LD30 August 22–25, 2014

In for Comp

Fourth Comp entry! I’m excited. Might have less time than usual but I’ll definitely try to have something completed by Sunday night. Thinking smaller scope and more polish than my previous games. We’ll see how long that lasts. As usual my tools below:

Code: Flixel with FlashDevelop.

Graphics: Photoshop.

Sound: sfxr and Audacity.

In for 30!

Third LD, second time doing 48 hour compo, ADVENTURE! I’m swamped at work so I’m gonna try and keep this weekend way more down-scoped than usual.

Engine/Tools: Construct 2

Graphics: Gimp

Sound: sfxr

Music: maybe inudge?

Not sure if I’m gonna stream this time (http://www.twitch.tv/wertle), but if I don’t I’ll time lapse for sure. Weee!

I’m in!

Super excited to do my very first Ludum Dare!

Engine: Construct 2.
Graphics: Pyxel Edit.
Language: Javascript.
Sounds: BFXR.

Cannot wait. Let’s see what the theme is this time!

Getting ready for #30

Shopping for good coffee… CHECK; snacks… CHECK; chocolate… CHECK.

Tooling this time:  Construct2, GIMP, PickleEditor, Audacity, BXFR, iPhone for music recording and lots and lots of sheets of paper, a pencil and pen.  Open Broadcast Software for Twiching my efforts #LudumDare

Hot tip – gleaned from another LD’er, apologies can’t find it again to give you credit – it is worth spending a few minutes now coming up with an idea for all 20 possible themes… then you have a flying start when it all kicks off.

Favourite theme: Chaos

Everybody have fun now!

I’m in for Competition

Hi all,

My name is Hakan. I make 3d models for a few years and learning gamedev in unity with c# for 2 months. I am excited to be participating Ludum Dare. Let’s have fun.

3D Models : 3ds Max

Game Engine : Unity

Programming Language : C#

2D Designs : Photoshop

I’m in!

I’ve been following Ludum Dare for over a year. Followed the voting, played a ton of published games after the LD weekends. But I’ve never participated. Why? I have no good reason why, yet I’ve always managed to find _some_ excuse to put it off – deliberately put in other plans on the LD weekend to have something to blame on, boring theme (not true ofcourse), and so on. I know Unity-chan fairly well, I know code fairly well (I even write code for a living!) But now it’s enough of that! I have no excuses for this upcoming LD weekend either, so this time I’m gonna participate! I’m happy and excited to do this! I can do this. I will do this. I must do this.

Tools

Engine: Unity3D

Coding language: C#

Graphics: Paint.NET + Photoshop

Sound: Sfxr

Good luck to everyone participating and may the theme be awesome yet again (of course it will, duh) !

I’m in!

This will be my first jam/competition I have ever entered.

Language: C#
Engine: Unity3D
Graphics: Corel PaintShop Pro x6, MS Paint, Blender, Pickle
Sound Effects: Bfxr, Audacity
Music: Not sure yet. (Hydrogen maybe)

I will be streaming on twitch.tv (first time for that as well) the coding and game progress. http://www.twitch.tv/lorddraficus

I will also be updating a Git repository with all of my games code/resources every so often (for those who wish to see how bad my coding is). https://bitbucket.org/atsmith/ludum-dare-30/overview

Good luck everyone!

No idea if I’ll be doing it. Probably not :(

How could I not?

Ludum Dare’s turning 30, of a fashion, and I intend to celebrate!

I’ve got a pretty solid game idea that I plan to mold around the theme; my brainstorming notepad is filling up with ideas and requirements. This one’s going to be voiceover-heavy, I think, which should be lots of fun to do. Given the audio requirements, I’ll have to lean on other people and Creative Commons sound/music a bit, so I’ll be entering the Jam. Here’s hoping for a good theme.

I’ll be using Javascript with HTML5 (Phaser) or Unity2D. Audacity for audio capture & editing, Inkscape for vector graphics, Sublime Text for coding. Simple enough.

I’ll have to miss out Saturday completely

I’ll be entering the game compo on Friday but due to real life events I need to miss Saturday. I can finish my second day on Sunday, but is Saturday the last day for the compo and is it against the rules to skip a day?

Thanks

-Ethan

It’s possible to write a game in one day. It’s possible to write a game in one hour (even in C) but seeing as you have a day you’ll come up with something reasonable.

Let’s do it

Hi people! I will be joining again. This will be mine 4th LD. To sum up last LD’s:

  • #26: First LD, finished with “game”(not really playable concept)(compo)
  • #27 First playable game, my favorite LD, (jam)
  • #28 Failed, tried to do 3 new things that I never tried before(hex map, procedural map generation, strategic game). On Sunday evening I barely had map generation and scrapped the hexes. (jam)
  • #30(???)(jam)

Yes, when I last tried new things everything went err, less than ideally, but I will try something new nonetheless. This LD I plan on doing some kind of daily(or bi-daily) reports on what I have made. Generally being more social(since that wasn’t a thing before for me)!
Ah, yes tools:

Code: C++11 in Visual Studio 12
Libs: SFML2.1, Thor 2.0, TGUI v0.6.5(maybe) and Pulsip(made by me!)
Graphics: Paint.NET
Music, sound: BFXR, abundant music, maybe blipseq
Misc: tea(still have to buy me some, this bagged stuff is of no use), pen and paper, git(+SourceTree)

I’m in (LD #30)

I’m in, looking forward to LD30 throughly kicking my butt. First LD, only second Compo. Did complete MiniLD 49, and have been looking forward to my first LD.

Like with the MiniLD I did, I will be starting with a empty text file, and will be using code I developed in the 48hrs. Without the use of any javascript frameworks, no jquery.

Code: Javascript, HTML, CSS

Editors: Notepad++, Brackets

Graphics: Probably SVG Edit (https://code.google.com/p/svg-edit/)

Music: Don’t know if I’ll get to it, possibly FL Studio

Misc Software: Ghost TimeLapse, for capturing a full TimeLapse of the development.

Misc: Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee

BretHudson->participate(Jams::find(“Ludum Dare”, 30));

I’ve been “doing” Ludum Dare ever since LD #23. Have I ever finished? No. Either I don’t like my project, the weekend becomes busy, or that one fateful time, my game became unplayable due to a memory leak (I used to not know how to debug).

This time? Oh ho ho, you all have another thing coming. I’m joining, and finishing the game.

Tools:
Otter2D or FlashPunk, possibly Unity (all depends on what the theme is and what we decide to make)
Dan Fessler (he’s not a tool (in both literal and metaphorical sense), but he will be my team mate and make the game more than single colored polygons)
– Audacity (sound effects)
– Google (to get code help, find music, and entertain me when I get stressed out)

There you have it, I’m in it this time 100%.

In for the fourth time

Hi everyone, this will be my fourth participation in Ludum Dare! A short summary of my other three Ludum Dares:

  • LD27: I made Comet Run for the theme 10 seconds, I am creating a Java port at the moment.
  • LD28: Failed due to lack of inspiration for You only get one.
  • LD29: I made Ore Genesis for the theme Beneath the surface, first time using Java.

The tools I am using this time are:

Code: Java with LWJGL, SlickUtil and the self written wrapper Gloom.

Graphics: None for the game itself,  otherwise Inkscape.

Music: Fl Studio.

I wish everyone good luck!

Linux users?

I have seen some ‘I’m in!’ messages where people say they are going to use Linux, but not all users inform that. I would like to know how many people is going to use Linux and which distribution. Personally I use Xubuntu (Ubuntu with Xfce).

Do you use Linux? Please leave a comment if you do!
