It's getting better!
Omg, so many work to do yet, but we wont give up!
This is what the game look right now: AWESOME GIF
Let's do it guys, don't give up now!!

Any Thoughts?

So the engine is complete, I have the all the moves, collectables and general guff like enemies and pause screens all finished. All there is now to do is to make the worlds. As you can see I've started with the hub world already. Going to get this finished and then have a wee nap! Not bad progress for the end of day one, but so much is still needed to be done!
Hope everyone is having a lovely game jam so far! :D
As we near the end of the first day, we've made a lot of progress in making our project. We had some issues with internet connections and all our computers decided to update at the same time.
We are building a VR game using the Vive and Unity.
We've decided to name our project Asteroid B 385 in honor of The Little Prince, and the number of both Ludum Dare and the VR Hackathon we are participating. Soon we'll add textures to our little world

Well I guess I'm in?
Time to recap on the results of a day full of work.
Mistakes I decided to do this time around:
Working on art before gameplay, as a programmer. I got the feel of the game down, but no prototype gameplay. Realizing that made me almost quit a few hours ago. (Screenshots, though!)
Making a multiplayer puzzle game for Ludum Dare. I'm expecting to get the heck trolled out of it. Be nice, guys.
That being said, I am doing good progress! Time to sleep for now. Good night and good luck to all of you guys.

I am of the in.

There we are minding our own business on a small world we've crash landed on then this bugger called Freddy comes screeching out of the darkness and gets right up in our graw. D:
So yea howdy folks, Juri of Silent Sloth here. We've had a busy 24 hours. As @nathan mentioned in the last post some time ago we had ideas and progress was made.
Unfortunately we are an artist down on what was planned now but I've taken up the role of creating.... things to look at. I'm happier with code but c'est la vie. Disclaimer - I am NOT an artist so if our game looks poop I take no responsibility :D
@nathan has been busily putting together test bits. We now have a flashlight and it does stuff!
@dregs .... was doing ...stuff? For most of the day? Then around midnight he checked a load of stuff in and we were like phew hes doing something :D we're still not entirely clear on what the something is but it looks useful!
Over all, having a great time :D except for my cough. That sucks.
Keep going everyone, its all good fun! :D
Late start with @paste0x78 but it seems to be coming together! #internetofthings

The game Tirld(A fusion of the words "tiny" and "world") is written in C++ with the SFML library. It is about a (for now) green person on a tiny platform made out of tiles.
Development began by adding simple gravity and collision.
Step two was to get some textures into the game! So I wrote a function to load in tiles from a big .png file.
Step three were some core gameplay elements: Tile breaking and placing. This took longer than expected and gave me some problems.
The last thing I did was just fixing some bugs.
Now, to show you how it looks right now, I present you this gif:

Have fun everyone!

Hi everyone! Me and my mate are making a tower defense with base building strategy type thing.
So I drew this conveniently shaped asteroid which you have to defend in our as-yet-untitled game. Also some buildings and spaceship sprites. Woo progress!

I spent the first 24h designing my game, tentatively called 38th Century. It will be a minimalist world simulation where you guide a humanoid civilization over centuries and millenniums, trying to help them survive for as long as possible.
Unlike my two previous Ludum Dare attempts, I took the time to design a full game before starting to code. Let's see where this goes!
Regular updates on Twitter alxmdev

Good evening, devs!
I spent a lot of time creating all the models and textures, and today I started to Code. The good news is: All the 3d models that I need are done. And I made a lot of progress in the Cutscene and NavMesh code. Basically, It's time to start making the cutscenes animations and write the dialogues.
I think the point that I wanna focus on this game is the Storytelling, because I've spent years developing games without any kind of story. I'll do my best to deliver some story! VERY simple because of the time, but I think this is a good start.
My expectations for tomorrow is Finish the game, and let the bug fixing and testing for monday.

Wow what an experience so far. It's really amazing what you can get done sometimes if you have enough pressure from a deadline to not get caught up on the nitty gritty of things like... optimization or really worrying if you have a professional looking product. Thus far we have a pretty solid puzzle game that takes place entirely on a chalkboard! Essentially the idea is that the game is what a bored student is daydreaming during what we can only assume is a pretty hellishly boring study hall or something.

Here's a look at level 5 (of a planned 20). I got most of the mechanics and art done today, so other than a little cleanup now it's just about cranking out some quality levels. The levels are currently planned out in fives, with the first four teaching you the basics of different mechanics and the fifth being an all or nothing challenge of those mechanics. So the first set of levels just teaches you about basic box pushing, using switches to open doors, and the simple fire hazards. And thus: a maze that combines all of that!
Honestly, while it's not going to be the best game by far (I'm pretty sure if I stumbled upon this game outside of a competition like this I probably wouldn't give it too much time) and I have a feeling I'll get some downvotes for ragequits... the box mechanics are still a little unforgiving... I am really genuinely proud of myself and can see why LD can be such an empowering first experience for people. Like, I've taken programming classes since high school and have been studying game dev pretty much since then too, but outside of the last few months of preparing for this jam I haven't ever done anything so nearly... complete before. It's really quite a trip, honestly.
Anywho, thanks to everyone who makes this jam possible and especially thanks to my musician who got me a killer track (you'll just have to wait and listen everyone ;D) yesterday despite having a hectic weekend himself. If you wanna check us out just head over to our official site http://www.animerrill.com and you can find some social links and the condensed version of what I've been posting to twitter periodically the last 24 hours. Good luck everyone, and I honestly cannot wait to see all your games!!

Right off the bat I knew I wanted to try a spherical gravity based platformer with this theme, and this being my first Ludum Dare I wasn't been too hopeful I would get there; but I picked something and I was going to stick with it!

After 6 hours I finally got it working.

and then I proceeded to break it again....

After a long day, a lot of work, and maybe a little bit of hair pulling, I managed to get this put together; it still has a really long way to go but the basic gameplay is there and I am excited to see if I can finish my plans in the time I have left. I think I've found my new favorite event!

I've finished my game, now I'll polish and maybe improve graphics. The game is very challenging for what it looks like and I'm pretty proud on that!
The goal of the game is to achieve the biggest amount of score (yes as simple as that).
In order to gain points you will need to build things like Mines, Wind turbines, Factories, Markets and Banks.
To build something on a tile you need to meet all the building's requirement.
Building a house is a simple as having an adjacent farm.
But a bank will need a market, a worker (house), a mine (gold) and a wind turbine to be adjacent.
Banks will give 5 of score, house and farms -1, etc...
There's also terrain tiles that influence score.
Grass has no effect, water tiles can't be built on, forest tiles (the darker ones) multiply's the tile score by 2 and sand tiles multiply the tile's score by 0. So building something wealthy on certain tiles can be an advantage.
