).  Any way as we have stated before were fed up with the lack of control with unity, true it gives some back but it also takes too much away at the same time. Were really interested in Android development so being a bit backwards (and im not going to score any points with this decision) were going to release the android version first then follow up with a port to web and standalone.

Here’s the Vitals:

  • Platform: Android
  • Language: Java
  • Graphics: pyxel edit, pickle, photoshop
  • Sounds(depends on theme): audacity, bfxr, autotracker-BU, virtual keyboard?, guitar?, bongo?

bring on the good times :) buru…

I was reading it and going, “Not Bad”, then I noticed the andriod comment. Thats a bold move, good luck getting upvotes with that technique 😛 Power to Java Devs!

I’m in (First Timer)

I have been following LD for quite a while now, I just never really joined because I am more Web Development based (HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, etc) then any language that I could really make a game out of. I do know one language, Lua, really well. It’s actually the first language I learned and I have made multiple games/tech demos out of it. So I thought I would attempt to make a game for LD 26 and see how I do.

Anyway, I guess the trend is to add how you will make the game.

Language: Lua

Library: LOVE2D

Graphics: Photoshop, PyxelEdit

Music: FL Studio

Livestream: xSplit Broadcaster on Twitch

Other Support: Red Bull, My Cat, My Mom.

If you want to see what else i’m up to, Follow me on Twitter @NexxCR

I usually talk about developments in Lua that I have been doing on the gaming platform ROBLOX. If not, then I usually ramble.

Hey! I too used to build and script stuff in Roblox! It was lots of fun…

Good luck with your first LD!

Streaming Widget Alpha 2

Hey folks. I’ve updated the streaming widget with a number of new features, and an improved look. Like before, if you have any comments or feedback, please let me know.

The Ludum Dare stream list is now live. I’ll be leaving my own stream streaming while I can, just to have something there (no video streams is so boring). Feel free to try it out yourself by starting a Twitch stream, and setting your game to Ludum Dare (you do this from the twitch.tv website).

Widget2

Version: Alpha 2

TODO: Optimize page loading
– Move scripts in to a PHP wordpress plugin that loads the scrips at the page end, so it doesn’t slow down sidebar loading.
– Minify.
– Combine SVG files in to HTML/JS? Maybe

TODO: Write FAQ! If somebody wants to write a “how to stream” guide for Windows, Mac, Linux, etc, please do! Post a link in the comments and I’ll use it. :)

Alpha 1 post is here.

2nd Time In.

I’m in, for the second time!

Tools are a little different from last time, but not too much.

Language: Java

Library: Slick2D – changed from libgdx, because I’m more familiar with it

Graphics: Fireworks 8

Music: Audacity

Streaming: FFSplit broadcasting on twitch!

Drink of Choice: Mountain Dew

Feel free to follow me on twitter : @KMutantSquirrel, I will try and post throughout the challenge!

1st Time In! Yay!

This is my first time participating! And I’ve already made a little timer for time lapse!

Timer
(The text is changeable while the program is running.)

But I don’t think that’s going to help me a lot with the game… :/

Language: Java
Libraries: My own small game engine (uses the Java API)
Graphics: Paint.NET
Sound: SFXR
Drink: Hydrogen oxide with a pinch of carbohydrates. Yummy!

I’m In!

I’m in for the 2nd time. Yay!

Language: Java

Library: LibGDX

IDE: Eclipse

Graphics: Paint.NET

Music: Audacity and maybe Otomata

Sound Effects: SFXR

Hope it goes well, good luck everyone!

Getting used to streaming.

I’ve just registered on Twitch, and I’m going to stream during LD.

I found it rather difficult to test the stream. When I’m viewing the stream, the image gets recursed, and if I turn on the sound it gets really loud over time. However I was told that everything is OK. Thought the XSplit broadcaster I use randomly crashes sometimes.

I have a question: (how) can I put both a screen recording from a computer and a webcam recording from a laptop in one stream?

I’m in!

This is my first attempt on ludum dare!

Language: C#

Library: XNA

Music: Not decideed yet…

Graphics: paint.NET (what else? :P)

Can’t wait! 😀

Let’s Do This Thing

Myself and a friend of mine, Robert Shenton, will be working together to participate in the Jam.

Language: Haxe

Library: NME

IDE: Sublime Text 2

Art: GIMP

Other than that, we’ll use whatever we need to get the job done. Can’t wait to hear what the theme is. Maybe this year I’ll get lucky and Time Travel will finally make it through.

We are in!

After not finishing last year (but learning a lot), we camp out over at my house this time and Jam along. Me and a friend will create all code and graphics here, while another pal might join over the internet to supply us with some cool music and sounds. We will use:

  • Either XNA (Visual Studio) or Game Maker – depending on our game idea
  • Gimp, MyPaint, Blender
  • SFXR/BFXR
  • Maybe some free assets from the net (mostly stuff posted on reddit /r/gamedev) if needed

Our motto this time is pretty much “Keep it simple, get it done!”. After finishing once myself, the last LD was our first time as a team, and unfortunately we ran into some technical difficulties as well as underestimating certain problems. This year we are off to a good start with new confidence and a better idea of what we can achieve within the short weekend.

I am very exited and I’m looking forward jamming with you guys. I’ll definitely drop in the IRC!

Best of luck and have fun everybuddy!! :)

I’m In! (Hopefully)

This will be my first ludum dare (jam) hopefully, so long as life & homework don’t get in the way. I’m a senior in high school (almost done, GT this fall whoo!), and i’ve worked with quite a  few programming languages and most freely available game engines, but i’ve never really released much of anything so that’ll be new for me. I’ll be working hard (and have been) my c++ library and engine [‘Nucleode’] (library here: https://bitbucket.org/TheBenjaneer/libnucleode ). I currently use sfml, and depending on how things go i may use angelscript as far as other libraries go. I’ll be targeting windows/linux, and if i can get my hands on a mac i’ll attempt a port.

I’ll be using notepad++/gedit/kate for my Ide, a shell with my buildtool for building, log files from the engine for debug, and probably paint.net for graphics.

For audio i’m thinking sfxr and bfxr as well as possibly lmms or fl studio and audacity.

Other possible tools include gimp, inkscape, blender, and any of the tools listed on the ludum dare tools page.

Good luck everyone, and have fun!

I’m in

I’m in again for Ludum Dare #26. This time around I’ll be creating something in Unity, which is a platform that I’ve only recently started learning. That’s a good excuse as any, right?

I’m not sure what specific technologies (as in, libraries) I’ll be using. I’ll probably be porting some of my Java-, ActionScript-, or JavaScript-based libraries to C#, but overall only creating something simple to get to know the platform better.

I’ve also decided to finally add some sound to my entry this time around (my previous entries were all silent). For this, I’ll be using usfxr – my Unity port of the sfxr/as3sfxr engine (I’ll hopefully write a bit more about this prior to LD #26, so more people can use it if they need dynamically generated, randomly mutated audio).

Good luck everyone!
