LD 38 April 21–24, 2017

I'm in and I'm ready to go.

But it's 2:30 am and I really need to sleep!

My current idea is a survival game set on a small planetoid with planet wide resource management so you don't deplete the natural resources. I have a feeling I'm mostly going to focus on procedural generation and not so much on gameplay for the first day.

Tools:

  • Unity3D
  • Blender
  • Gimp and Photoshop Elements 11
  • Audacity
  • sfxr probably
  • Might give streaming a try so OBS too?

Starting off!

This is my first game jam, so here's my first post! Glad to get to participate in this hectic weekend, and I hope to have more to say soon. (I was never really good at blogging.)

EDIT: apparently I should say some stuff about what I'm doing. Working with two others, funking it up with art and music respectively. I'll work on the core game, using the Godot Engine. Also probably Photoshop or something for any art touch ups. I have no idea if I'll finish, got few ideas to start with, but if nothing else I'd like to give you all something enjoyable to look at. I mean, nothing to win except you attention n_n

I'm in!

Don't have very much time this year...also trying Unity for the first time...but I'm giving it a go anyway! Let's do this!

I'm in

Hi everyone, my first participate. I will Participating with Unity. Good luck for all

Progress Report #1

So I've already come up with an idea for a game that I'm working on currently. It's called 'The Collector' and its a mix of Achievement Unlocked and Yooka-Laylee. You start off with a Small World and make it bigger by unlocking achievements. You can take branching paths to different islands and the such. I hope I can make this work.

Code: Java (Intellij Idea) Graphics: GIMP Audio: Either GarageBand or my actual piano

Have fun everyone! :)

Let's try again

Ready for another Ludum Dare !! Fourth time I try (first was LD28). Possibly I will from Construct 2D + Photoshop + Spriter. But maybe we will try something on Unity 5

And off we go...

Hi everyone, first LD ever, let's see how it goes.

Love the theme and scribbling some ideas at the moment, but have no real plan yet.

Happy game making everyone and thanks to Mike and the team to make this happen!

I'm in!

This is my 5th LD. Hope I've improved since last one.

BEEP BOOP BEEEEEE

I'm in and ready to rrrummmmmmmmmmmmbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbblllllllllllllllleeeeeeeee. Of course in team. I'm not the best with coding ._.

It's a Smol World After All

So the theme is A Small World. Interesting! I'm not sure what I want to do with that theme. I had a thought about using a smol pupper as the protagonist but I don't think I can art that. XD

I want to make some kind of platformer so a thought I had was to make it set in small world, either by making everything teeny or by having a big level that consists of many small biomes or making many small levels set in different world locales.

The other thing is what do I want the player to do? Collect collectables? Beat up enemies? Both?

Do I want to make a game based on The Little Prince where you go around your tiny planet picking up Baobabs and cleaning your volcanos?

I'll give it some more thought.

isolated safe island vs A Big Cruel World

I am imagening an isolated place maybe a room or possibly an island but character is afraid of the world outside so it feels good for character to live in a small world. I don't know what would make player to stay in but probably some good dialogs and world interactions. More of a art project than a game I guess

Twitch Stream

I understand that no one will watch and I have resolved myself to that fact. Despite that I felt that in the spirit of a fair and friendly competition I would stream so as to prevent any suspicion of cheating. Here is mine'st've link: https://www.twitch.tv/gnarlynarwhal7
