First LD & Hopefully first FINISHED game

Hello!

After messing around with game dev concepts for a few weeks I am going to do the only logical thing and try to complete a Ludum Dare lol :)

Engine/Code: Unity & C# (A language I’m trying to learn now)

Graphics: Ragepixel and Pixelmator (I suck at this, I’m not going far beyond pixel art)

Sound: Strong area, probably a combination of Ableton Live, Renoise, Max4Live, Reaktor, Field recordings etc maybe even that sfxer everyone speaks highly of.

Wish me luck, I will need it lol. Hopefully I can find the IRC channel and ask some nice people for help there :)

I’m in.

Hi guys my name is CJeeeh. I’m a 17 year old game designer and I aspire to go to college to become a computer scientist.

I’m going to be livestreaming my Jam at www.twitch.tv/cjeeeh if you want to watch.

Engine: Unity 3D

Languages: C# / JavaScript / HTML (with some CSS)

Modeling Program: Blender 3D

Textures / Graphics: Photoshop CS6

Game Music: FL Studio

Fuel: Monster / Red Bull / Coffee (Anything I can get my hands on)

Web Site: ashenskygames.dx.am

I’m in

I have an exciting challenge for myself for this Ludum Dare.

Since I am completely busy all weekend, I’m going to try to practice honing scope of design. I will be spending 6 hours riding a train on Sunday morning. I will use that time to do my actual development. We’ll see what we can come up with by the end of that. :) (Expectations: Low)

I will be working in my mobile environment, so I will be running

Software:
Unity 4 with Playmaker, NGUI, and ProCore add-ons.
Blender 2.7
Gimp 2
FL Studio 11

Hardware:
Razer Edge Tablet (Unity Dev/Art Assets)
Nexus 7 Tablet (Testing)
iPad 4 (Audio)

Best of luck Jammers!

In for the first time!

I’ll be entering the contest with my teammate Tetriste. This is the first time either one of us will do a game making jam!

We’ll be using our own engine we did as a school project. It will probably get messy :). The engine is in C++ with GLSL 3.1 shader support. It includes the following libs which me might or not use:

  • CImg
  • freeglut
  • GL
  • glew
  • GLM
  • libpng
  • PhysX
  • zlib

Here’s what we will be using in term of software:

  • MS Visual Studio 2010 and 2013
  • Github for code sharing
  • Photoshop CS5 and Gimp
  • 3ds Max 2013 (maybe we’ll just go with glCubes instead…)
  • FruityLoops for music.

We’ll also be using a database of sound at soundsonline.com.

I’ll try doing a timelapse of the process at the end :)

I’m in, as usual. ;-)

I think this is my 7th attempt. I’ve only (arguably) finished 3 times… but I’m in again. I fully intend to finish my game this time, but don’t I always??

No worries. I’m an optimist, so of course I’ll succeed this time!

I’m in the middle of some intense development of a couple of other projects, so I may just do the jam to make it easier on me. I salute anyone who finishes a game in 48 hours. It’s tough, but it’s a good challenge and can be a heck of a lot of fun!

My tools, as usual:

Unity (UnityScript)

Notepad++ for coding

Blender/Anim8or/LithUnwrap for modeling/texturing, if needed.

PhotoFiltre/PhotoShop for the pixels 😉

Spotify/Youtube for motivation

LMMS for music if I need any

I’m hoping for Deep Space as the theme, but it probably won’t be…

It’s going to be fun. To everyone else, remember to have fun yourselves!

… Until next time~

My First Attempt

I’ve made some games in the past so now I’ll see if I have what it takes!

My Base Code for LD 29

For LD 29 I once again intend to use the base code I already used during LD 28. In the last few days I have polished the base code a bit and integrated a few additional classes. To adhere to the Compo rules I would like to remind you all that my base code can be found on github: https://github.com/ZYXer-/ludum-dare-base-code

My base code is a simple game engine which I originally created during LD 26 and LD 27. It is written in JavaScript and can be used to create HTML5/canvas games.

Features:
– a basic game loop
– mouse/keyboard input processing
– image/sound preloading (I’ve significantly improved this)

Additional classes:
– loading and displaying PNG fonts
– particle systems
– pathfinding (using A*)

Newly added classes:
– playing sounds (using SoundManager2)
– client for synchronization with server (see below) including a simple login & sign up screen.

I have also added a simple server (written in PHP), which could be used to synchronize some stuff, but which is definitely not suitable for a real-time online game.

I’m distributing the code under the GPL2 license, so feel free to use any part of it for your own project. And please – like always – report any bugs 😉

First LD!

