With either processing or unity, depends on the theme and available ideas. My goal for this one is to have sounds that aren’t shoehorned in during the last 3 hours.

back for the first time

greetings internet

for this, my first dare, i shall be using:

unity 3d, paint.net, visual studio 2010, quibicle constructor(maybe).

a pleasure to meet you all

Well, I’m in!

Hi there!

This will be my very first LD, and my first major attempt at seriously making a game. I’ve done 3 years of a CS course at University, and have done plenty of extra work with JS – so I figured I’d give this a shot. At the very least, it’ll be an informative experience. At best, I get myself a good game out of it!

I am spectacularly unprepared – a busy weekend last weekend and work this week means I’ve not had time to prep what I’m going to do or even what I’m going to build this with.

But!

I’ll be using…

  • JavaScript / HTML5 for creating the game. I’ll be finding a 2D game engine to build this with (possibly JoyJS or something similar).
  • Notepad++ as my editor
  • Mercurial / TortoiseHG / Bitbucket for source control
  • I may be using Tiled to generate maps with. But maybe not.
  • I’ll be getting art from either somewhere like OpenGameArt, or just throwing something together myself. My image editor is Paint.NET.
  • Sound will either be from some LD-related sound effect generator or there’ll be none. If I have time, I’ve just started learning guitar so I might do some background chords or something.

Well, uh.

Wish me luck!

I’m in.

So, I’m in my new place, and I don’t start work for another week or so, so it seems that this Ludum Dare is well timed for me, hopefully I’ll get something done this time, as recently I’ve had a poor track record in recent Ludum Dares.

First day’s progress (1.5 hours in)

I’m going to make game similar to “Paper’s Please” called “Seconds, Please”.

The idea is you have (haven’t decided which one to go for yet):

  • Ten seconds to eat the food or find a discrepancy between what the waiter said and what is on the plate.
  • Survive ten waiters. Some plates may be  contaminated/poisoned.

I’m thinking of changing what I was going to write the game in (C++) to JavaScript. As I plan on the game being simple and easy to “download” and play.

Mind Map

Hello, world!

Hi all! I’ve known about Ludum Dare for quite some time now, but this is my first chance to actually participate in one.

I know it’s kind of late to do this, but I’m announcing my entry into Ludum Dare 27.  I will unfortunately not have much time to work on my game due to some real life events, so I don’t anticipate having a very polished project ready by the end of the compo, but I’ll try anyways.

My setup:

Game Engine: Game Maker: Studio Professional Edition

Sprites: Built-in GM sprite editor, perhaps photoshop if I need it

Music/Sound effects: Composed in Anvil Studio as .mid files, then converted to something more up-to-date such as .mp3 or .wav

Thanks for reading! I wish you all the best of luck!

I am in… maybe

Hi there,

Almost missed that this weekend is Ludum Dare. Have some party in between on Saturday evening. Let’s see if that will get me off track. I will decide if I really will attend based on the theme.

Language: Java with LWJGL

Tools: Eclipse, 2d: Paint.NET, ASEPrite, 3d: Blender, Milkshape

Have fun and make great games!

In!

Well, since I failed to find a partner for the Jam, I’ll be entering the compo.

Tools:

Java;
IntelliJ IDEA (Community Edition) OR Eclipse;
Paint.Net AND Paint;

SFXR OR BFXR;

Something for music if I get to that point.

Best of luck to everybody! Oh, and don’t forget to have fun!

Edit: Dropbox too. Maybe something for making executable jars easir, but not sure.

Finally in… but not alone.

Yeah… I’m in again in my second Ludum Dare, but my brother “TaxisDude” is gonna help me with his pixelart skills.

PS: That’s bad, i’m trying to improve my english but i think i’m worst than the previous Ludum Dare. If we do a Adventure Game could be hilarious.

Altough I’m not a native english speaker, I had no problem understanding your post.

Ludum Dare countdown broken for me

For some reasons, the countdown ended at 6 pm and now that it’s 6 pm, it’s going back up in reverse. Interesting.

Countdown

Eastern time for anyone wondering. I suppose it really starts in 2 hours then.

I’m seeing this too… leaving me rather confused. I was all excited to start now; its a bummer the time is wrong!

Low Memory: concept

So at first I was all “10 seconds? What??” but then there was

[Drawing]

Low Memory

You only have enough buffer to record 10 seconds’ worth of commands before sending them to your marooned robot. Left, right, or fire thrusters. Anticipate time passing freely in the world as you prepare your transmission.

You must decide whether to spend precious seconds picking up garbage for fuel or make a beeline for the exit.

first Ludum Dare!

Can’t wait!

SO LOVE SUNVOX!!!

I’m in for my first solo comp after 5 jam participations…

Yep, first time doing the compo…
I usually do the LD with a team of friends but this time is solo time! 😀
Hopefully I’ll manage to have something complete and working in the end ^^
Goog luck everyone!

I’ll be coding in Haxe 3 with FlashDevelop, and probably doing pixel art.
Music & sfx if I get the time…

BTW code will be there: https://github.com/OIIOIIOI/LD27
Base FD haxe project has already been pushed.

Don’t know if I’m in or not.

I’m going to be leaving for college in a week, so this weekend might be best spent with family before I go.  If I have some free time available, though, I might try making something.

I might use Unity, though I often seem to have a problem where I wind up spending too much time trying to make decent looking 3D graphics.  Maybe I can manage to keep things extra simple this time.

First LD! Bring it!

Well this is my official “I’m in!” post!

I’m a longtime unofficial game jammer (alot of late nights prototyping out an idea), first time LDer!

Tools:

  • Unity + Monodevelop (i know…why not VS?)
  • Photoshop + Filter Forge
  • Cheetah3D (super simple fast cheap 3D modeling)
  • GarageBand

Platforms: Win/MAC/Linux/Web

Hoping for “10 Seconds”, “Glitch”, “Replication”, or “You must leave it behind” themes!

In, for the third time

So, This will be my third time entering this comp and actually finishing a game.

My Tools:

Language:  Java

IDE: Eclipse

Lib: Slick2D (Maybe)

Art: Paint.NET

Sound: SFXR or BFXR

Music: (Haven’t the foggiest)

We’re in!

Well, we are!

This time we’ll be using either:

Flash AS3 via Flashpunk or

Python with pygame and my own little library (not uploaded, will do at the end!)

I’m in!

Fourth time in the compo; I’m using C# & XNA/MonoGame, Visual Studio and Gimp, Ableton Live & Audacity for graphics & audio.
