Less than 8 Hours!

With less than 8 hours until the theme is announced for LD#27, I’ve officially passed from the nervous wreck stage of getting ready to pure excitement! I’ll be streaming my progress all weekend on twitch tv, with random appearances by me, my roommate, my cats and other people that might come by to cheer me on.

I’ve got my applications all set up and ready to go and my basic agenda for the weekend (I made sure to plan my breaks ahead of time!!)

The rest of the day I’ll be streaming music, random code, touchups to LynxJS and whatever else I do to prepare. I’m about to finish setting up my workstation and re-arranging my room.

I’ve also gotten a group of people together on tumblr that will be hanging out over Skype during the dare for those of us who prefer company of some sort when ripping our brains out coding. If you’re interested in joining us, comment below with your skype username!

All I can say is good luck to all participants and more importantly, have fun! I can’t wait to see everyone’s awesome creations!

Lets do this!

Here we go!

Checking in for my fourth LD. I am really excited about this. Hoping to make something that can run in browser this time, but that could change any time.

Here is the stuff I expect to use:

  • libgdx
  • Tiled Map Editor
  • Spine
  • Physics Body Editor
  • sfxr/bfxr
  • abundant music
  • Inkscape/Gimp

Good Luck to All!

Out of curiousity have you had any luck with using spine and the web build for libgdx?

I have had a lot of luck using spine with SFML, but I haven’t tried it with libgdx yet.

We’re In for the Jam (3.5 Man Team)

We’re in again for the Jam, the same 3.5 man team as the last Ludum Dare:

  1. Adam D: Programming & Design
  2. Adam S: Sound, Music, Writing & Design
  3. James C: Art & Design
  4. Darwin: Official Cat

The technical details:

  • Platform: Web, HTML5
  • Framework/IDE: Construct 2
  • Graphics: Mainly GIMP, with Support from Paint.net
  • Sounds: Sfxr, microKorg, Real Life Stuff + Microphone
  • Music: Garageband, microKORG, Cakewalk

Some photos of our workspace:

Workspace 9 Workspace 7

Workspace 2 Workspace 4

And Finally…

Here is a photo of my wife abusing our official cat.  This was basically to motivate him, as so far he has just been eating and sleeping, which frankly has not been of much help.  “Official Cat” is a important role here at SecondDimension games, and this was the kick he needed to start taking his duties more seriously

Thinking of entering again after complete and utter stuffup and giving up last time

Hi,

I got so frazzled last time and forgot (well couldn’t remember how to do anything.. )

I guess it’ll depend on the theme and if i can come up with anything

I’ve codded off and on in many languages over many years and have forgotten most of what i knew. :(

if i do it’ll be using java (or any language i can still get coding in) it’ll initially be for the windows platform, and others if i can work out how

I’ll be using

Language: not sure yet probably java (trying to learn it)

Editor: eclipse(or some other editor)

Graphics: gimp

Sounds: bfxr or sfxr (online) for sound effects, no music.

Don’t expect great graphics i usually suck at that part. my game logic is normally very good and innovative in one or more areas.

I hope to complete something this time, if i can think of anything :)

Good luck to all.

In!

Yarp! I’m in! Can’t be bothered to write a ton so…

Engine: Custom or Unity

Language: Java or C#.

IDE: Eclipse or MonoDevelop.

3D modeling (if 3D game): Lightwave, Blender.

Art: Paint.NET, Photoshop, maybe taking pictures of things.

Sound/Music: Mic, sfxr, FL Studio, Audacity.

Good luck! :)

My “I’m In” Post!

Hi everyone!

My name is Mark, I’m from Brazil and I work at Critical Studio – I designed Dungeonland : )

Super excited to be doing LD for the first time – and jamming all by myself for the first time!

Don’t have a lot of jam experience and never actually released anything that I’ve done alone, so this is quite exciting/intimidating.

My weapons of choice will be Game Maker Studio, sfxr and Photoshop! Hope something playable emerges on the other end of this thing    u.u

I’m In !

Not much to say. It is gonna be my second Ludum Dare Compo.

This time I am gonna use :

  • Language : Java
  • IDE : Eclipse
  • Library : LibGDX + Artemis Entity System (and some base code I wrote)
  • Graphics : Probably only Paint.Net, maybe I’ll use Aether Resource Editor for animation.
  • Level Editing (in case my idea requires one) : Tiled
  • Sounds : I am not really familiar with any tools for sounds, and I would really appreciate if you comment here with a recommendation.

Have fun !

I’m in and I’m going to use … SQL!

Its 2 hours to go and I’ve not been able to sleep for hours.  So I’ve been writing some ‘framework’!

And that framework turned out to be a little SQL parser and runner in … you’ve guessed it, Javascript!

Source here

It supports basic joins-in-the-where-clause, column and table aliases and insert statements (with constraints!).

It does type-coercion on insert in the same broken way that MySQL does.

So as you see, I really am picking the best of all worlds: Javascript + SQL + MySQL bugs features… what’s not to love?

Maybe I have time to add DELETE and UPDATE before the LD starts and I need to work out some game to use all this awesomeness on… :)

</smug twit>

I’m in! Again!

I’m in! Using the same tools this time around. I’ve setup my dev area in the basement of the house where I’ll be away from noisy people and I’m ready to roll!

I’m hoping Hunted is the theme. I have a pretty neat idea for that, but I’m not too picky. I’ll work with whatever!

Either way, I’m live streaming all my development on my Twitch channel. Hopefully I’ll see you there!

Editor: Sublime Text (of course!)
Language: LUA
Framework: LOVE2D
Images: Paint.NET
Sounds: sfxr
Music: FL Studio
Target OS: Windows, Mac OSX, Linux

Behind Me

Again, I’m in

Hey folks!

I’m in, once again! Hopefully coding a game rather than a cool engine without much gameplay! 😉
My tools are as usual:

  • Eclipse for Java
  • Audacity, OpenMPT, sfxr for sound
  • Ulead PhotoImpact, Paint.NET for GFX

Let’s do this!!

(PS: Vote for Connections!)

I’m (probably) in!

The theme reveal will find me on a train travelling back home throughout the whole night, so I guess that I’ll use that time for design or (gasp) sleeping.

Tools:

  • Language: AS3.
  • IDE: FlashDevelop
  • Additional libraries: Starling. Depending on the game needs and time, add to the mix the Particles extension  or Box2D.
  • Starting codebase: Some utility classes for scrollable maps, animations,…plus the basic application layout, mostly reused from my previous Flash-based entries. (Sources here)
  • Art: Photoshop, Flash.
  • Sound: bfxr, and I’ve been learning OpenMPT, so I might give it a try if I have the time.

Hi ya

Hello guys , this is my first Ludum , im so exited
I hope i will be able to do something

Music : Google is my lord.

Im hopping i will do my best !!!!!

Not long to go – I’m In

So this is the first time doing the main LD48 and I have to say that I’m pretty excited to be doing it. When it actually starts I’ll be in my bed but I’ll be starting as soon as I wake up.

My tools will include Unity, FLStudio, Inkscape and maybe Photoshop. And I may even stream the development as well.

I’m in (2)

The past few days I  practiced the most important things: Making some music, train some C# programming, made some animations and a small game in Blender and making textures.

This way I will either make some kind of text-game or work with the bge

I hope, all my efforts will turn out well, new info in ~13h after I wake up
