LD28 December 13–16, 2013

Yeah, I’m in too.

This is going to be my forth time. Never accomplished a finished game deu to wanting too much.

And last time my laptop crashed in the middle of my progress. So sad… It was going to be awesome.

This time, it just has to be done! Before I die I must have completed at least one ludum dare.

My tools: Unity3D, Microsoft Visual Studio C#, Photoshop, Fruityloops and probably some other tools that are added along the way.

Good luck to all of you guys!

Only 8 hours left to help fellow Brazilian ludum darers raise money for charity!

Hey guys, just one last reminder that the bundle deal is almost over. I’ve explained it better in another post (http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2013/12/03/super-br-jam/).

PS.: These are games developed by some of the top brazilian devs, plus 8 commercial games, in a pay what you want bundle. ALL of the proceedings are going to a charity institution that provide full time education to poor children that would otherwise be on the streets.

Tips needed from OSX users

Hi LD’ers,

For last time I wrote a bash script that takes a screenshot every couple of seconds, so that I can create a timelapse. But in some timelapses from others I see a webcam screen somewhere in the bottom. I think this adds a nice touch. Is there anyone using OSX who can give me advice of how to accomplish an always on top screen with the feed from my iSight?

Much apreciated!

For those also wondering, I found the app 3rd Eye Mirror lite in the App Store, if you don’t mind a popup every 15 minutes orso, it does exactly what I want, you can also pay $1,99 to get rid of the popup

I declare “In!”

I posted a rule clarification a little bit back, but I figured I’d throw in my official “I’m in post.” This is my first Ludum Dare after watching the past few years. No idea how it’ll go but I’m looking forward to it. I end finals on the 13th so it’ll be just in time to start programming…but almost no time to warm up.

My tools:

–For code: Unity (Java)

–For graphics: Photoshop, Flash (for some animations), Blender (if I decide to go 3D)

–For sound: sfxr, Audacity, possibly Otomata

Best of luck to everyone!

I am In

So, new jammer here, this is the first time I’m participating. Maybe this will force me to finally finish a game that I start to code.

The weapons of choice are:

code: Python, and C if necessary.

art: GIMP, Inkscape.

sound: sfxr, Audacity, Hydrogen.

Everything on Linux baby! It’s not fun if it’s not hardcore!

I’ll try to stick a fighting game in my entry (unless the theme is pacifism or anything like that ) ,  because I started one many times and never finished, and that would make a good code base, or at least functional one, to expand later.

I’m in, definitely!

Just bought Game Maker Studio Standard, I think its time for LD 28!

My tools of trade:

1) Game Maker Studio Standard

2) Linux Multimedia Studio (Not sure if I am going to really touch this at all)

3) Audacity

4) GIMP

The final product of the game will be released on:

1) Windows (including 8)

2) Mac OS X

I can’t release it on any other platform because it is just the Standard version, but I guess this is good enough.

My artist friend *might* join me, if he does, that would be great XD I am ready to solo any time though.

I may not have much experience in programming, but I guess I will give it a try for the Jam! 😉

Never taken part before… Oh well!

So I’m new and would like to take part. I think I’ll join the jam. Any recommendations for software to develop my game in? I’ve had small amounts of previous programming experience but I think it’ll be fun to join anyway.

Im in

I’m in the Ludum dare 28 :) :)

Ludum Dare #28… I’m in!

28th Ludum Dare ? I’m in!

I’ll try to do a game with:

– Eclipse

– Paint.NET

– Notepad++

And… my mind, should be a great idea 😀

Maybe it’s a bit too early to say it but, good luck all!

Never entered before

Never entered in a Ludum Dare. Been waiting for months now.

NIKRA Update and LD28

This week I’ve been cramming in more and more content into NIKRA, it’s starting to feel like a real game now!

Check it out here: http://www.endesga.blogspot.com

I’ll also be doing LD28!

Tools of the Trade:

I’ll see you guys soon!

-ENDESGA Studios

Prepared for the LD28

I’ve been thinking about it and I’ll participate in the LD28 😀

I will dare to do something different, so the tools chosen are:

– IDE: C9.io
– Language: CoffeScript
– Platform: HTML5

And for the rest, something more conventional:

– Graphics: Photoshop / Pixelmator
– Sound: SFXR

Who isn’t in? I’m in…

Obligatory post, no video this time.

tools: c++(and a compiler of course), OpenGL.

Nothing else, that is all, will try to make a 3D game.

Удачи!

voidqk is in!

Let’s do this!

I’m thinking of using HTML5, using SoundManager2, and perhaps Three.js for 3D stuff if the game calls for it.  FL Studio for music/sfx, if I have time.  Photoshop/Paint for graphics.

I will publish my game on my website, smashware.com.

Can’t wait!

EDIT:

Live-blogging here

IT’S ON!

This is going to be my third Ludum Dare, and im really looking forward to it. I have evolved so much since my fist Ludum Dare, and i am eager to show myself and everyone else just that! So let’s make this Ludum Dare the best one ever!

Here comes the traditional tools list:

Programming Language: Java
IDE: Eclipse
Audio: Audacity/Soundbible/sound effect generator that is linked somewhere on ludum dare
Music: FL Studio
Extra Libraries: LibGdx

So there you have it, now stop reading this and go make games!

Inexperienced in the Arts

I don’t have much artistic experience to speak of. Doing even pixel-art sprites are very difficult for me because I lack a history of drawing. My only sprite experience has been with extremely limited sprites on the Atari 2600, which are practically colored outlines more than full-on sprites.

Tonight, I’ve experimented with a style similar to Superbrothers: Sword ‘n Sworcery, which I absolutely adore. Since it’s very pixel-by-pixel, the level of detail and accuracy in sprites like Shovel Knight isn’t necessary, and I appreciate its use of implied detail and the focus on animation while letting the viewer use their imaginations to some degree. I’ll probably be shooting for a style similar to this for the upcoming Ludum Dare, unless my idea (whatever it is) just isn’t appropriate for it. I suppose I have to start somewhere.

If anyone knows of any good tutorials for newbies to learn drawing/pixel art, I’d love it if you’d share them!
