Balancing...
Balancing is hard...
I am going to try to make the game go into the hardest part in about five minutes. That way it won't just be sitting there for 10 minutes.

As our budget get bigger and bigger we can resort to use new and exiting resources.

our R&D department has after long sleepless nights and days, developed this MILITARY grade whiteboard technology.
Not much to look at, but the game play exists. Just working on fleshing out a start game, an game over screen, and other things that I'd generally save for the end because I want to be sure to have a complete game, even if I don't get all the crazy things done. Also, need to spend time working on the story. Still, having lots of fun.
Our development process started with a little disaster: electricity went off in our area. So while eating breakfast we agreed on what story and gameplay we will do for this LD and decided to go to the city center to D3C0D3 bar (SPb, Russia), which holds LD events every time. We thought that this place will have ideal atmosphere and, what's more important, electricity.
A little info on our game: it's graphic is inspired by Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, so my personal goal is to make it cohesive with nice bright elements. Please note, that I'm a part-time amateur artist, not a professional one. My favorite style to work in is pixel art. Today I tried a little more minimalistic pixel art than usual, it feels different from what I'm used to, and therefore is challenging.
Finished: - space background (but I will re-make it, because I think it doesn't go well with other details of the game, too detailed, gradient will look better if painted pixel by pixel) - basic Little Prince sprite and walking animation (though he may not be walking in the final version) - Sun sprite(static) - planet sprite - star sprite - rocket(bomb) sprite - 4 bubble indicators (will show the stages of conflict between planets) Print screen of the layout (not final) with all the elements for now: http://imgur.com/6j3oAgk
Getting back to work.
I've truly had an amazing time so far in my first Ludum Dare. Unfortunately there's been a few distractions, so I haven't got very much done.
My game is about a violent radioactive goat who has to escape an underground research facility. (LD started 3 AM my time, so my tired brain came up with the weirdest shit ever). It might not look like it fits the theme as of yet, but it will in the end!
So far I've got movement, jumping, goat animated and modeled, some random props and radioactive pickups. Here's a screenshot, but keep in mind I'm not at all an artist ^^ http://imgur.com/a/Lfw4u
Now I'm calling it for the day! See you all tomorrow. Looking forward to playing all the amazing games being developed this weekend.
Take care - Pixels
Have some nice tight designs down, now it's a matter of remembering my Data Structures to get the backend representation even cleaner.
Hoping to finish the full gameplay loop tonight and then dedicate the rest of the time to art.

I've been programming all day! Here's a sneak peek of level one. The objective is to steal the document and leave the building before the guards catch you. The rooms get smaller and smaller as you progress through the levels, making it harder for you to evade the guards (a literal take on the "Small World" theme). If the guards find you and press the alarm, it's game over.

Ok, ok. It's just a cube right now, but world generation, and gameplay are coming along very well!

After about 15 hours hard working, I think I can call it a day. Since this is my first jam, there was a ton of problems and accidents that had to be dealt with. The most annoying one is my VS2015 Community cannot debug Unity Editor anymore, after installing the latest version 5.6.0f3.
Anyway, I'm kinda satisfied with my progress today:
HumanThoughts for adapting various situations. Good for me.:stuckouttonguewinkingeye:Tomorrow - Art design and paiting - Level design and details - Test and submit
It's 4:40am in China. I've drunk countless cups of green tea for staying conscious. Have to hit the bed.

Trees can now be "cut" down, in a way... I didn't want to make it like a simple "cut down the tree", so I made it unique and derpy at the same time! The way that you can cut down trees is the same for any other future destroyable object of the game, so the assets are already done! As for the way itself... Lets's just say it involves one or two :bomb:
Got the input, camera and inventory system down. Still got a few things to do later. I got too distracted while I was coding lool. @Soulty already finished rigging the character and animations. She's already working on the art for the environment things. Might be it for us today! Hope everyone's having fun because we sure are!

I completely underestimated how fast I can make a game and I'm already done. Well that's great isn't it?
Now I just gotta find out how to post it if I even can post early...

Things are looking good at least. Gotta work a little more on the mechanics tho...
Creating a small hand-drawn puzzle game based on the theme 'A Small World.' Completed the first of three puzzles and the core gameplay, in addition to the graphics and music.
20 hours in and we finally have something to show, looking forward to progressing further

After spending the entire day trying to make a proceduraly generated circuit board, I've decided to call it a day and create a level editor instead. It's not what I wanted to do but I wasn't getting very far.

With a poop as the main character, what could go wrong?
Almost until the end of the day we didn't have something to show: a lot of theory and code but only a few models. In our devlog we'll post animations and models as we finish each one. Now, Dr. Zorongo is ready to travel through the sewers with its plunger. We will post the rest of the texts in Gamejolt too. Super tired but lots of fun! http://gamejolt.com/games/drzorongo/251424
