You Are Likely to be Eaten by a Grue

I’m in and plan to write a text adventure.

My main aim will be to write an amusing, quirky story. I haven’t succesfully written a game with  much of a story before, so this will be interesting.

My tools:

  • Mousepad (editor)
  • Go (compiler)
  • Mercurial (version control)
  • MtPaint, GIMP (bitmap editors)
  • Sun Vox (synthesizer)

I have two libraries I’ve written, feel free to use them:

IFL is missing quite a few things, but is already 987 lines of code. The design should allow me to easily add support for multiplayer and a web interface. I’m developing on Linux so I’ll have to check whether it works on Windows. I know I need to fix support for CR/LF newlines.

Good luck people!

Killmonday for the second time!

Hello, I’m Natalia from Killmonday!
We are super happy to be able to could do for a second time Ludum Dare!
This time we will also working with Armoured Crow, so we will be 3 people working.

Alex from Armoured Crow will be coding this time, using gamemaker!
Isak from killmonday will be making the music and sounds!
And I will be making the graphics and animations! 😀

We will be streaming tomorrow in Mr.Red Channel on twitch!
http://www.twitch.tv/misterredplays

Hugs!

Dost thou even Ludum?

We need a tshirt that says “Dost thou even Ludum?”  A complimentary graphic would be pretty snazy too. Someone needs to make this happen. I might make a graphic after LD. Can’t wait for Ludum Dare, it’s only a few hours away!

Warm-up DONE :D

PLAY IT HERE

I decided to make a real quick warm-up today. I didn’t have much time left of course so I decided to make a rhythm game.

My highest score was around 300, after that it gets confusing even for me!

Ill do my best

thisll hopefully be my first ld (woo). I wasnt going to but then thought, why not?

i would use python/pygame,  but feel i could do a better job with game maker lite. If i do manage to polish my game, audio will prob be recorded by me, edited with audacity.
Also, chances are my game wont be done on time, but its all good practice

thats pretty much it i think, hoping theme is space :)

My late I’m In!

I’M IN!
6th Ludum Dare in a row! That’s so awesome 😀

I’ve been so busy these weeks with the #7DFPS (which was great), the end of the summer vacation ( :( ) and fun “6th Israeli Games Unconference!” which was held today and I forgot to write my “I’m In!” post! So here is “My Late I’m In!”:

In my backpack:

  • A mysterious language – AS3 (Flash)
  • A powerful library – FlashPunk
  • An amazing IDE – FlashDevelop
  • Some ordinary drawing tools – GrpahicsGale\Inkscape (based on the idea)
  • Some acoustic musical instruments – SunVox? Random generated music?
  • A bit of refreshing food – Chocolate chocolate chocolate water chocolate chocolate chocolate
  • Some primitive communication tools – Open Broadcaster (for the live streaming! 😀 ) and Twitter of course
  • A large amount of encouragement – My friends and followers 😀 (Thank you guys, you are awesome!)

That’s it!
I think that I’m ready for our journey, see you on the other side..
Good luck everybody! And of course, make games!!!!!!!! 😀

Don’t forget to follow my journey on Twitter:

I’m in!

Plan for the weekend is to make a multiplayer game, but we’ll see how that’ll go…

Stuff I’ll be using:

  • Javascript
  • Sublime
  • Paint.NET

Base Code + In!

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/59900676/BaseCode27.zip

Since last time I’ve mainly been working on character customization stuff.  That led to lots of library changes in my collada stuff that I fully expect to break in some horrible fashion this weekend.  If anyone uses this, be sure to use the autodesk collada exporter as it is the only one it works with right now.

Also you’ll still need the Kinect SDK.  I’ll probably have the Kinect stuff removed by next LD.

My past few entries I’ve tried to stick with the Reach graphics profile so my game will run on old crappy machines, and I’ll try to this time as well, but I’ve put a lot of work in on the hidef side, so that’s what I will be developing for.  I’ve got lots of new postprocessing and dynamic light code to try out.

