LD35 April 15–18, 2016

Im In!

Hi, everyone. This will be my second time entering the Ludum Dare competition. Last time (LD33), I managed to complete a game, but it was more of a prototype than a game because I didn’t have enough time to replace the placeholder graphics or add music and sound effect. This time, thos ehtings will be more of a priority and I’ll make sure to get them done!

Tools:

  • Engine-Unity 3D
  • Graphics-Photoshop, Illustrator, or Blender
  • Sound-Audacity, Bosca Ceoil, Bfxr

Digital Apathy in

Digital Apathy with 2 members in this time – plink and dj_pale

Tools of the trade:

  • Gfx – Photoshop + asesprite
  • Sfx – ?
  • Music – Most likely Garageband if we have time
  • Programming language: haxe
  • Game framework: luxe engine
  • IDE – Atom

We’ve prepared some templates that we might or might not use based on haxe and luxe here: https://github.com/DjPale/LD-template-luxe

Good luck everyone!

This will be my third try at a Ludum Dare “compo”.

Same tooling than last time: npm packages (mostly stack.gl), browserify, some blender modeling with an Eclipse IDE topping. Oh, and I may reuse non-gameplay code from my github snippets and previous LD entries.

But different objectives: hopefully I’ll spend less time learning and pushing the technical envelope, and focus on gameplay elements. Answer in 50 hours :)

Guys, Fund LD!

I just noticed the new sidebar indicating Mike Kasperzak’s monthly earnings. When he first put out the request for pledges I put down 3 dollars a month, figuring that there must be a thousand people at least that commited. I am not the household income earner, so I didn’t want to pledge more unless it was neccesary. Then a few months ago a poll was sent around about having advertisers, something that I personally am against. I wrote so and some reasons why, then doubled my pledge. Seeing these new numbers, I increased to 15 because something needs to be done.

The numbers are going DOWN. I dislike trying to guilt people into doing things, but if even a tenth of the people participating were to submit that original 3 dollars (36 dollars USD a year remember, a bit over 40 in Canadian) that would easily exceed the goal.

36 thousand dollars minus taxes and expenses is basically a living wage, is that so much to ask for this bastion of creativity and gaming pleasure? Please, give generously…or even UN-generously, but give something. Surely we can all agree that LD is worth having one less bag of chips every month. Look at what you are making me write! I HATE asking people to do stuff.

Don't make the wealthy hispanic man cry!

I’m in!

I will try to finish something this time, so this will be my first finished LD.

I will probably be making a 2D Unity game.

I’m super hyped, but also pretty scared, just like last time :-)

I’ll be using Unity, MonoDevelop, MagicaVoxel and Audacity.

2h left!

Hello!

This is my first Ludum Dare.

I don’t know yet what programming language I’m going to use…

I am deciding between:

  • Python with Pygame
  • Lua with Löve

Good luck and have fun everyone!

Oh man, go for love! It’s gonna make it so much easier for people to try your game. Pygame always seems to go bad on me whenever I give someones game a shot.

Ik doe mee!

Or, in english: I’m in!

I will use Love2D for my game this LD. Maybe Inkscape as well, since that worked well (altough still ugly as poop) last time, and I have my trusty Inkscape guru @Walnoot with me again this weekend! Oh, sound? Uhm… Otomata/Soundvox? I will also try to stream if it’s not too much trouble in the morning.

Good luck everyone!

hey

hey whats up dudes

Hi there, we wanted to give some small updates for the jammers here!

MachiaVillain Ludum Dare

Zimra and I made a ludum dare three years ago with the theme “You are the Villain”. The result was The Villain’s Rules, a game that reached #6 overall and Silver medal on Theme (yay!). We also wrote a post mortem about it. After finishing some important projects, including the game Freaking Meatbags on Steam, we began the production of Machiavillain. Machiavillain is the evolution of The Villain’s Rules, and while we changed some things, it’s still in the same silly spirit.

Basically, the game changed from a linear level with traps to a procedural world where you have to raise your monsters, build your mansion and slay the victims by the villains’ rules. The game was really praised for its mood, the horror clichés and the jokes. We wanted to go further on this funny side and deliciously evil mood while making the game more management / strategy style. We felt it was definitely better mechanics that can be played for longer hours.

Making ludum dare was very important because thanks to that Zimra could work on her first game, I had an interesting project to build after Freaking Meatbags and we’re even doing our first Kickstarter!

Meet the monsters, discover our gameplay systems and come see our mad scientist laboratory on Kickstarter. You can donate with blood or money… just kidding about blood. Or maybe I don’t. Not sure.

PS: we gathered more than 20% of our goal in the first 24H hours ! Thank you everyone :)

This is my first Ludum Dare.

I participated in the last Global Game Jam and I had a lot of fun.

Also first time going solo, I just hope I’ll manage to finish something playable.

Will probably use Unity 5, Inkscape or Graphics Gale, sfxr and BoscaCeoil

PS: I have no clue about graphics and music, so…good luck to me 😀

I’m in

This is my first Ludum Dare. I’ll be using:

  • XNA/Monogame
  • Paint++

And depending on the theme, I might make something multiplayer using the Lidgren networking library:

I’m in with my new game engine!

I’m in for another Ludum Dare, this time with my newly written game engine (github.com/neon2d/neon2d) if everything goes well with it. Otherwise, I’ll be falling back to Java once more. My tools are as follows:

  • neon2d (its in beta, but everything should be good) & Visual Studio
  • Java & Eclipse (as a fallback)
  • Paint.net
  • Beepbox.co (if I have time for sound)

I’m really looking forward to doing this again, good luck to everyone else participating!

We’re In!

The team of Mike K. and Jason M. are in for our first official Ludum Dare!  Having done several practices in the past (school schedules never seem to line up with LD,) we’re hoping to complete our first game in 72 hours!  All going well, we will also be live streaming the whole weekend over at the Cyberlight Productions Twitch!

Our Tools will be:

Engine: Unity 5 / MonoDevelop
