Yep, an infinite runner in which you change shapes to adjust to circumstances. My first LD, so I thought I would rather keep it simple. Spent a horrible amount of time dealing with some texture issues,  but the prototype’s working!

Good luck everyone!

It slowly takes shape…

(can’t help it with the puns, sorry)

What I have so far

What I have so far.

Making good progress!

I promised myself I’d finish the core gameplay mechanics within my first 4 hours of work- and I did! I’m feeling really good about this one.

Finally have something playable!

Pretty simple concept where certain shapes counter others, like rock paper scissors. each different shape controls differently too. Check out the livestream at twitch.tv/lincomberg if you’re interested!

Hey all, STEAMTIME!

We had a good rest last night, and are back at it. And by ‘back at it,’ I mean that we’re back to being confounded and confuzzled by the idiosyncrasies of game-maker.TC;DR (Too confusing, Didn’t read): We’re streaming again.

Overview Of The Game

So for Mapped, you, the player, has no control over your shapeshifting abilities. This poses a slightly challenging aspect when trying to complete the storyline. The goal of the game is basically to map the world the player lives in. Now, the randomness of the shapeshifting makes it slightly more tricky to do that.  The map pieces are hidden in the different areas you can go to as certain animals. So basically, you are normally a human, but after a random amount of either 15-25 seconds, you can either be a human, a frog, a bird, or a pig. Now to go over the different abilities of each animal. For the pig, the only special thing is you move quite a bit quicker.  For the frog, you can enter watery areas such as lakes or rivers where there may, or may not, be map pieces. For the bird, the final form, you can hit the spacebar to fly, where there once again, may, or may not be map parts. It is also possible for the map pieces to be on the ground, surrounded by monsters. I may have gone overboard, but lets find out, shall we?

UPDATE III: Revamping my first LD!

I took the idea of legoes from my first LD, and I’m doing it now. Heres a preview, but I’m unsure how to fit the theme into tha game.

Level gen test, first game screenshot

screeny

Just a brief image, show a test for the level generation and all the different types of main blocks (in order of appearance: random wall material, aluminium, concrete). I also shows a start for a HUD with a doom-style character image. Looks quite cool so far!

Dropping out

I feel bad. Can’t get the game done, too busy and too much stress. Just not having fun making the game. Maybe tomorrow I’ll feel a surge of inspiration.

Here is what I was able to do.

I hold my thumbs for your game as well! I woke up with slight fever so I feel awful too… dropped some paracetamol and perhaps the evening will be better. And Seth is right, perhaps just take a nap. Who knows, maybe the inspiration will come in dream :) No pressure, but your timelapse looks promising.

Well, I would say the first day was OK

I finally finished with making the dam collision detection and a basic map loader.

My friend finished the story and made some concept art. We hope to start the actuall game tommorow :)

Shapeshifting puzzle game

Quadrisic

My shapeshifting puzzle game Quadrisic is playable and (imho) quite fun. Squares become triangles, and triangles become circles. Circles become squares again. Select as many of the same type at once to get more points. Feel free to comment with your best scores. And happy game jamming!

Slowly but surely…

screeny-2

Have my tilemap system, Player, and Spike object implemented.

Also have damage and damage cooldown + a visual indicator the player has been damaged.

Shape changing robot thing

I seem to always do robots or tanks.  Think I might go back to drawing board.. It’s a robot with telescopic arms and legs.
