LD27 August 23–26, 2013

Let’s Go.

Here we are again, time for another attempt at making web games and letting feature creep destroy any attempt at finishing on time without cutting core mechanics!

I’m going to be using Ruby on Rails on this one, slapping it on Heroku. But I’ll be using my open source “sitehub” install of Rails as a base so that there’s less boilerplate (and I already have Steam Auth sorted out! Yay!)

So umm.. time to sleep because I’m on UK time and hoping to wake up early to the theme in the morning. Chronolapsing will of course be to come.

Im in !

My first LD :) I will be using Unity + Gimp.

See you in the morning!

Hi. I’m in and here’s my framework code that I’ll be using

Hi everyone.

This will be the first time that I’ve attempted a game jam/competition and I just spotted that I have to declare any previous code that I will be using for it so here’s my small collection of helper classes.  There are more but they are specific to the game I’m currently working on (Double Jump) so I just wanted to say that I might use them but they will be changed to fit the data structure of the game I’ll be making for the event.

Here’s a zip of the framework project folder and the classes I may adapt from Double Jump:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/48542022/MariosKalogerouCodeBase.zip

Good luck to everyone and I can’t wait to see what games come from this event :)

Marios Kalogerou

EDIT: I’ll be using C# /  XNA, GIMP / Inkscape, Reason / Audacity / sfxr

I am in!

Alright, well this is going to be my first LD. Hopefully I can do well, and good luck to everyone else!

Programs I am using:

Photoshop: For all texture work.

C++/OpenGL: For all the graphics work :)

BASS API: For all the sound and audio.

May the games forever be in your favor!

Also, here is a bitmap font I made before the contest.

Immina give it a shot!

First Ludum Dare, I’m gonna try to make my first game with AS3 and Flixel. I’ve got a little program called Pixen for the art, and for the sound… there probably won’t be any sound for this one.

I am going to try Ludum Dare

For 2 years now I have been making games and websites but have always been scared of trying Ludum Dare even 3 years ago before I got into game design.

But due to some inspiration from Seppi to start, I am going to try this.

wish me luck~!

Time-lapse in OS X

I want to create a timelapse video with screenshots showing what I’m doing during. I’m on OS X and made this script to help me do that: screencapture.rb

You pass a directory as argument, that directory is created and every 5 seconds a screenshot is saved there. The script can be killed and when running it again with the same directory, it will continue saving screenshots, in another “session” folder.

Ludum Dare 27 :: Why Not?

I’m terribly ill right now, but I’ll try to make a game anyways. This will be my first Ludum Dare (attempt). I also just learned the syntax for ActionScript a few hours ago and have never made a flash game before, so this should go smoothly.

Language: ActionScript3
IDE: FlashDevelop
Library: Flixel
Sound Effects: I don’t know, I may just do foley sounds.
Music: Probably FL Studio
Art: GIMP and/or MyPaint

This can only go swell.

I am so in!

Wooooooo, Ludum Dare!

I’m in with my usual team, and maybe 2 other people.

Code: LWJGL or LÖVE, not sure yet. Possibly Scratch or Stencyl, if I can get them to run without lagging.

My workspace :)

See you on the other side!

I’m in (Hopefully!)

I’m in and, like usual, I don’t feel that hot about what I’ll be able to get done this weekend. I have a work deadline this coming Monday and my GF’s back in town after a week long work trip so it’s likely that my weekend is going to be eaten away by non-LD stuff. However, I tend to enjoy the mad rush to get things done!

My platform: Eclipse ADT on Windows

My language: Java

My Library: LibGDX

My Art thinger: No clue yet! (Probably paint.net)

2.5 hours to kill… (and also my base code)

Woke up an hour ago, ate a cucumber and an egg sandwich with milk for breakfast, it’s 3:30pm in Vancouver Canada and there’s still 2 and a half hours to kill…

Well here’s the base code I’ll be using:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rwnnfi1q4etclyt/thcbasecode.zip

It’s an unfinished bare basic tilemap platformer engine in C# XNA 4.0. Collision with tiles is artificial since I kept the tilemap as a 2d char array and had the player and enemies handle collision by checking for the indexes of the relevant tiles/chars based on their own coordinates and then determining if the tiles are passable. This way we won’t have to iterate through all the tiles on the map every time, only the specific one or two tile right below or next to the player.

Comments are pretty scarce but feel free to have a read if you want.

Best of luck everyone!

Let’s do it to it!

I’m in for the compo, though if work/life stuff gets in the way too much I’ll fall back and submit to the jam.

Nothing too much to talk about as to my tools. Just another Unity/C# user. If I decide Unity isn’t a good fit for the theme/idea I get I may fall back to Ruby and the Gosu library, but I’d rather use Unity for the sake of the webplayer and being able to turn the game loose on Ouya after the jam/compo.

Lets do this!

We are in!

We missed it last time but now we are ready to JAM!

I plan to use Libgdx for the code and we are using Photoshop for the artwork.

Good luck everyone!

I’m in for the Compo!

…and so is my Voxel Object Editor if I’m allowed to use him.

voxel object editor

Information:

Language: C#
Engine: Unity
3D Models: My unnamed Voxel Editor
Other art: Gimp
Music: CGMusic/FL Studio

I’ve never participated in any game jam except for the recent 7DFPS before, so I hope I can get some cool stuff done anyways.
See you soon!

First time for everything – I’m in!

Choice of tools depends strongly on the theme and idea, but either:

C++ with SFML2  and Box2D, or the Unity engine are most likely.

  • 3D Modelling: Blender
  • 2D Graphics:  GNU GIMP
  • Sound: Audacity

Anything else, I really hope I haven’t got to learn on the fly, but I’ll make it work some how.

Aiming for the Comp, but I’ll manage my time poorly no doubt — so there’s always the jam!

I’m In!

The Tools I will be using:

  1. Gimp for graphics.
  2. BFXR for sounds
  3. LMMS for music
  4. Audacity for sound/music editing recording
  5. Flashdevelop for the ide
  6. Flashpunk for the engine

Are you really talking about the ld28, or was it a typo?

Fourth party alternative to the hate-filled propaganda from the towers:

Base code at the last minutes while panicking

So here’s my base code (Unity Script Cheat Sheet) that I collected from a bunch of test projects while doing usual morning chores and panicking:

https://github.com/euske/uscs

It starts from 10am here. I have to do my weekend laundry and garbage dumping, etc. before that, and I still haven’t figured out how to make a music! It’s all panicking. Actually, pancaking.
