LD27 August 23–26, 2013

I’m in!

I’m in, this will be my second LD, finally a data I can participate once more :)

Language: Probably as3 and Flashpunk, but I might just roll with c# and unity if I come up with a 3d game-idea.

Art: Paint & paint.net… I’m afraid photoshop will bite me.

Sound: Bfxr and this handy python script:

http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/44145179/autotracker-bu.py that generates music. I have no idea who made it, but sir (or madam), if you are reading this, I love you!

“I’m In”

So, yeah… My I’m in post.

My 5th Ludum dare, I’ll be using:

We’ll see what the theme, time and life bring me. Might be a JAM entry, going to take that extra day!

I’m in

I’m hearting this just because you’re using Emacs. And that’s from a Vim user.

Although nice everything-else, too.

Aw, I’m an ex-Vim user though and you don’t see many of us here on Ludum Dare.

Excited and terrified

LD27 will be my first ludum dare. I’ve spectated the competition multiple times before but due to school/work I’ve never had the time to actually participate. I’m excited and a bit terrified.

Tools:

  • libGDX / Java / Eclipse
  • Paint.NET
  • sfxr/bfxr + Audacity

The game I’m working on now is almost done, 10 months after I started. I estimated it would take about 5. So the goal is to finish this game in 24 hours!

Good luck to everyone involved!

I’m In

Seasons greetings, lets celebrate as we enter our local tri annual holiday of LUDUMDARE!!!! Where all of the Ludum’s get Dared straight to hell.

My last last two entries didn’t go too well, December last year I failed to finish an entry. April went a lot better, but I had a lot of trouble with Löve and lua. For the compo this time there should be a lot more people around to bug with silly questions.

This LD is the 2nd anniversary of
me discovering ludumdare, it will be the 5th(maybe 4th) ludumdare meet up for Aberdeen. The meet up at will be in the Meston building at kings college, there is more information here if you are in the area you can always hit me or Iain up.

Tools for this weekend.

  • Löve
  • Some Löve libraries, though I am not sure what yet.
  • Audacity
  • Sunvox
  • sfxr (maybe a variant)
  • vim
  • Pen and paper
  • MacBook Pro and my RAT3 Mouse

I have pulled together the basics of a
Löve project it is set up with a frame buffer and a pretty empty shader. It might no work everywhere, but if cool effects are desired it should be pretty easy to get them rolling.

I’m in! (And I’m ready!)

Whoooo! Ludum time!

This is going to be my third time participating in the compo, and I am excited. My past two attempts were “complete”, but neither game was particularly fun. This time that will change. I WILL make a fun game, and I WILL succeed at time management!!!

I just completed my warm up weekend game, and everything is looking peachy. The game is called “Eye of Ra”, and it helped me test all of my various tools to make sure they were working. I am most proud of the music, seeing as my past two games had no sound at all. I have been practicing with Famitracker, and I think the background music sounds great, even though it is a short loop. This warm up also let me work on animated sprites, which I have never been very good at. All in all, this warmup game which I made in about 6 hours is already better than my past two entries. I am excited! Play it here.

Eye of Ra

Egyptian shoot-em-up? Why not.

As far as my actual compo entry, I am going to be using the following (not all information is relevant):

Code: Game Maker Studio Pro

Art: GIMP

Music: Famitracker / Audacity

Sound: BFXR

Distribution: www.blooperly.com

Pandora: The Hush Sound Radio, Ed Sheeran Radio

Workplace: Bean Town Coffee House

Staying Awake: Vanilla Chai Latte + Espresso (the best)

Good luck everyone!

I’m in!

I had a lot of fun last LD, so I’m back! Wohoo~

Just like last time I’ll be using JavaScript/HTML5 without an existing engine. I’ll be using the following tools:

  • Graphics: Photoshop
  • Sound: sfxr/bfxr, Audacity (I’ll make sure to actually add sound this time…)

I’m looking very much forward to this. I’ve been hyping myself and my friends for some time and have been doing some warming up by updating my previous game.

Have fun everyone!

Im In!

Im in this time :p

Language: Java (maybe lwjgl for the 3rd dimension)

IDE: Eclipse

Count me in =)

I’ve been following the competition of a while. Well, I believe it’s time to participate.

I also worked on a minigame for the warmup the last two evenings, which I plan to upload tomorrow. Unless, I think of more stuff to add and make my code even less overviewable 😛

In any case, I’m in!

Code: Flash/Actionscript 3.0

Graphics: Flash, Photoshop, Paint, Blender

Sound: REAPER

I might be in

This will be my second Ludum Dare competition if I will have the time to participate.

