LD35 April 15–18, 2016

Hoping that I’m in

The whole grad school and mid-terms week thing totally cramps my LD style, but if I can finish one short paper in the next 15 hours, I’ll be in for LD#35!  Probably won’t be able to put an optimal number of hours into it, but I hope I’ll at least get *something* done.  Probably will stick with my now-normal tools of JavaScript, NotePad++, and GIMP since I haven’t had any time to prep for anything different.  Good luck, all!

Just a heads up, you won’t be able to use NCS in the compo.

I have a question for you guys..

Unfortunately, I can’t make it to this year’s Ludum Dare.

To be more specific, I can enter for about 10 hours annndd that’s it. I don’t have any more time.

So my question is – have you ever got into a Ludum Dare you knew you barely had time to?

If so – how do you feel about that now? Do you regret it? Do you like the spontaneous-ness of it?

Can you link the entry you made?

I presonally think I shouldn’t try to get in, but if you were in my place – what would you do?

I have participated 2 times knowing that I had very little time. It turned out pretty ok I think. I had to scale everything down to really simple graphics, simple game idea, and simple mechanics.

I dont see a reason not to join, even if it’s just 10 hours you got. You still get great experience, and it’s still fun!

I did a Ludum Dare in only 10 hours, It was’t all in one chunk, but it as 10 hours in total. I would like you the game, but I forget which one it was :P. Anyways, you should still give it a shot! If you end up not liking it, then don’t submit it, but at least you will have probably learned something along the way!

I did my first LD in around 4-6 hours since I started from scratch in Sunday evening. 10 hours is plenty to make a game, as long as you keep it simple.

I’m in (I hope!)

This weekend could be very busy with stuff. Or could be very busy with game-making. Hopefully it’s the latter.

Getting ready for 3rd time…. :-)

My Dino
Tools that I gonna use,

  • Libgdx – A Java based game engine (https://libgdx.badlogicgames.com)
  • Audacity – For audio editing
  • Photoshop – Visual stuffs
  • Notepad++ / Eclipse

If it gets delayed, I may go with Unity3D & C#.

Atleast this time, I should make a proper, complete game. 😀

Good luck to all!!!

I’m in

4th attempt at participating.

I’m not sure if I’ll be using either Unity (using C#) or Gamemaker. I suppose it’ll depend on what ideas I get with the theme. In any case, both softwares are more than ready to go.

Artwise I’ll just either be using Paint.Net or Gamemaker’s editor and soundwise I’ll use LMMS and Audacity.

Lets hope it’s this time around that I’ll finish my entry ^_^

It’ll be a fun and learning experience regardless.

Have a great time, and make sure to choose something really small to make. Then scale it down. Then you’ll end up making something half that size. :)

I’ve done 5 ludum dares so far. Not a lot but enough to have some stat points in “intelligence” hehe. My advice to you: Keep it small, don’t hesitate to scrap everything and use something you are familiar with (if you know GameMaker, stick with it). Also, sleep enough. 48H is a lot, don’t worry about time, you’ll benefit greatly from sleeping enough! Good luck to you, Tweet me @Phylhip if you need help :) .

Without Fear, I’m In!

Hi all, this is my second entry to the ludum dare.

The first was in the last Ludum dare, the number 34 where I participated with an artist to create this… Well… To create this. (Click to enter)

It wasn’t a big deal, but I was happy because I achieve the #38 of the Humor category with my first entry, so there is something.

Now I participate again as a programmer but without an artist, and alone so… we will see how this ends.

As always, I will use my loyal partners:

– Unity Personal Edition
– Aseprite
– Audacity
– And maybe my guitar for some chords

Have fun and good luck!

LD35… I’m in!

Hi everyone!

So, I’m here for the 3rd time, I’m doing the solo compo (48hrs). I’m planning to use the following tools

  • Unity 5, scripting in C#
  • Blender for 3D modeling, and animation
  • The Gimp for 2D and texture
  • I’ll use some free VST synth and a midi-usb keyboard to write some background musing
  • … And well, I’ll improvise for sound effect

The event start at 3am tomorow morning on my timezone (Americans, you are lucky!)

I’m not that familiar with Unity, I actually haven’t done real GameDev since the LD34 and it was my 1st time using it “for real”.

Looking at the final round of theme voting, I don’t really know what to think. For me the hardest thing in game jamming is to find a (good) idea. That what I like with Ludum Dare, the imposed theme give a direction for your mind to start thinking. Plus the exchnage of idea on #LudumDare (don’t wait for the theme on Twitter, go chat with us on IRC!!) it’s great!

Good luck everybody! 😀

6th time in a row!

This is my 6th time in a row and I must say it gets better every time!

I’ll be using Stencyl for the game engine and as for arts Photoshop, Lightroom, Ableton, Bfxr, Audition, Audacity are tools that may or may not be used.

Good luck, I wish everyone an other eye opening and joyful run! 😀

I’m in!

Sup peepity-peeps,

Jared from Tasteslikefuture here, and I’m definitely in for this ludum dare!

I’ll be utilizing the Unity engine, as well as blender, GIMP, garageband, and maybe some new stuff. All the themes seem pretty intriguing, and I can’t wait to see what all you mad men and woman dream up! Good luck to all participants, and if you’re thinking of trying out ludum dare for the first time this year, I have but one piece of advice: JUST DO IT! No matter what you create, there is always such a wonderful sense of satisfaction in completing something, and you’ve got a whole community of people willing to check your work out and give you plenty of helpful advice and insight.

Let’s do this thing! Aw yeah!

I’m in [exclamation mark]

I’m using this post as a promise to myself:

At this point I’ve no clue what I’ll make, but make something I shall.

You’re not supposed to know what you’re gonna make yet, that’s the fun of it! I usually only predecide if it’ll be 2D or 3D :)

I’m in!

Time to finish my first game. I’m using Unity for this.

Good luck to everyone and have fun!

Hey! Its my first time joining Ludum Dare.

Heres the tools im going to use:

Coding : Eclipse

Art : Gimp or Photoshop

Audio : Audacity or Mixx 2.0.0

Good Luck Every one!

I’m in!

This will be my second Ludum Dare, aside from a couple of miniLDs. I’m very excited (as always) for the jam, but even more so this time around because I’ll be doing it with a team.

I’ll be using Unity and either Flash or Paint.net. Can’t say much about sounds because I’m working with a sound guy this time, but if I end up doing anything with sound it’ll be in BFXR.

Good luck to everyone participating!