Ok, im in, first ludum dare, hope i have fun and i finish something :D.

Engine: HaxeFlixel

Language: Haxe

Tools: FlashDevelop / Paint.Net / BFXR

New Year, New LD

It’s 2014, and I’m psyched for LD 29!

Tools:

Language: C++ or Java
Libraries: SDL 2.0 or LWJGL
Graphics: GIMP
Music: Not sure, anything I have on my computer that exports to MIDI or WAV
Sound FX: CFXR

Good luck, and have fun :)

Not a Begging for Money But if you want to

https://t.co/7kgFNU8E25

I Would love to have Access to Game Maker Studio Master Collection so that I can release my games on a Multitude of Platforms without having to rely on Friends (My other programmer friends) to export for me
If you are feeling nice perhaps consider sending me a few dollars to help my cause
The link is at the top of this post

Please note I am not begging you to send me money you can do it with your own free will :)

I’m in!

I’ll be using c++ & emscripten.

Good Luck everyone!

Dark Souls II Just Came Out

This is my first Ludum Dare and I’m really hoping that it goes well. In order to reduce the chances of getting distracted/taking long unnecessary breaks I’ve opted to wait until Monday to purchase the new Dark Souls. What do you guys do to help you stay motivated and on task?

One thing I did when I got bored was take a short break (~15 minutes away from the computer) every once in a while, or look around on the Ludum Dare site and admire all the amazing things people come up with. The latter is usually was motivates me again to make something awesome!

Final Round Picks

I see a lot of people post these, and I never do. So why not, right?

I really need to get more time to prep more for this event. As it stands, I’ll barely have any time even tomorrow. =p Don’t worry, I’ll figure it out.

Wow we’re complete opposites hahahah :D! Can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with, even with your short time.

What I’ll be using

Ok, let’s check… I’ll be using:

  • Game Maker Studio (Pro license), and may or may not focus on HTML5. I’ll probably decide along the way what to do.
  • Adobe Photoshop with an Intuos 4, if I get that thing to work again.
  • Maybe Spriter, although I’ll probably stick to pixel art and therefore will animate directly with Toshop and Game Maker.
  • SFXR, which never fails to amaze me.
  • Instant noodles and loads of tea.

Gosh how could I forget how exciting this is? I feel like I’m atop a rollercoaster, ready to roll, but quite not yet. This moment where time is frozen just before the ride is so thrilling!

By the way, would anyone know a good procedural music generator? Thanks in advance!

In preparation for the competition…

Over the past week I’ve been working on a game called “Isolation”, using HaxeFlixel. I really hoped that’s what the theme would be when I started.

Anyway, I started the game from scratch this evening on Game Maker Studio, and I completed more in these few hours than I had done this past week.

Look at the damn snow, and how it settles on the ground! Mm mmm!

Oh, also, I couldn’t help but notice a lot of people here are called “in”… “I’m in”, “Hello In!” I’ll see myself out…

Interesting. About the snow, seems it doesn’t lags a pinch. I haven’t actually done any stress test in GMS, so I don’t really know how much can it handle. Maybe I’ll try doing something like that.

I’m in!

This will be my first dare, feeling kind of rusty in the game development area and I want to refresh my knowledge.

I’ll be using JavaScript and the Canvas Tag to get a simple game going for LD 29.

Ummm yeah, so hi

I don’t know if this is even necessary, but hell, there it goes. Muramasa reporting that he will be in. Heh, I’m referring to myself in third person, whatever…

I’m going to mimic what I’ve seen other people do, because I’m that much of a monkey :D (?).

Engine: Game Maker

Language: GML -not much of a choice-

Tools to use: GraphicsGale for graphics. BFXR, FamiTracker, Audacity for sound/music.

Now, I want to share some of the dev time (or whatever). The PC I’ll be using has some problems with streaming, so I’ll be making a timelapse. ChronoLapse SHOULD work there, if not then I’ll commit suicide. Nope, not really.

I need to travel tomorrow to my parents house for something… After that, I’ll finally meet up with my compo partner (my PC <3), and then 48h of pure gaem maek!

So yeah! That’s all the story. Now let’s see what the theme ends up being…

And this is my first time, so please be gentle. <3

These are not the droids you are looking for

So allegedly, I should be able to write a game using my Android tablet. On a plane. So I will be using the following:

Android IDE

My files (like, a lot)

Sketchbook X

Artflow

Pixlr Express

Recforge pro

Boeing 777

I will be starting from an existing project (feng shooey) and removing game logic. I’m doubtful I will get the apk on google play within 72 hours though.. :/