I’ll be using either gamemaker or unity, it depends what my idea is.

For music i’ll be using FL Studio, and for sounds probably sfxr.

I hope to see you all there!

Im in

livestream or timelapse if you want! 😀

More warmup stuff + a question

Another screenshot from my warmup game I want to finish before the 22th of August. Will be submitted here, when it’s done, obviously.

katamori warmup 2

Also, I have a question. I’ve already finished several key elements for this game (like map I/O), are there any ways to use them in LD48? From the rules, it wasn’t clear for me. It writes that all the code must be done within the 48 hours, but though I’m allowed to use libs like LÖVE or Allegro. (in case of C++, of course) Using some key functions would be a great help, so someone answer please!

From the rules:

If I remember correctly, code snippets are okay, as long as it’s not the entire game in one snippet and the snippet is freely available(eg, it’s in the code .zip/git repo you give) 😀

So map I/O *should* be okay, but I recommend going to the IRC and asking a few on there 😉

Damn you Felix20, you beat me to it! Hahaha

I’m in (Most likely :3)

I’m in I hope! 😀

The tools I’ll be using are:
Programming Language: C & GCC – MingGW – Emscripten
Game engine: Homebrew -> https://github.com/Gallefray/QuackLang
IDE/Text editor: Sublime Text 3
VCS: Git & Github
Art (If any): Paper+Sharpie, scanned into PC or Pyxel Edit with WINE.
Music: Live recorded [insert instrument here] or Klystrack.

I will most probably be doing a timelapse if I can’t get livestreaming to work in the time between now and saturday 😀

We are in!

Team ByteFire is in for the Ludum Dare Jam! We had a blast last time in LD26 though we did not complete the game due to engine issues (forgot to test a few things and it went south) That has changed, and we have done a full run-through of all our tools and warmups.

Here are the tools we plan to use:

  • libGDX / Java / Netbeans
  • GIMP
  • sfxr / lmms
  • Tiled

Cannot wait to see what everyone else creates!

First Ludum Dare!

Hey guys!

This will be my first Ludum Dare (doing the Competition) and I’m pretty stoked!  I’ll be streaming the entire thing at twitch.tv/wakeskaterX if you want to check it out at any point.

I’ll be using Game Maker 8.1, Paint.NET and sfxr.

@WakeStudio (twitter) <= you can follow me there for periodic updates as well.

It’ll be a fun break from releasing my current game to stoke the creative fire!

Glad to meet you guys and be a part of the awesome community here.

Cheers,

Jason Carter aka WakeskaterX

I’m in!

As always, I’m in! Bring on the weekend of code, food, and caffeine!

This time round I’m likely going to be using the following languages/tools/libraries:

– C++
Psybrus 2 Base library for math stuff.
– Emscripten.
– SDL.
– SoLoud.
– FL Studio.
– Audacity.
– GIMP.

LD27 : Dive in

I’ve finally decided to dive headfirst into the arena.

I will be using the Torque 2D game engine, which is entirely open-source under the MIT license since february of this year.

I will provide the results of my entry on my github page and submit a pre-compiled .exe version to the voters, of course!

You may find the source code to this particular version of the  engine at the URL below.

https://github.com/capnlove/Torque2D/tree/LD27

Attention OSX users : If anyone wants to compile the engine for OSX (from the repository linked above) and shoot me the .app, I will gladly convert the entry to support both platforms (Windows & OSX)

The road to LD27

Over the past 2 weeks, I’ve been fixing bugs in the engine, testing every aspect of it to make sure that T2D is ready for this type of competition.

I’ve tested the art asset pipeline and timed myself to evaluate how long certain tasks may take.

One thing I’ve learned is that no matter how prepared you are, you have NO IDEA of how the competition will turn out.

Will my game be any fun, will I spend time unwisely on aspects that aren’t necessary, will I have something coherent after the 48 hours?

All those questions plague the mind but no answers can be found until the iron is forged in the fires of Ludum Dare.

You may follow my updates here and on my personal blog at s01l.com

Indeed in.

First LD, last weekend of vacation.

Going to be making something from scratch, using:

– Flash

– FlashDevelop

– Paint.NET (if pixel art)

– Misc pieces of public code (all of which will be credited)

#LDDreamTeam

Okay, change of plans. I thought I would code C++ SFML all by myself, but I am now part of something much bigger. I am a part of the fearsome LDDreamTeam, and since I don’t actually have a  clue about what I’m doing in C++ I am going with my old love XNA and C#. All right. Cool. Happy jamming guys!
