More shapes means better Theme score

progress3

Ultimately, there’s going to be 64 combinations of robot states – tools are still to be implemented so for now there’s just these 16. The chassis properties are there in code, but without any enemies or other level entities, there’s no differences in behaviour to demonstrate.

I still have to actually write up the interface to select these – the idea is that you’ll only be able to have a limited number of enhancements activate at a time (starting with just 1, eventually getting up to 3) so you have to choose between, for example, seeing through walls, moving quickly, or being able to open doors.

UPDATE x: VARIABLES :D Soundtrack out!

Even though the soundtrack is just one song, Its out! Depending on If I have time or not, I will make a defeat, main menu, ect. until then I’m stuck w/ this.

For the last couple of hours I worked on the level for my game. After taking a break I looked at it and somehow.. it looks.. like something, like a guy with a gun or something.. Do I hallucinate? Weird…

Whoops…

I change a value when trying to get the vehicle to fly and it freaked out and went into hyperspace or something! xD

I just need to add a help screen, clean up the code, and add sounds :-)Screenshot1671570706Screenshot1674217035 Screenshot108764297You can take screenshots in game with F2

Making some progress…

Quite pleased with what I got so far. Mostly doing some fine tuning and adding some flair. Here’s a little preview of my little game:

Square Peg, Round Hole

It’s (shift)shaping up quite well 😉

Just finished my entry for the compo.

At least my girlfriend likes it… So… that’s a good point… I guess…

Now I need some feedback from people who actually know anything about video games ^^

slimy_fellow_3

So why don’t you come and give a try to my game : A Slimy Fellow .

How’s it going for me

So far, things are going great. I’ve finished many of the levels, and there are just a few left for me to finish. The final product will hopefully have 10 levels. I originally wanted the game to have only 5 levels, but then I realized that it was way too short. I even made a very interesting menu for the game. I also decided the title of the game (it’s quite possibly the most creative title ever).

I also composed two “vaporwave” tracks for the game. One of them is very moody and melodic, which sort of fits with one of the game’s levels, and it uses samples from Giusto Pio’s Legione Straniera and Jurassic Park’s theme song. The other track, however, uses samples from Thomas the Tank Engine and it is essentially very atmospheric and slow. It’s not even a vaporwave track, in my opinion.

That was basically it. I’m making more stuff for the game. Thanks for reading!

I’m DONE!

Finally finished! As always I’m to tired write much, so just go play it. Might write a Post Mortem later on.

Finally Done!

Just finished up. Really happy with the feel and atmosphere. But the length of the game kinda fell short. But there’s atleast some replayability to it with the high score. I’m calling it RGB Escape.

Here’s some screen caps

Second Shapeshift

We thought we could share the enemy that got his Shapeshift implemented and a nice effect added. After placing him in the test scene he managed to find some friends chasing me while trying to test his new shape shift Ability. 😀

Progress!

We are doing fine! The main mechanic is almost finished. As you can see in the picture, villagers are having conversations randomly about likes and dislikes. Our hero needs to transform in something a villager likes or he’ll be punished.

You can see a playable version here: http://ld35.surge.sh (the villagers are just ignoring the hero for now).

We are working on the HUD and we are not sure about the position of the “transformations panel”. It’s going to be a kind of sidebar probably.

As we are participating on the JAM we have an extra day to do more improvements to the game but we want to finish a full playable version today.

See ya!

Nearly done?

Hi everyone!

It’s my first post this time… I have to admit I haven’t been very focused on the jam, not sure why, and even though I made a very simple thing I am not sure I will have the courage to polish it.

The idea is that you have to move on a board and change shape using the spacebar to fit the tiles you’re stepping on.
There’s a score board and if you’re fast enough and finish the 4 levels, you can get on it!

Anyway, here’s a screenshot of what I got so far, and it’s testable here if anyone’s interested: http://dev.androidandrea.com/ld35/
I’m also available on Twitch for comments here: http://www.twitch.tv/andreaunlimited

6 hours and 30 minutes to go! Good luck and have fun everyone!

Progress and checking if GIF still breaks~

Trying a .gifv rather than a .gif this time. Gets an ugly border but hopefully at least it doesn’t stop working after the first two or so views of the post like GIF’s have been doing lately…

Here’s the current progress of the game by Ava, Marte and Morten!

(actually it’s from a few hours ago and some more progress has been made since)

View post on imgur.com

We’re following the theme both narratively and mechanically.

The octopus is the dynamic shapeshifter of the game, which is a mechanic. The tadpole gradually grows into a frog during the game, which is a narrative. You swap between them and use their respective abilities to solve puzzles and clear the way.

Friends tho they become, they cannot stay here together! :’c An octopus belongs in the salty sea water and the frog must stick to freshwater. Some nasty punk threw the bottle with octopus into this puddle.

Marte and Morten have already gone to sleep. Ava just wanted to do some final work on the frog, but now thinks it’s for the best that she too go to sleep not to fall out of sync with the others for the final day of the jam. Good night and good luck to all jammers!
