LD35 April 15–18, 2016

Just woke up, let’s get started!

Ok, not quite sure want I want to do with the theme. Right now I have to make a choice between hand drawn 2D or poorely modelled and animated 3D?

Im In!!

Hey Guys I am offically in!

-C#

-bosca ceoil for music

Good Luck everyone!

Starting now, finally

I decided to make a shooter with three ships with different fire patterns you can switch between. Not too interesting

playersshow

Those are the player ships. The goal is to make a 10 minute game that needs ~2-3 hours of gameplay to beat, with a loop.

May need to go into the jam.

I’m in! Shapeshift… Okay…

I will use Construct for this time. It faster and Construct helps to make a fast prototype of the game. I just need an idea…

it all starts like this

hes gonna hop around on his own and ill probably make candies that he tries to follow and when he eats one he changes form

Im doing this

As usual I’m doing the compo, got quite a nice idea for this time. Got a room display system up and running, might have a random generation system at some point, maybe.

But so far, so good.

Rooms

We’re in!

There are two of us–a first-timer and an old pro (6 games).  We’ll be using Unity, Paint.net, Audacity.  Can’t wait to shift some shapes!shape

Dammit, this looks exactly what I had in mind for my game…

First update!

So, I’m making some slow progress!

Isn’t much gameplay, but I wanted to try my best to make moving around as a fox feel good. I think I did a decent job, though it could definitely use some polish.

Also, testing some blood effects!

It looks cool! what is the name to test it at the end?

The great begining

We decided to create an adventure in the universe where you have to get to the right of the black hole to get back home. You are able to move between dimensions, where you have different characters, features and enemies.

LET’S DO THE GAME!

Ok, seem to have an idea, and even a title:
“3 Rules of 2 Color Shapeshifting in a Microworld on Torus”.

I hope you’re as excited about these frickin’ coloured squares as I am. I’ve even started on code that actually displays stuff onscreen, but I’m keeping the results of that under my hat for now. There may be clues tho.

Using:

  • Unity
  • InkScape
  • Sunvox

Have fun!

LD35! Super shapeshifting awesomeness!

Hey my name is Dan Rosser, I’m from Sydney Australia and I’m doing Ludum Dare for the first time, also individually and from scratch.

My background is a Game Programmer / App Developer for numerous games and apps. I’ve mainly been in involved in low level c++ ports and iOS/OSX/Windows/Android development in my career for about 4 years now.

My Tools: I’m using a creative coding framework called openFrameworks, a C++ framework of libraries / multi-platform, which I am also open source contributor.

So far today I’ve created a base game design, built a pipeline to export the C++ project to HTML5 via emscripten and working now on scene manager and constructing and testing my idea of the game design / story to the theme of shape shifting 😉

We’re in!

Oh man, it’s very early here. We woke up at 5am, ready for a very productive day!

So, we’re in. We’ve done an extensive brainstorming, we’ve got an idea we like, and we’ve brainstormed what elements we’ll use for that idea as well. All that left’s to do is… make the damn game!

We’ll be using Unity3D with C# and Visual Studio (and ReSharper!), adding in a bit of Ferr2D and TextMesh Pro and DOTween (because, I mean, can you use Unity3D without DOTween? :P)

We’re a team of two. I’m Abel Toy, and I’ll be acting mainly as the programer, and there’s Axel Compte as well, who will be doing some art, some level design and the general game design of the game as well. We’ll try to add in some music however we can, and also sound effects.

Our schedule will probably be:

– First day (today): Prototype and code in the elements and features of the game
– Second day: Levels, art, polish
– Third day: Polish and release.

Wish you all the best of luck!

Progress, Ahhh yessss

So a solid idea is there, and we have a base model and a semi-functioning prototype. Lots to do still but I’m excited. So is this guy.

First Night Progress

Hittin’ the hay for tonight. Progress was getting the player to move towards the mouse by a certain speed when you click. Good enough for me for an hour and a half.

(No gif so it doesn’t show the movement :P)

Also, I wasn’t very pleased but I have a starter idea. I will trudge on.

Good luck all and till tomorrow!

Progress So Far

We’ve been making great progress so far. We’re planning to make a randomly generated endless SHMUP that’s all about survival and leveling up your weapons. Here’s a GIF of a neat exiting warp speed animation we’ve created that will more than likely be how the game starts when you press play. We want players to get into the game as quickly and stylishly as possible.

Not gonna happen :(

I’d hoped to be able to participate this weekend, but… I’m still not done with this midterm paper, and I’ve got quite a few other responsibilities to deal with this weekend on top of that, so I’m just gonna save myself a lot of stress and exhaustion and call this one a loss.  One of these days I’ll be back though, I promise!  Good luck to you all!
