Hey I just happened to catch your post on the Ludum Dare frontpage! Good luck!

Haha, yea I recognized you from your profile picture oddly enough. Good luck to you as well XD

Before we start

So it’s me again. I just wanted to let you know that when LD begins I will be posting my updates to twitter. So if you want you can follow me @Techblogogy And I think it will be the last update for today.

So once again Good Luck to everyone.

P.S. I think theme is going to be “10 seconds”

Base Code Declaration

This will be my first time partaking not in the Jam but in the Compo, and thus will be subjecting myself to the slightly stricter rules. I will be using C++ and DirectX 9 as I already have in a number of smaller projects whose most useful parts and snippets I have now compiled for use in the Compo. I deliberately omitted all network code though to avoid being tempted to do something stupid this competition… So without further ado: here is the link to the base code I intend to use (and you, too, may use, although I wouldn’t really recommend it to others…): Link

First time daring!

Best of luck to everyone! First time L. Daring here.

Let’s see how Scirra’s Construct 2 can compete with all the other engines people will be using. I may also use some comunity plugins/behaviours, hope that’s ok :D.

Have fun everyone!

Hi, there! I’m in too!

I’m gonna hack my brain in here for a first time.

Language: Haskell

Libraries: SDL, OpenGL, Netwire, Lenses…

Stuff: as desired…

Let’s do it!

Excellent, Haskell! I thought about doing the same thing but I’ve been branching out from Haskell to try my hand at game development in C++, but it’s super awesome to see someone working with Haskell.

I thought the same thing: “HASKELL?!?!?!”

Here goes nothing!

First time participant here.
Let’s start of with tools:
Language: Java (with Slick2D library)

Graphics: Paint.NET

SFX: sfxr (Love that tool).
Not too shabby, but nothing fancy either. Since this would be my first time, then I’ll try to go easy on myself. Unfortunately, I would be unable to provide a timelapse, but that’s the least of my problems. I’m totally trying out for the Jam first, by the way.

First LD

Engine: Unity
Audio: autotracker.py + Audacity (possibly sunvox)
Sound: bfxr.net
Image: Paint.NET & Hexels
Bugtesting: XChat-WDK & Skype
Stream: XSplit – twitch.tv @cwkx
Lapse: Chronolapse
Location: Hong Kong
Drink: Schweppes Ginger Beer
Distractions: Newborn baby daughter!

Goodluck all, time to sleep!

First Ludum Dare!

It’s a my first Ludum Dare! I hope I will finish my game :)
I think I will use ImpactJS or pure java :)

Here’s my workspace:

My workspace

Good luck guys 😉

Count me in!

Hey everybody!

This will be my first LD, and I hope I’ll be able to finish my game (only real goal I set myself 😉 )

So here are my tools:

– Framework : XNA/Monogame

– Language: C#

– IDE: Visual Studio 2012

– Art: Photoshop

– Sound: sfxr

I’ll also be using some  base code from other game and projects!

There’ll probably also be a live stream!

I’m in!

I’m a bit anxious because I have other things to do beyond LD but OK.

I’m going to use this engine (it’s JS):
https://github.com/superjoe30/chem

My tools are:
Sublime Text,
sfxr,
Renoise,
autotracker,
Pixelmator,
Aseprite,
maybe Tiled

My workplace:

1

The food will be provided by KFC and local street food dealers (I live in Thailand at the moment so expect it to be rather exotic).

I’ll also try to live stream the process.

Hi Ludum Dare!

I’m here for my first Ludum Dare.

I’ll be using C++ on Visual Studio with a little engine I wrote (featuring basic game states and resources management, GUI, few networking … / more detail & sources here : https://github.com/Teanan/GameBase) and with some libraries such as SFML 2, Boost and yaml-cpp.

Apart from that I’ll use :

– Paint.net for graphics or GIMP if needed.

– Audio generators like WolframTones, AutoTracker, BFXR or Audacity or FL Studio if I’m inspired.

– Subversion as version control

– Chronolapse

And I’ll livestream my entry here : http://www.twitch.tv/teanan

That’s it, good luck for everyone and see you tomorrow :)

I need a break!

HardHead Games here! My friend and I have been working like crazy to finish our game World Destroyers, but we def could use a break.  Hoping to submit at least something simple/clever depending on the theme of course.  Don’t wanna break our streak of LD’s in a row, I think this will be our 5th. Plus we always seem to come up with great concepts for future full games.

