LD27 August 23–26, 2013

I’m in!

Watched for many few years, time to make something!

The Tools I will be using:

  • JavaScript/CSS/HTMl5
  • Adobe Fireworks/Photoshop for graphics
  • Audacity for sound/music editing
  • Tiled Level Editor
  • Probably Windows Calculator

I’m In!

This will be my second LD compo, it’s going to be a good weekend! :) This time I’ll be using:

Language / Engine: melonJS

Graphics: GraphicsGale / ASEPRITE, maybe GIMP

Sound: iNudge + Audacity worked well for me last time, but maybe just SFXR

I’ll be using my barebones melonJS base project (https://bitbucket.org/skyleanderson/melonjsbaseproject) which is just a  pared down version of the melon boilerplate. Anyways… details details; I’m ready to get to work!

BURN TIME

lander game thingie

lander game thingie

You pilot a lander with 10 seconds of fuel. You need to recover several items, but depending on your level of skill you won’t have fuel to recover them all. Maybe you have to choose between rescuing some engineers or recovering some much-needed supplies, with gamey and nongamey reasons to recover one over the other. Maybe there will be a few levels strung together by my first attempt at (gasp) narrative, giving some kind of weight to your choices.

First time for everything

This will be my first ludum dare…. !

I intend to use GMS, paint.NET and some royalty free music… will see how it goes and good luck to all!

I’m in!

This is pretty last minute, and this’ll be my first full LD, or LD ever for that matter.

I’ll probably be using python and pygame, or C and SDL.

I’ll most definitely be using sfxr for sound too.

However, as I want to reach the largest audience possible, I’ll most likely use python.

As this might affect my decision, are there any compilers that let you compile to different architecture?

I’m using gcc on Debian if that changes anything.

As long as you have a windows machine you can use a pygame2exe.py script. Can’t remember where I found it from, but that’s what I’ve been using. Look it up from my previous game’s linux source (it’s in the root), I havent uploaded it anywhere, I really should.

And regarding the architecture if you go with C, I’m pretty sure you can’t do that. Good luck though!

Yeah, I was thinking of using py2exe for windows.

Sad that C will be unfeasible though, or at least slightly harder.

You’ll just want to use Python, C is way too slow if you are planning on getting anything proper done. Also, don’t bother using fancy frameworks and content engines, just code features after features and hope it all sticks together well

Yeah, I wrote a few wrappers for SDL that make things many times easier, but I’m using python anyway.

First LD

This will be my first Ludum Dare. I’ll be using:

LibGDX

Gimp/Paint.net

Reaper/Reason

Bfxr

Hopefully I’ll come up with something respectable, I’m ready for the challenge!

Fun fun fun!

I am gonne be participating this time around with a makeshift 2D library i put together, hopefully i will be able to use it.

The library allows me to create levels in Tiled, do simple conversations, it has Nape physics integrated into it and a few other goodies :)

The source is here:
https://github.com/sebbdk/ASTLib

I also set up a small page that i will post updates on FB

Rock on!!

Theme Inevitability

Oh well. Hope it’s something other than 10 seconds just to keep me on my toes.

Framework: LibGDX

Tools: Blender, Audacity, GIMP, unreasonably large whiteboard, my mitts

Consumables: Coffee, Beer, G&Ts with excessive amounts of lime

Been trying to learn a bit of LibGDX in the previous weeks, and I’ll probably just stick to Desktop and Android deployment… because Google Web Toolkit, while it would be nice to have html, is just too wonky to run.

I’m in!

I’m in, as usual!
Also as usual, I have no particular thing in mind, even as far as tools. I just wanna make a fun or interesting (or both) game.

Bored and anxious while waiting for the theme to be announced? Since I assume you’re a game fan, you might want to watch this video I made this week about my software that automates the playing of Nintendo games (it’s like a simple general-purpose NES AI). I think it will entertain you. The site has the original video (which you should watch first if you haven’t) and paper and now executables for windows so you can try it out yourself. :)

Good luck! I always love seeing what you come up with!

Unity class for resizable GUI

Hi guys. I’m going to be using my class that I wrote earlier for user interface during this Ludum Dare, so I’m sharing it here for those who want a quick solution for fully responsive GUI with Unity without using any external plugins and stuff. The original post is here: http://blog.sergeymohov.com/fully-responsive-user-interface-with-unity-gui/. You’ll find the API there.

Get the GUISizer class here: http://goo.gl/wgdFX6. You can also download an example project here: http://goo.gl/5F5PIY. Or, if you prefer, the same thing as a UnityPackage that you can import into your own project: http://goo.gl/GKczDm.  The source code is also added to the bottom of this post in case the links die. If you use C#, then feel free to put GUISizer.cs anywhere you want in your project. However, if UnityScript is your cup of tea, then it has to go into your Plugins folder. Otherwise you won’t be able to access its methods and structures.

Why are you not drinking loose leaf? 😉

Waiting for first dare

Hello Everyone, I am waiting for the first dare to start.
Really excited, I made a personal GameJam with some friends 3 weeks ago and we got something nice going there, still that one was in team with a friend.

For this one I am going to use:
-Unity 4.0
-Illustrator (since I am not good with art I will use it to make curves and send them to Maya)
-Maya (some basic stuff)

Not sure how I will be making the audio but I might hummm lol.

Also if the theme goes in some way to “Horror” I might go directly to the dare instead of compo because I need a project to get going.

Hope you are as excited as I am.

:D:D

I’m in again!

This is my 3rd attempt in two years.

I’ll be using C++, glfw, lodepng, ftgl, jansson. I’m not sure what library to use for audio, though…

to make the content, bfxr, paint.net, Autodesk sketchbook, a kazoo, a ukulele, a toy xylophone and a mouth harp.

Good luck everyone!

Some Progress

Well I have the main menu done, time to work on the actual game.

Main Menu

My idea is to use the term second as someone that is below you in rank. In my game you are the CEO of a company and must control 10 individual managers of  various departments in order to lead your company to wealth.

Also they say dual monitors leads to increased productivity but so far it has lead to the opposite.

I also have a stream up at www.twitch.tv/daOyster

Mmm

I’m happy with my game so far so that’s good. :)  (Engines 85% done. 125 Lines.)

I’m streaming!

I’ve been streaming for a while now but I haven’t gotten any viewers. I’m a 12-year-old developer who is making a game using JavaScript/HTML5. Watch and I will be happy

I’m really happy to be part of this event, by first time i wanna make something on 2D and without matter the theme, i want to finish the video game.
I take this like a training with my friend @gRross but each one of us will be working at their own video game.

The tools that i use:

C#
XNA
Corel Painter Sketch Pad
Gimp
Mypaint
Wacom Intuos4

A little of food and drinking much more malt and beer well.
Regards and bless everyone
