Shapes done, shift to do

Got shapes up and running as well as geolocation and a basic collect shapes game. Next up is to get ‘shift’ into the game. :-)

Progress (10 hours in)

TIME TO GIF

Thrilling, right?

The perceptive among you might recognize the level layout (unlikely). It’s lifted whole cloth from my earlier entry way back in LD29. That makes it twice recycled code, which you’d know if you read the description (very unlikely).

This time I’m not making the graphics either, so I’m totally developing on easy mode here. Go go teamwork!

More tomorrow.

This is what I achieve today. It’s over for a while, more tomorrow. Be like a sir.

I’m in!

I’m in!

I have a couple ideas, but I’ll probably do a game similar to those Japanese game-shows where the person has to fit through person-filled holes. Not necessarily as homo-erotic as Muscle March though.

I’ll be trying out libgdx, a Java game library. I didn’t take some time to use it beforehand, we’ll see exactly how bad of an idea that was…

Good luck everyone (especially fellow late-starters)!

Go get em and good luck! I like using libgdx for my projects. Be sure to check out the scene 2d and scene 2d ui packages!

Insecurity

Everyone’s showing elaborate games with fancy assets and I still have an unplayable mess of standard Unity assets.

Me too, i have NOTHING!!! Had an idea but thrown all away some minutes ago because Unity had some issues with my fast moving objects and so my idea was useless…

Learning for Godot

Hello Everyone!

Once again Red Bricks Studio is going to Jam this weekend.

Unfortunately only a part of the team has been able to make it, nevertheless we have 100% the enthusiasm.

This time around we don’t have any artists, so we will have to figure something out in order to make the game look great.

And since we are feeling a bit adventurous we are trying a new engine, so we will be using Godot Engine

We are working to make a nice tiny game, but when you split the tasks nothing seems so tiny

If anyone is interested on the toolbox:

Engine: Godot Engine

Art: Piskel, maybe even will generate random sprites

Sound: Bfxr (Sound Effects) + Bosca Ceoil (Music)

Source Control: Git (Hosted on Github)

Task tracking: Trello

Operative System: Elementary OS + Windows 10

We will post some gifs soons, so stay tuned!

Change of repo because everything broke

Fucked up some settings files so I made a new project and re added all the assets and code from the old one.

FINALLY a game concept

Ok, so I’ve got some sort of concept going.

Basically, my game is a puzzle game based on the impacts of ionising radiation. The levels of the game will be composed of three blocks that block the three types of radiation like so:

radiation

The blocks in the game will block entities from the radiation. However, when an entity is exposed to radiation, the SHAPESHIFTING comes in.

mob_irradiation<<An extremely detailed diagram of a sheep being irradiated by gamma radiation in accordance to the laws of my game.

When the entities haven’t been irradiated, they are passive and may help the player. When they have, they will become aggressive and will radiate the type of radiation that they’ve been irradiated with.

Yeah, I know- this is more “Mutation” than “shapeshift”. However, I’m gonna be working more on this concept to hopefully make it fit in with the theme more.

First time pixelart

Hi all!

Decided to focus on art in my first LD, as I’m a programmer and never really do any art assets. This is my first time doing pixelart properly, and it’s so nice to focus on GIMP more than code!

My game turned out to a sort of space invaders, as it’s easy to code and I can focus on pixelart and sound later on.

My progress so far with some sprites and particles:

Fylgjur’s character animations thus far. First time doing some animation work so it’s pretty tough on time but I should still make it.

Made quite some progress today!

I made a lot of progress today; made a custom loading screen, a menu and a playable state where nothing happens. Pretty good to be honest, the only thing I’ll have to do tomorrow would be adding a credit screen and making the game playable. I’m pretty happy with my progress, get in lads!

First playable version

First playable version of our game. We already have one special ability implemented, we just need to juice it up so that it is more noticable. I’m excited for when the art overhaul kicks in and the characters are more than just mere shapes.

Wot i haz dun

Yo, I’m not thaat happy with my idea, it doesn’t feel that original but it is simple so I’m hoping to make it feel rather polished unlike my other LD attempts (which both broke in the last day!!)

LD35-1

My idea is basically that you have multiple shapes that can resize and move and you can switch betweeen them to get to certain areas. I’m going to add colours to each shape and have different collision conditions for each colour

Then I need sound and level design

Good luck!!!
