Final update for this night

We've slowed our pace, but now have some of our tiles done.

Here's an example of our overworld: v1.png

We've pretty much finalized our idea, and now we are working on adding in mechanics to make it more interesting

Day 0 progress

It is 5 am and I really should go sleep.

After a bit of brainstorming, I came up with an idea and got some base code ready.

The core idea is that there are several high-score based minigames with high-score tables. When you hit the high-score table, you can decide to either submit it or sacrifice your score in order to gain "sacrifice points". Amount of sacrifice points gained is determined by how many scores are already in the table, your potential position etc. These sacrifice points are collected by all players collectivelly. Once enough sacrifice points are collected, another minigame opens.

To benchmark how many mini-games I can make, I timed how long it takes me to make Flappy Bird. I got it working and reasonably challenging in about 30 minutes, but could easily have been much faster if I hadn't made some stupid mistakes. Anyway, it looks like I could manage to make about 10 such minigames. Or more? Multiple difficulties will be unlockable too.

Here's my flappy bird after 30 minutes: ld43gif1.gif

Setting up my project

At time, I have only configured my project to start making a game. :tools: Now I'm going to sleep (10:36pm but very tired) and I start again in the morning. :sunrise:

Progress

I decided to make a 3D project, i using ProBuilder (Unity Package) for first time  I have a game idea, not much exciting but i hope it will be entertaining (if i can finish ).

Storming the Brain

This theme gave me a good bit of trouble, as themes do. I like to find concepts that are abnormal or take some odd interpretation of the theme; this time I couldn't find a good one. So, for lack of a better concept, I'm going with one of my less unique concepts.

While this is a bit disappointing, I think I can still make something interesting, so hopefully the chosen concept turns out to be fun.

Now that the concept is chosen and the basic requirements have been outlined, I'm off to bed. Tomorrow starts the work of actually building something.

I hope everyone else has gotten a good start to their games.

If someone want to talk a bit

I am developing my game myself and it is 5:48 in germany so none of my friends is still awake. So i am thought if someone wants to talk a bit just add me on discord (Potatütata#9568)

Day 1 - Start of Idea + Beginning of Engine

I got some stuff done today. I decided to build a game about a hoarder who needs to clean his house by making "sacrifices" by getting rid of things that are sentimental to him. I'm thinking of adding some challenges, like limited time, resources, energy, and more. He also has tools that he can use to help him clean up easier.

Today I got a basic scrolling and collision engine in place as well as most of the classes for the structures in place as well.

Tomorrow I hope to get working on some graphics as well as game mechanics for clearing out junk.

Hamlin's Quarrel!

How about fighting your musical opponents to get as many animals in the forest to follow you... to a sacrifice altar? Hamlin's Quarrel is a local party-game where you race towards unleashing your demoniac forces before your foes!

Arms!

now it only takes the arms to start animating

Progress

Sprite sheet is done, robot animations are done, battery upgrading done, controls done.

Its also 3 A.M. I'm going to bed.