This will be my 7th entry! :)

http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/author/kharza/

I’ll be using the aforementioned libs and tools, Paint.Net, Quake Army Knife, Max 2009 with AutoWeight, Audacity, Bryce 7.1, and of course XNA.

Hopefully in

Planning on being in this time. It will be my 4th LD (in a row!). I’m not feeling very motivated so I’m really hoping for an idea-sparking theme. Will be using Flashpunk if I carry on.

In again :)

I’m in again !

My weapons  :

– Language : ActionScript 3
– Library : FlashPunk
– Graphic : GIMP, MS Paint and Pyxel Edit
– Audio : AudioTool, FL Studio && as3sfxr
– Base Code : here
– Other : The Mochi Scores API if I want a leaderboard

Probably a small game ’cause I don’t have all the weekend free :/

Good luck all :)

I’m probably not in

Not this time, unfortunately. However, there’s a tiny chance I will be around Sunday to hack something together. If that’s the case, here’s probably what I’ll use:

-Game Maker
-Paint.NET
-SFXR, BFXR, or one of those…and Audacity

Good luck everyone, can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

An untimely “I’m in” for an untimely LD

This time I have other things on my mind in the LD weekend.  For one thing, I’m working on a bigger Ouya game project which is almost ready for release.  Also I am trying to enjoy my last vacation days.  So, I won’t produce 11 games like last time.   Nevertheless I should be able to produce something interesting is less than 8 hours, and I want to participate in rating, AND I still need something for 1GAM August, so I’m in.  I want this to be a learning experience, to hell with the ratings, so I want to make something I usually do not make:

  • a puzzle or strategy game
  • a storyline or at least an evocative theme
  • my own soundtrack (something I haven’t done in a long time)
  • sounds with a microphone instead of sfxr

I was thinking of producing something 3D, but I won’t have the time to prepare myself for a new 3D PC platform.  So I will use Flash or Java with JGame as usual. And:

  • Gimp, Inkscape, Evolvotron, my random sprite generator
  • sfxr, Audacity
  • JBox2D or Box2DFlash for physics

My planned schedule:

Saturday: lie on the beach meditating on the theme

Saturday evening: whip up a couple of prototypes

Sunday: spend 4-8 hours making the game

Monday: if all else fails, participate in the jam

As I have only been learning to create games for a couple of weeks, I’ll be participating in the Game Jam rather than the competition. I’ll be aiming to post my process on my temporary blog here (sorry about the hosting & theme)

I’ll be using the following tools –

× GameMaker: Studio for game development
× Adobe Creative Suite for art
          ×
SFXR and/or Adobe Soundbooth for sound.

My aims for this game jam are to –

× Finally finish a game – I have a habit of starting them and not seeing them through
× Develop my skills in design and game development
          ×
Make a promising start to my blog

I expect that no matter the theme, my game will be focusing very largely on design/aesthetics as that’s what I’m most interested in developing at the moment.

I’ll be waiting until 2am when the theme is announced and the timer starts, at which point I’ll list some ideas and consider possible directions. I’ll then get a good sleep and get to work in the morning. My plan is to spend Saturday developing my ideas and getting the game’s core down. This will likely spill into Sunday, which will hopefully mainly be about visual design/aesthetics. Monday will be for whatever it has to be.

I’m pretty much shitting it, but I’m absolutely determined to see this through.

Dutom Daray

This is my first. No idea what will happen to me. I’m nervous I’ll be sweating down on a segfault all weekend, or something. Like it will be for nothing. Oh gosh.

So, tools: I was going to use LÖVE or Polycode, but I don’t want a learning curve slowing me down so I’m using C++/SFML to develop the game. Sunvox and Audacity for music, possibly sfxr for sounds. And then mspaint.

I’m hoping for Glitch, Lifecycle, Replication or Surveillance. But I know it’s probably going to be 10 Seconds, so I have a vague idea prepared for that.

Okay, that’s it.
