Day one - Ideation

Okay, we had our ideation too long, but now we are on track. However our game idea is pretty hard to make because the setting is hardest part of it.

Let's hope tomorrow we'll speed up a little bit.

Here we go character controllers!

Trying new things

ld43_1.PNG

I've never done pixel art before, but I bet I can make it look decent.

Also, this is like all I have. Haven't really had very much time so far...

People are Money

In this game you are a city builder but you must sacrifice population for buildings. You must then place people into those buildings and force them to slave away producing more people. You want to sacrifice as many people as possible. Movies & TV 12em1/em2018 5em34/em10 PM.png So far I have gameplay and am almost done with art. Also I know this kinda late but I am using Fusion 2.5 ( not because I am bad at coding but because I am not familiar with any other ui) is that engine not allowed because I know it is much easier and quicker to make games in this $100 - $1000 dollar software.

Progress... thought small is still progress ;)

Had an idea minutes after the theme came out, however, I am using a game engine I am new to and am spending most of my time learning how to use it! I hope I can get something playable out before the game Jam ends!

Best team mate

Progress going well. All I can say is that I am the best team mate ever!Yeet.PNG

The fleet assembles!

Started quite late today but I feel like the aesthetic has come together amazingly well. Looking forward to adding all the gameplay ideas tomorrow.

Game progressing well!

I'm working on a fire fighting game I'm calling Wild Fire. When it comes to placing your units to fight the fire, sacrifices must be made.

I'm also streaming my development! Stop in and say HI! I'm so ronery.

It's going pretty well...

I've tackled the bulk of the tricky coding for my simple game, a couple more elements to add and it will be a playable prototype!

End of day 1 - Reached MVP

1:53am CEST, almost rounded the clock twice !

The game reached a minimal viable product state, which means that a submission is secured whatever happens tomorrow.

It features a complete game loop that can be completed with some lore explained.

Tomorrow will be about polishing and improvements to make it a more enjoyable experience.

Progress Update #2

The wonderful thing about needing to rely on your own skills is that it gives you an excuse to try something you otherwise wouldn't. In this case, I used Blender to create a very quick-and-dirty scene of some sort of temple, in which our protagonist can pierce the veil of our mortal plane...

The fact that they choose to do this with the use of drugs is, I'm sure, purely out of necessity.

A little distortion, tinting and blurring through a shader complements the effect.

Without being able to use my usual sound libraries, I had to make my own, so for this scene, I recorded a few layers of me droning into a microphone to create the appropriate ambience (think "Snoke" from the Force Awakens soundtrack), and layered myself taking deep breaths in and out to accompany the use of the aforementioned substances - the act of which actually left me feeling lightheaded for a few minutes. So if nothing else, I was in the right mindspace, at least.
