Been making a lot of progress but can’t think of a name.
I’m stuck. Lemme know if you have anysort of suggestion, it doesn’t have to be related to my game. Thanks!

Did not expect this theme to win 😮
So far, I have some generic ideas and one interesting one, but the interesting one is too complex to be done in two (or three) days to a satisfying degree and the generic ones are not motivating me enough to spend the weekend on them.
But maybe I find a new idea, or I find a way to down-size the big one or to make the generic ones more interesting.
Good luck to everyone!

and I just realised we just followed you @amymist on twitter earlier!I have a good idea, an interesting story and a schedule of things to do. I have no ideia if the project is to big or if I have the know-how to do it. Let’s try. XD

The goal is to make it back to barn alive whilst escaping hawks, cats, and other predators. Walk/jump around as harmless little egg/chick and eat seed/insects until shapeshift to chicken mode. Once in chicken mode, you can do short ranged fly. I have 4 bars of music inspired by Yakety Sax at the moment, sounds actually like a Polka or something… 😛 I struggled a lot with the ground, because I’ve never tried to make tiles before and this is my first 2D game.

I only now just realized that the ‘compo’ is going on. This is gonna be my first, so I’ve got to give it some first impression. Let’s do this.

Almost 3 hours in a brainstorm… We gotta a game!
The art and the programmers already started.
Go Mush!
Greeting from Brazil!
Pixelart + ShapeShift + OnlyMouse!
(for some reason I can not post image) =/
My idea is a game that lets you switch genre at will. This means that you switch out all of the visuals and character abilities and enemies for an equivalent from a different genre whenever you want, and perhaps chain combos through the transformation. Currently I’m going with three themes, Medieval, Sci-fi, and Wild West so I made three playable characters to go with them. I’m a programmer, but my concept seems like it will demand some art, so I’m starting with that!
My Characters. (How does one make a picture show up in the post? I’m new to these posts.)
Spent a lot of time brainstorming at the start of the compo. First I was like, “Yo. Let’s make some shapeshifting blobs.” But then I realized everyone probably thought to go that direction. So I said, “Nothing Organic!”
That didn’t stick.
The product of an hour and a half of brain storming:

Nearly 4 hours in, and a terrible prototype is just starting to come together.
Will be streaming most of the compo at CaseyGoesMeow on twitch.
Edit:
PS. I’m using Game Maker: Studio. Photoshop (and occasionally paint) for sketching design docs. Final art will be done in Illustrator. Audacity and Reason for sound/music respectively (if I get to that).
We’ll see if I come up with anything, but now it’s time for bed. I might just end up working on my current projects. I’ll start streaming development if anything comes to mind, though.

Working on the music track for my compo entry. Here’s a little sample of what’s going on.

Have some basic eating and moving down. Need to find a way to make it so that you don’t get “stuck” when you stretch too much. Probably calling it a night here.
It’s an interesting theme! Same tools as usual
