Day 1

And it flies and demands sacrifice!

TODO: - Sleep?! - Improve UI stuff - Music - Mute-options - Fonts - Better Particle Effects - Add a name generator for everyone you kill

New day more work!

Yesterday I finished the mechanics of my game, they are heavily inspired by FTL (though dont feature nearly as many mechanics due to lack of time and personal inexperience), here is a little Gif with my beautiful artwork for now, doesnt look pretty but it works! The idea for the game is sort of a reverse FTL, instead of getting more parts and upgrades, here through story, choices and combat you have to sacrifice parts becoming weaker and weaker as you go. The enemies however luckily don't get any stronger as you progress! (at least not in this version)

So now that that is done, todays work will be implementing story, art(something im terrible at but il do my best) and the music so that i have time on monday for polish. So far im well on track to complete my first Ludum Dare

Edit: No clue how to embed this gif, oh well. wont worry too much about that

Finish line!

My C64 game is almost done. It's fully playable (and fun - at least for me) and as far as I know there are no bugs (they are features of course). Tomorrow I'll clean up the code and hopefully add some sound effects, eg. footsteps. Haven't used the SID for a long time.

I'll also improve the release. Last time a lot of people couldn't play it, because they didn't know how to start WinVICE. Won't happen this time. ;)

Off to bed for now. I need to sleep.

Dev Jam Project

GIFemIA/emD.gifA.I destroy test.

I'm a bad programmer

I spent my first 24 hours dealing with the bugs, I may try Unity instead of cocos next time. OKAY, NO question anymore. Next time maybe I'll partake with a team.

Map Generation

Its so nice when the art asset arrive to fill the placeholder.

This is our map generator for the environment

24 Hours in

So, it's officially 1 day after the theme reveal (okay technically 8 minutes from when I'm writing this). As of right now, I've brainstormed some ideas, downloaded a few fonts, and opened GM:S to start a project.

I see that everyone else seems to mostly be taking a very literal "Sacrifice something to the dark lord / gods" with the theme. If I can find the motivation I need to get started working, I have an idea that's a bit different but I think nicely fits the theme.

Good luck everyone! :)

End of Day 1!

Day1.png Yes, I've succeeded in creating the base mechanics of an RTS in the first day! I have done SO MUCH code, art and polish today that 'm kinda amazed by what I've done :v:

Nearing the End of Day One

Animations are drawn, movement and item detection are in the works, and item and environment objects are coming together. Pretty productive first day!

End of Day 1

I've officialy been awoke for 24 hours

  • 17 Hours of work
  • 7 Hours of freetime (Eating, Making a Cup of Tea, Bathroom, Chatting)

Time to get my 3 hours of sleep before starting Day 2

Save some astronauts

Jeez, this game is going to be way darker than I initially thought... poor little astronauts!

A good lookin Forest and Extensive platformer mechanics

ld43_forest1.gif So this has been my work so far. This is my first serious attemp to a platformer and levels with tiles and stuff. I use godot and didn't manage to use kinematic body for a platformer before. So i was like, hey let's give the 2D platformer demo a try. Then I decided to build the game on top of it's character code :D The demo already had movement and jumping tho I added dash, wallslide and wall jump to it. I'm not an artist and drawing sprites was the hardest or me, it took a lot of time to draw the tileset and at least three hours to draw the character's sprite even though I used the sprite from demo as a reference :D (drove on top of it). As for everything else visually going on they were easier. My influence for overusing particles (and parallax) layer in background and forground is Hollow Knight. I took the idea of sun coming from between leaves projecting to the world from Attack on Titan. And leaves are by krita brush presets.Krita brush presets are cool. Now only thing left in my game is additiona mechanics and levels and stuff?

Almost the end of day one

Screen Shot 2018-12-01 at 9.03.13 PM.png

Almost nearing the end of day one and so far I can say that I've gotten at least 30% of the mechanics done.

My main idea for this game is that you have a limited amount of points to put towards skills like jumping attacking and running. So you are sacrificing certain actions for others. And you need to get to the end of several levels to win the game. I don't actually know if I can do this so, I'm hoping for the best.

Dialogue and passage of time

itstarts7.gif

So now NPCs will have different dialogues depending on what day is advanced. (It's a bit hacky on how it works, but I rather know how it works than spend time making it super automated). I took longer than I should have though, need to get to writing the actual dialogue and characters.

Some Art

2018-12-01.jpg

I had the most pleasent day, drawing cute animals for the sacrifice :)

Sacrifices must be made

We just finished our first playable and are about halfway through the development of our game (a card game in certain ways). We just figured out that the contents created were way too big for the size of the assets.

Time to ~~throw it all out~~ make some sacrifices and rewrite everything using approximately 25% of the characters. Best of luck for everyone that is making some sacrifices.

End Day 1 !

First steps... Hope it end well :p Now go to bed...