We’re simple men.  We use MonoGame (XNA), paint.net, and sfxr generally.  And of course you need some good music thrown in to keep the good vibes goin.  Usually a few BBC essential mixes.

Here’s a pic of my main rig/workstation.

hardheadgamesworkstation

Goodluck to you all!  Don’t forget to have fun!… and sleep!  😀

From the sidelines!

So excited to see how this LD plays out! This is my second time taking a break to just watch the action as since my first time trying to do an LD just under a year ago when I decided that doing it every three months was going to be difficult to pull off with work!  So here I am, sitting out the LD after the Minimalism theme(ouch!) hoping that I get to see a fun and engaging theme come storming out of the final voting!

Good luck LD’ers and prepare for some great gaming action!

I’m In This Weekend

Hi,

This is the first Ludum Dare I’m joining, and will hopefully be the first game I will release to the public. Like many of you, I’m using libgdx as my main game engine. I will also use Pixen for art, (maybe) Tiled for level design, and bfxr for sound, and if I have time, Visual MML for music.

I look forward to making a game people can enjoy, as well as playing all the other cool games. Good luck, everyone.

My first ludum dare!

I wanted to participate before, but wasnt able to.

This will be interesting, as I have an intercontinental flight with a layover, then multi-hour drive during the compo.

As the compo starts 4am here, then ill move 6hrs over timezones, this might not be the best time, but let’s see what happens…

I’ve been wanting to start learning OpenGL, but I think I’ll stick to JPanel, and other built-in java libraries I’m already familiar with.

basic framework i think might be what i build off, (or it may just be my usual spaggetti…)

I’m in!

My third LD at all but it’s first without my lovely cat – he is stayed at my old city. Now I’m at Saint Petersburd (Russia) and I hope that theme will be awesome.

My tools like as always:
* Adobe Flash
* FlashDevelop
* FL Studio
* my bloody hands

In

I guess I’m in. I am quite busy this weekend and don’t have much time so I will probably just make some colors for you to walk around in in 3D. I’ll be using actionscript and whatever this is will most likely turn into a trip sequence for my current project The Dezert.

Debug issues

I had extreme troubles with my highscore server and/or the Flash sandbox lately. Spent hours to fix it, without success. Now that I rebooted my PC, everything runs smoothly. Let’s hope I don’t encounter this during the competition, or else I’m going to lose a lot of time… I probably will skip anything internet related – apart from uploading my files.

Speaking of time – LD 27 will start at 3 AM my timezone. I guess I’ll just go to bed before midnight (preferably), and sleep my 8 hours. I’ll get up early aswell, if I manage to get up in the morning without tossing the alarm out of my window.

On a positive sidenote, I don’t expect the website to be as overloaded as it’s been predicted to be when the 48h countdown starts.

As far as the topics are concerned, I totally hope it to be one of the following:

  • Alchemy [Whenever I play a game from the TES series, it’s what I try to level up first. Buy cheap, sell high, gain levels :P]
  • Evil vs Evil [Having the player control the good guys is standard. Having the player control the bad guys to fight the good is rare, even if there are a few exceptions like Evil Genius or Dungeon Keeper. Fighting Evil with more Evil sounds like fun.]
  • Parallel Worlds [This seems to fit perfectly to some puzzle themed game. Maybe a bit like Metroid Prime: Echoes. Connected, yet different. And sci-fi.]
  • Replication [They already are too many. There will be more. And more. And more. Yeah, that’s about it.]
  • Space [Spaaaaaaceee!]
  • Surveillance [Cameras, traps, good cops, bad cops, worse cops, … and a puppeteer controlling it all.]
  • You must leave it behind [Moral dilemmas ahead. Whyyyyy? *tear runs down the cheek* Okay, who’s been cutting onions?]

There are a few other interesting topics, but I believe that Survival is waaay overused lately, and strange power-ups is a bit limiting, imo…

Good luck everyone, I guess I’m out for today!

Mmmmmmm forbidden jam

I’m in, looks like I’ll have to Jam it this time around due to a pretty hectic schedule and working remotely on a 13″ Macbook Air. Hopefully it’ll go ok.

Toolz:

Unity with Orthello Pro

C#

Potatoshop

Nanoloop or LSDJ

Happy LD everyone :)

Workspace pic

As is customary:

supermaximo93_workspace_ld27

That’s an OpenGL reference on the wall, by the way. Not relevant to LD though because I’m using something a bit higher level!
