LD27 August 23–26, 2013

I’m in! A little shakily, though

About a year ago I switched from Java to C++ because I fell under the delusion that it would work better.  For all of it’s trouble, and my disappointing entry a couple dares back that wouldn’t work, I was wrong.  I ended up taking hiatus from programming and now I’m back to Java.  I’ve spent the past few months re-learning it and only today did I learn how to implement sound!  This is going to be interesting.

Anyhow, here are my tools:

Language – Java

IDE – Netbeans ( eclipse doesn’t work on my computer )

Grephics – Paint.NET ( Paint.NET master race )

Sound – SFXR or BFXR, depending on my mood

Good luck to you all, fellow darers – and may the odds ever be in your favor!

Frameworking!

It appears that like Batch, you can’t just C your way through LD48 without a  solid framework (at least I can’t), so I’ve started coding something to wrap SDL2 (with the generous help of rxi‘s tips and code) and it’s now in a working state.

Everything is available here: https://github.com/ashdnazg/ld27
It’s still work in progress, and I’ll probably use the same repository for the game itself, but I suppose that’s the wonderful magic of source control.

I’m now considering whether to try coding a particle manager, or try a warmup before that.

If any of you wise people have tips or suggestions, please leave a comment :)

Vote for the right theme!

Glad to help!

RatalaikaGames is in for LD27!!!

Well, this is the first Ludum dare I will take.

I will use this short of tools:

Language: AS3 (so people can play the game on the web).

Libraries: Spiller for AS3 (A port and improvement on Flixel AS3)

IDE: I will be using MAC and OS X so Flash Builder.

Graphics: Gimp

Music and Sound: For audio I will use bfxr and maybe Audacity.

I hope I can at least achieve something playable :).

I released the spiller-as3 to the public so anyone could use it in case they needed it:

Good Luck to every one!!

Are you ready? Need some help? Here you go…

Here’s some free tools that I’ve made.

Health Script

– Split Terrain

Splits your terrain. Haven’t tested it in every possible situation but have tried testing with lots of trees and 2 textures and it seems to work properly. The textures seem to shift a little bit but where they’re actually painted stays the same.

A Poem

As summer soon draws to a close,

And MiniLD’s done,

It comes to be that time again

Before Ludum Dare’s begun.

Developers from far and near

Dust off their IDE’s

Across the digital frontier,

We grow giddy with glee.

We vote on themes,

And watch the streams,

But before it’s to begin,

We’ll type two simple, solemn words,

The solemn words ‘I’m in.’

GSMProds: we’re in!

And we’re in for the Jam once again! With the same team than last time

Audio

  • Linux MultiMedia Studio
  • SFXR
  • ZynAddSubFX

Game Engine

  • Unity 3D 4.2

Graphism

  • Blender 2.68a
  • Gimp 2.8
  • Photoshop

Others

  • Calc (LibreOffice)
  • Github
  • Sublime Text 2.02
  • Gedit

And yeah, we’re going 3D, guys! Let’s start this!

Are you guys going to make some cool 80’s sounding music with ZynAddSubFX?
20. Aug 2013 · 12:52 UTC
Did you just say “Calc”?

All top games in one package. Was this made before?

I was thinking about making one big package with all top 100 Ludum Dare 27 games and call it…

LudumCade

What are you thinking about this?

Was something like this made before?

I’m in

If it’s gonna be jam or compo depends on how much time my brother will have. Tools I (or we) will be using: Construct 2, Inkscape and maybe GIMP/Paint.NET, for sounds/music I’ll try playing around a little with bfxr and iNudge. This is gonna be my first LD ever and my second gamejam overall and I’m really looking forward to it.

In For Our 5th Consecutive LD Jam

Last time we made a game about launching toast. The time before that we made a game where you were a bear with a flamethrower. I don’t know what silly things this LD will bring, but I am excited to find out! Our team has 3 core coders and a few people who help out with sound and art. We use a custom little Python framework built on top of PyGame.

