LD27 August 23–26, 2013

I’m in

I’m new, been watching for a long time but haven’t ever been in the comp.

I am going to try to finish something during this comp!

using:

program: construct 2

graphics: paint.net

music:  famitracker

Let’s do this

Unless something drastic happens at the last minute I should be participating. If I remember correctly, it’ll be my seventh time starting a Ludum Dare; hopefully I’ll finish.

I’ll be using either FlashPunk or LÖVE in conjunction with my Ammo framework, depending on what kind of game I want to make.

Have fun, and good luck!

I’m in

Hey everyone.

I will join the next LD even though I don’t think I have so much time. It’ll teach me to have a very small scope.

I will use the following:

tech: HTML5, Pixi.js, Coffeescript, Ash.js

tools: Whatever’s closest. MyPaint, Paint.net, etc.

I’m in (probably)

I really want to participate on this Ludum Dare, the problem is that I’m very busy during the weekend, so my plan is to design a very simple game and then create it in 2-3 hours, it’s gonna be a true challenge.

I’ll be using construct2 and paint net. Click here to see my previous (and first) LD entry.

We’ll see if I’m able to come up with something decent with just a few hours.

Good luck everyone!

Second Round!

So, yes, after an exciting first time with Ludum Dare 26, I’m back for more. This time hopefully I’ll be able to get into the compo and not screw up at last minute. I hope to squeeze at least a few hours of sleep in there too (but it isn’t my main concern).

Here are the tools I’ll be using for the job:

Engine: Love2d (Lua) OR Ren’Py (Python), depending mainly on what weird idea passes my mind the day of the compo

Editor: Scite

Graphics: GraphicsGale and Gimp/Paint.NET

Audio: MilkyTracker

So that’s all for now… See you on the day of the compo.

Anyone in need of a new member

Hi everyone i know this is a longshot and might not be the place and time but i am looking for a team to join as i wanted to start my own but i don’t have enough people, and i really want to do this ludum dare.

I am happy to do anything although my strengths lie more in coding and ideas and design, I am not that great but i am looking for more experience and any bit helps.

I’m in!

It’s been a while, but I’m ready to give this one another go. Base code is up on Github; I’ll be going with EnchantJS again. Good luck to everyone!

I think I’m in!

This will be my first Ludum Dare. I will use the following tools:

Code:

JavaScript and C#.

Game Engine:

Unity 4.2.0.

Audio:

Lmms.

Graphics:

Photoshop.

OGMO.

Tiled.

(Can i work on the project after the Ludum dare?)

Let’s do this ಠ_ಠ

Hey Everyone!

This is my second Ludum Dare. My first Ludum Dare was simply for learning experience.

I’m not sure, whether I will enter the compo, or the jam. It all depends on the time I have.

The tools I will be using :

Language/Framework : C# with XNA/MonoGame

IDE : Visual C# 2010 or MonoDevelop

Graphics : Paint.Net

*Audio :  SFXR, BFXR

Other : Internet, Notepad++

* Means I might or might not put it in the game.

See you on the battlefield everyone! 😀

In it, innit

It’s quite possible that, come Saturday, I shall find myself in.

If I do, I’ll probably be using the following tech:

Unity engine
Visual Studio
Paint.net
sfxr

This would be my 5th LD. In the first I did a simple 2D game with monsters chasing the player around a maze. For the next two I took part in, I went multiplayer and HTML5 (but still 2D) – which was interesting. Last time I did a 3D game in Unity.

LD27 is unlikely to be multiplayer, and it’s too early to tell yet whether it will be 2D or 3D… It will have a number of Ds between 2 and 3 inclusive.

As always during LD, I will be enjoying lots of sleep, and large breakfasts. This time, however, I will also attempt to release early to get some early feedback.

Have fun everyone :)

I’m so in!

Weekend schedule cleared.
The lady is away on business.
Only thing left is to stack up on snacks and soft drinks 😀

Been toying around with Unity the last couple of days. Maybe I can get something working in there?
If that poses too much of a challenge, I’ll fall back on flixel or plain flash.

Prolly going for a Jam entry. We’ll see!

You are So in!

My first LD, hopefully :D

Okay, so I thought about trying this. Although the concept I have in my head might or might not be possible to finish until the deadline, but I hope that the essentials will so I can at least show off some fancy alpha version. The game will be developed only in the course of the competition (with some exceptions, I will reuse some code from older projects).

