First Ludum Dare

Exciting to try Ludum Dare for the first time!

I’m sitting here with 4 friends which all are ready to participate in Ludum Dare, we will all be making our own individual games.
I will be posting my progress on @BasicBird!

My tools are:

Visual Studio 2012 Express for my IDE.

Paint.NET for programmer graphics!

MonoGame for the first time! (Got experience with XNA, but that’s about a year ago since I used it last time ;))

My backup plan will be Unity3D if I will have too much trouble with MonoGame!

Good luck everybody!

I’m in

This is my first Ludum Dare. I’ll be using cocos2d-html5.

Oh Hi!

I’ll be joining the LD48 shenanigans for my second time! My first was LD #24, so it’s been exactly one year.

Once again I’ll be using Python with PyGame, but this time I’m a little more prepared and have a code base to start working with. My plan is to make some sort of multiplayer game since I like playing with friends!

I won’t be live streaming or anything, but I will put a timelapse together after my entry has been uploaded.

Tools:

  • Python 2.7
  • PyGame
  • PodSixNet for networking
  • Visual Studio 2012
  • BFXR
  • Audacity
  • Photoshop
  • Starter Code

Looking forward to having a good time and playing all of your awesome games!

Intended to join in 12 LDs ago

I guess now will suffice, nothing to get in the way of me this time 😉

Anyway, I’ll be using Java, as it’s the language i’m most comfortable in. Using the Slick2D libraries. I also have some basic code setup, which just has a framework to allow for easy drawing of things in the correct order, and is viewable on github, with a couple of test graphics just to check it worked 😛

https://github.com/Ciaran54/LudumDare27

so yeah, all of the tools:

Graphics: GIMP

Sound: HTC One as a mic, and audacity to edit

IDE: Eclipse

Good luck all, look forward to trying out everyone’s work 😉

I’m in

I’m simply declaring that I will most likely be using my existing lighting engine, depending on the voted theme.
The code isn’t released yet, but the source will be included with the project if anyone care.
I’ll later officially release the engine with documents and everything.

My tool:
• Game Maker: Studio with every module (And lighting engine)
• Paint.net for graphics
• Reason 5 for music

Good luck Ludum Darers.

Pre-compo ramblings

Welp, the compo starts at 2 am this time rather than 3, and I’m just about to sleep, so I’ll be more behind than last time. However I know what to expect this time, I’m so glad I joined the LD community when I did, it’s great, all of it!

In addition to the tools I’ll be using, I’ve got a little app called Trello for both the browser and my android phone, to keep track of stuff that might need adding and updating, but you’ve probably heard of it before…

How could I forget?! I don’t have to make the music on FL Studio alone, I forgot I can play the guitar for perhaps a different atmosphere. We’ll see. Who knows what will await us in a short while?

Anyway, good night, you should get one too 😉

I’m in once more.

I’ll post some pretty battlestation pics later.

This is my 6th LD! Can’t believe I’ve been doing it for 2 years.

I’m doing the jam this time. With an artist + sound guy, because I know when to stick to my strengths
So all that’s being used:
Eclipse
PC or Macbook.

I’m attending a local meetup. That’ll be cool, as always.
I’m writing some background code beforehand, that way I can focus on gameplay.

I have a lot to thank LD for.
When I started, I had a few years of dabbling with code under my belt, and barely any education (only UK highschool). I couldn’t find a job, even in the lowest paid industries. I applied for anything and everything, and I got nowhere.

LD made me focus more on programming. I knew I had it in me to be good, and I already knew a fair amount of Computer Science basics (like the concept of OO).

Cut to 2 years of 60 hour weeks later. I’m a fairly respected App + game developer. I’ve got a few indie games under my belt. Worked for 2 game studios, earn a comfortable living, and I’m almost completely swamped with contracts!

My life changed so much. So so much thanks to LD. I’m honestly getting teared up thinking about it.

Thank you.

Thank you all.

Good luck, and make games!

Wow, nice story man… Glad you got what you wanted and had some fun making games along the way 😉

Je suis dedans…

stripe_top

I’m in. I think it is the third time I’m participating, but I’ve done some MiniLDs too.

Tools : Unity3D, a tiny bit of Photoshop, some free sound tools like S/BFXR

and Autotracker and code from my previous entries.

Expect some ASCII art / super retro retro art.

Good luck to everyone.

I’m in!

I’m hoping to enter for the first time, but I doubt I’ll be waking up at 2am to do so from the start! I’ll be fitting coding in around real life and starting out with something small using HaxeFlixel and an old copy of Fireworks.

Good luck everyone!