Tools
Language/IDE: Python/Sublime 2/Vim
Frameworks: Pygame/ldpygame
Audio: sfxr/bsfxr/Audacity
Graphics: GIMP, Paint.NET
Source Control: Mercurial
Communication: Mumble/Pidgin/Google Docs
Fuel: Dr. Pepper, Burritos, Pepper Jack Cheez-Its
Music: Pandora One, Video Game OSTs

And, as always, I will be timelapsing my perspective and livestreaming much (all?) of the planning and development at: http://www.twitch.tv/syncarn

dare of ludums

yes lets do this

I read the rules for the ludum dare.

I will make a blog and write everything about the game I’m going to make.

But i read that i could use my own code and libaries if i wrote some kind of blog, so should i make the blog on a page like tumblr or something? I just want to be able to use all of the unity pro and standard assets for my project.

I’m pretty sure you just have to write a post on this Ludum Dare blog. Setting up a tumblr is just extra.

OK thank you!

I will answer the call to Create

I’m looking forward to this weekend and all the frantic coding, sound, music, artwork, API documentation scanning, and Ludum Dare blog post reading.

I take it you’re entering the compo. However, if you are jamming, I’d love to collaborate with you this weekend. I’m noobish, but I have common sense and I have prior experience with Unity3D (C#), photoshop, Maya, and Reaper. I’d be happy to do any of the work you need.

Thanks for the offer but, yeah, I’m doing the compo. Good luck!

I think I’m in.

I plan to make a game for this #LD48 but I don’t expect it to be very good.

Again I will use:

– Monkey Coder and build an HTML5 or Flash game

– Fireworks for graphics (most likely more pixel art)

– sfxr or bfxr for sound

– if I do anything with platforming or rpg, etc, then Tiled

– I’ve written several modules over the years that will probably be a part of the build to handle platforming, saving data, and splash screen/menu/options screens

EDIT 2: Just realized that I have to pre-post the code from those modules to use them.  May not be using them then due to lack of time, going from scratch I guess, or end up in the darn jam again….

EDIT: cgMusic looks fun for this project too.

Alternatively, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about making a browser based game written in Javascript, on a DigitalOcean droplet running Nginx.  Possibly a Golang web app.  But that may be too lofty when I don’t have much time.

Warm Up before the real thing!

Well here it is guys, a small scale point & click game that I’ve just finished.

Hope you like it 😉

And yes I know, the tune is quite addictive!

Helo team mate

Awesome, great first encounter.

love it 😉

I’m in (for 4.8 hours)

I don’t have much time, but Ludum Dare was always an amazing experience.. So I  decided to make a game in 4.8 hours.

Tools for rapid prototyping:

  • Scratch – it has drag&drop scripting and features immediate testing ;)
  • GIMP – I’m used to it and have already created things like palettes, filters and brushes I can use
  • as3sfxr & modified autotracker – procedural sounds & music! yes! :D

Also my brain, pen & paper and my game design folder :)Coffee and pumping music will help me to get into the right speed ☕

If you are passionate about Ludum Dare but have few free time to spend, feel free to grab the idea and turn this into a 4.8 hours NanoLD.

WarmUp

yeah,  i know that you all preparing for the great event, but i’ve even open my IDE the only thing i’ve did is to test how much my system can handel,

i’m really exciting, but the thing is that i’ve never ever create a real game, but this time i will give it my best, hopefully the theme will have some exciting ideas,

good luck every one, and wish good luck too :)

I’m In!

Hello Internets

This upcoming Ludum dare will be my first, and I am very much looking forward to it.

I will be using Java from scratch (no Slick 2D or LWJGL), Pinta and Gimp for Graphics, sfxr and Audacity for sounds, and Kill Paris to keep me going. I am wondering how long I should take breaks for, eg sleeping, eating washroom breaks ect. I hope you all enjoy the Compo

Cheers

Good luck to everybody 😀

Let’s begin.

This will be my first Ludum Dare competition (and my first game for that matter).
My tools will range from:

Frameworks: Love2d, SFML, or Flixel

Sounds: sfxr, or bfxr.