I will use:

Visual C# 2010 with XNA 4.0 and HLSL (porting later to monogame perhaps but can`t be bothered right now)

Farseer physics engine

Gleed2D level editor

Photoshop/GIMP and Spriter Essential Edition

FL Studio

Various other middleware perhaps to enhance development speed (such as a Mercury Particle Engine, or Awesomium, anything, we`ll se what`s needed)

Okay, let`s do this 😀

AdventureIslands joins the brawl for the 5th time now! Nooo pressure at all! Oh boy, hope this LD will be as successful as the previous ones. Good luck everyone!

My tools of trade:

  • Stencyl as the game engine
  • Photoshop for graphics
  • BFXR.net for sounds
  • CgMusic for random music generation
  • Audacity for music editing

My previous LD games:

Persist
Mad Princess
Tiny Evolution Adventure
Tiny Island Adventure

You might wonder why I -1 so many themes. I find most of them to be too cliché. Themes like “Lost”, “Strange New World”, “Darkness”, “Castles” and others are simply too vague and will allow for anything. Sure, we can’t have super-strict themes either, but something that makes you thing and doesn’t just allow you to do anything.

Besides, I want themes that make you make something new, and not just let you to use an idea you’ve had before. I want us to be surprised and motivated to think this Saturday, most of themes so far don’t allow for that, but I have confidence that the community will pick, as before, an interesting theme that makes me think.

I’m in. For the third time.

After failing for the first two times, and then making a warmup game better than any I’ve made before, I’ll try again, and make a game even better than this warmup one.

Tools I will probably use:

HTML5/Javascript

vim

Gimp and Inkscape

Audacity, LMMS, and maybe sfxr

In search of Jam Team!

Hello,

This will be my first Ludum Dare Jam, and I’m looking for a team. I don’t know if I’ve missed something here, but I’m having  a difficult time finding a method to join up with some online peeps to do this thing. So if you need someone, I can do basic work with Unity3D, Maya, and Photoshop. I also have prior experience in the educational setting with C#, C++, and Javascript. Please help a brother out and give me a place in your team. If you give me a task, I will spend every minute of every hour honing my skills on it until this weekend, and I’m a quick learner. I’m really anxious to get started in the indie game scene and I’d love it if I could contribute to a Ludum Dare jam :)

Thanks,

Jake

Checking in for my first LD

Just wanted to let everyone know that I’ll be joining Ludum Dare for the first time.

My tools will be C# + XNA, Paint.net and some yet unspecified thing for sounds and music (if I have time for that).

Wish everyone good luck!

An eternal question… and yet stupid?

Hi there!! I want to move to 3d development and I see two engines that looks pretty good.

Blender Game Engine: Not only looks good but it’s free, so looks excelent. The problem is i don’t see anyone one using it… anyone know why is that? It’s slow? It’s worst that it looks?

Unity3D: Looks fantastic… but the commercial version it’s really expensive for an indie developer (1500 dollars). So, did you think that you could do a decent game with the free version?

Any other suggestions?

Thanxs in advance.

You can make something very nice in the free version of Unity! You’re only really missing out on lighting, and plugins.

I would recommend Unity 3D.

I use it and i love it, i payed about 6500 for the commercial license with all other features.

As a fan of Blender, i dont recommend using blender game engine for an actual game, its better for quick prototyping really. ( which is why it is suitable for a game jam though it is not for the game itself ! )

Also if you are really wanting to buy Unity Pro for use past the Ludum Dare they now offer a subscription model. You pay 75 a month and you get pro. In the long run it will cost you more, but if you are looking for a way to get a game made and start earning money its a pretty good deal

In Ludum Dare, you want people to play your games. Simply for that I’d go with unity3d because of being able to publish a webplayer.

Maybe a good approach is to start using unity3d free and see what i can do. If I made a cool game maybe i could save some money to buy the pro version and enhace it.

If you are not selling a commercial game, the free version will certainly do fine.

Thanxs everyone. I’m installed Unity. And I see that now the free version cames with deploy to mobile too!!! So, next the hard part: make a game at least fun!!

Thanxs!!

I’m in!

This will be my second Ludum Dare. I’m entering the jam, because I need someone to make art for me. I’m probably going to be using LOVE for this, but I’m also looking at possibly melon.js, libgdx, or Unity.
