Not sure about my idea
Few hours in I got an idea but I’m really not sure about it, what do you think?
You have to reshape a planet (for example into a triangle) by letting some missiles through

No sleep for 13 hours and we’ve done most of our sprites as well as a few audio tracks, we’ve got a main menu working for the game but for now still just working on assets.
Basic gameplay stuff is done. First levels also but i never did any sounds and there’s not enough time :/ (i have to stop jamming in 8 hours and start learning for exams…)
Game Idea:
Still Missing:
Have fun jamming.
Almost all game mechanics are in place, placeholder graphics are super pretty too!
I’ll let you know a bit more about the game once it starts to look like something more than just boxes 😀

Just like my previous LD’s. Got some sleep and cleared my mind, ready for more! I will add the theme into my game somehow later. Probably with enemies. or…..

The tutorial im talking about. A neat one about making a grid editor in unity: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZvnsP8zkW0fvStNdFhF05dzoXXIOA2-R
About my game… Did nothing but the mechanic is ready in my head.
Ideas didn’t stream as nicely as I’d hoped. That said I did manage to get something simple, and generic down. Better yet, it’s something I’ve wanted to make for a while: a 2D puzzle game reminiscent of ‘Adventure’ from the Atari (not that I’ve played it).
The game relies on the rather uninspired idea of pressing a button to change shape, entering portals of the correct shape, possibly collecting items with a limited inventory to unlock more portals, and reaching the goal flag. I’m also considering adding a step count—the fewer steps you take, the more points you earn. Very simple, should be manageable.
I’m at the end of the first day (it’s around 11:50pm onwards), and so I’ve decided to clock in, then head to bed. I managed to get the teleports to work with some level of abstraction (controller object calls scripts; global object holds keyboard values so, in theory, controls are changeable; can place multiple teleports, and they all teleport in order). Might not seem like a lot, but for an amateur who is still experimenting with scripts and states, I’m happy with my progress.
The plan for tomorrow is to add GUI and perhaps the keys, as well as make proper sprites—gods, I swear these are the worst placeholders I’ve ever used.
#gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Enjoy the eye-bleeding screenshot. It’ll look better! I hope…
Hey guys! Another update 😀
I’m getting back to work and at the moment, I’m working on the card system for my game. Will post screenshots soon!
I am excited to join my first Ludum Dare!
I am writing an interactive narrative with Unity, photoshop, asperite (or some online sprite program), and whatever sound effect generation software I can find for Mac.
Here’s a screenshot of what the game looks like so far…

My little ice cube friend is looking good!
My idea right now is that your character (a shape) must walk through a level and unlock new shapes. Each shape will have different abilities to help you get through the level.
Here you can see that I have basic tiles done and a pointless cardboard box in the corner:

here is the antihero of my game in all of its glory.
I’m making steady progress into my game as the day continues. Mapped – A Shapeshifting Game, my game has now implemented screen changing!

So there we go!
So I messed up. I was going to make a game like The Fantastic Contraption, but in 3d. But it’s not working out… I can’t figure out some things like creating and aligning proper hinge joints at runtime in Unity, and I’ve wasted hours on this, my teammates are all busy this weekend so I’ve been totally stuck on this alone since around hour 2. So I’m starting over and am going to try and do something else, hopefully simpler… wish me luck.

I’m doing this LD in bursts. There’s a lot going on over a weekend in my household, so I can’t do sustained periods of dev.
Last night before the jam started I checked out Spriter, thinking it might be a good way to do sprite anims. I’ve known people who’ve used it and had great experiences with it, so I played with it for a bit and made sure I could pull anim sequences into Unity and set them up. All was well. File that away under ‘if there’s time to add animation…’
This morning (Perth (Australia) Time the Jam theme was announced. I sat at the breakfast table with my team (their ages range from 7-13) and we talked about what we could do. We settled on an idea dubiously titled ‘Trouble Places’ which has been kicking around for a while.
It’s a platformer where your character is a mix of two animals – a head from one and a body from another. Each has its pros and cons, it’s abilities and liabilities. There’s melee and ranged combat. That’s about all we know. It might end up being local multiplayer just so that levels and so forth don’t need to be made.
We shall see.
Burst#1 was me getting some of the basic 2D platformer assets going in Unity, writing a camera that follows multiple objects at once (think Smash Bros.), and then setting the player object up with a health bar, the ability to pick up weapons, and of course the head / body split.
We came up with a bunch of ideas for animals, their abilities, and ways they could evolve as you power them up. Octopus. Turtle (technically he’s a tortoise). Elephant. Crab. Owl. Rhino. Frog. Chameleon.
Main concerns at this point are getting the structure of the player object heirarchy right so that all the bodies and heads will work when switched around, and having enough operability between various game systems (weapons, stats, movement) that the various abilities wont be too onerous to code in.
Here’s a screenshot with the three animals I’ve currently implementing using temp art I grabbed off the internet. All mixed up, Elephant, Turtle, and Octopus.

I’ve made good progress today. The game is starting to function.
Don’t have time to up any screenshots or the game. I’ll do it first thing tomorrow morning.
Now it’s bed time.
Goodnight!
My idea is much like the previous LD30 Connecting Worlds – very similar switch.
There’s another puzzle about the choice of the right cards.
This time, instead of transistors will be mushrooms (because mushrooms are funny). These mushrooms will eat the snail. Choose edible mushrooms, or die from poison.
The first version of a new game – very addictive.
PS Dean game (boy with robot) for GameDevParty#1
Let’s Go LD35.