I’m In LD27

I’m in.

Pure unity attempting to make a single touch game targeting, PC, Mac, Android, WP8 and Win8.

Sound and Music from generated tools.

Art, unsure maybe Hexels.

Me too! Me too! I’m in!

Woo! 3 hours to go!

I’ve done a couple of Jams before (creating My Little Terrorist and Less) and this time around I’m entering the Jam again with @NerdOfGamers (a.k.a. KJScott) and @db434 (a.k.a. Dan).

I’m going to stream the whole thing. There’ll be hot beats and (if my team mates are cool with it) webcam and microphone too!

My setup will be:

  • VIM and IPython in place of an IDE ’cause I’m hardcore like that.
  • Python with Pygame for code.
  • If I have to do graphics, I’ll do it with GIMP, although I believe KJScott likes Paint.NET.
  • Most likely, sfxr for sound effects and autotracker for music.
  • Platforms will be PC, Linux. Mac‘ll probably work but we won’t be testing it ourselves.

After sleeping, we’ll start streaming around 10.30am in the UK, 9.30am UTC, 3.30am CST. Come and join us!

Love,
Tom

Second time

Hey, this will be my second LD.

I’ll be using javascript with the Jaws library again.

Here’s my base code. Mostly a collection of functions that might come in handy.

This time around I hope to spend some more time on graphics and sound. I might even try creating some simple music using sunvox :)

Hey, oh! Let’s go!

This is my fifth LD in a row! I can’t believe it still makes me nervous! 😀

I’ll be using my classic combo:

  • Unity (w/ 2dTookit if in 2d)
  • Blender if I need anything 3D
  • Gimp for textures or anything image-related
  • Pickle for pixel art if any
  • I’ll try to make some music with Figure for iOS…
  • …or plan B: Autotracker-Bu 😀

For the first time I’ll surely be using an external library called OuyaInputFramework that allows me to use OUYA, XBox360 or PS3 controllers with the same codebase. Cool! If I have the time and fits, I’ll also publish an .apk for the OUYA :)

Good luck everyone! Let’s make some games!

just a typical ” i am in ” post

well i guess it is time to write an “i am in post” like the tradition of ludum dare says .

okey then ……… (i am in) wait there is more ..,. the tradition doesn’t stop here …..

this is my second LD , my last one was LD 26 of which i learned a lot , i managed to finish my game (using flixel which i just learned before the jam ),and i won the 705 place from 1610 other games (at least it is above average )

so ……… enough talking about the past  .  this time i am entering the jam (if you have seen my game in LD26 you must have noticed how much i suck in graphics(gladly the theme was minimalism so i got away with it ) ) so the graphics part will be done IgorGreen

(a skilled pixel artist)

tools for me :

IDE : FlashDevelop

Engine : Flixel and AS3

MapEditor: Tiled

TimeLapse : Chronolapse

tools for igor :

i dont know them write now (but maybe i will right them in another post)

later :)

3 hours until it all starts: I’m in.

imin1

I am ready.

Well, i hope i am. This will be my first Ludum Dare and i will not have many hours to work on the game. There is a lot of Bundesliga to watch, a lot of Formula 1 to enjoy.

But i will try anyway. If the theme wins that i hope will win, then i have a good idea in mind that i can hopefully manage to pull off in the time i will have. If not, well, i will have to improvise.

Programs used will be:

  • Unity or Flash | That depends on the game i am going to make. I say it will likely be Unity, for i usually love the easy fullscreen mode and 3D possibility (if i will make a 3D game, which i doubt) over the a bit easier development process in Flash
  • PyxelEdit | Most likely graphics style will be Pixel Art, and i have been using PyxelEdit for some time now
  • Audacity | I doubt i will be able to produce any quality sound material though
  • PhotoFiltre | For quick adjustments to the graphics
  • Blender | Again, unlikely i will make a 3D game, but wont rule it out as an option

Good luck to everyone in advance, i am looking forward

Lars Faust

I’m in!

It’s been a year since my first LD and once again it’s a bank holiday weekend here in the UK, so I’ll have the Monday to recover.

I’m otherwise engaged for most of Sunday but still hoping to fit in plenty of programmingtime. I might fall back to entering the jam though.

Just like last year, I’m using a library I’ve never used before (LibGDX then, pixi.js this year), and just like last year, my only prep has been to follow a tutorial and make sure I can render a sprite to the screen.

Last year I came top in the innovation category (which I was very pleased about) but didn’t score so highly in the ‘fun’ category. This year I’ll be aiming to make the funnest game I can.

Good luck to everyone who’s taking part!
