LD 42 August 10–13, 2018

The Light at the Horizon

I only started to learn Godot a couple of weeks ago since I decided to partake in this Game Jam. I know the basics now and hopefully, I can survive this venture into the unknown. I am going to challenge myself and do the compo (If I fail, I'll enter it into the jam). May the best prevail and good luck everyone.

MAY THE THEME BE WITH YOU!!

My Inventory consists of: - Godot Engine 3 - Making the actual game and code (GDScript) - Krita - for Pixelart and editing - Bosca Ceoil - Music!! - Audacity - Audio!! - OBS 21.1.2 - Documenting my first game jam so I can look back in a few here and hopefully laugh at it! - Oh, let's not forget Rainmeter (Has the timer and stuff) - Orange Tango - Feel the tang! (NOT SPONSORED)

7th time in a row!

Lets see how this goes

First ever Ludum dare. Want a big push into grinding to improve my game development so here i am. Wish me luck

Hello? Is this the internet?`(Iam In)

Hello? Hi there? I’m new here, @Gagapete brought me into this. We've teamed up to create the ultimate power in the universe... well, and to create games for LD42 of course. Since he's the guy with the coding and I’m.. the other guy we'll surely find out if our plans will succeed.

Like my team mate mentioned in his post, we'll probably use the following for the jam (with a little tweak, since I'm not a an arch user).

Engine: Godot
Code: VIM
VCS: GIT with GitLab
Communication: IRC
Audio: LMMS and Audacity
OS: Ubuntu 16.04 / 18.04

So... onward, to GLORY!

First Time

Excited to get started! This is mine and my partner @jayjayec's first Ludum Dare.

Our first game will be made using python. This means we'll be using the pygame library! Graphics we create will be done using Paint.Net and music will be created using FL Studio!

Can't wait to see everyone's creations!

Obligatory "I'm In!" post.

Well, here we go! It's been one year! This will be my 4th time doing this and I'm excited. Originally I was supposed to be working with a friend of mine, but sadly he is sick and won't be able to do it, so I guess I'm here all alone! I have a much better computer this time around, (aka. something that isn't an underpowered laptop :D ) so I will be able to reliably stream and hopefully have a better Unity experience. Speaking of that, I will be using a slightly changed toolset from what I'm normally used to. And that includes but is not limited to:

Engine: Unity (C#) Music: Garageband Art: Photoshop / Illustrator IDE: Visual Studio 2018

Last time around I didn't release anything, regrettably, but we should be able to do something decent this time! Not sure weather I'll be doing the Jam or the Compo, depends on how things go toward the end of Day 2.

Good luck to everyone involved, and happy jamming!

P.S,

I'll be streaming all weekend on twitch.tv/xeinix2020 if you have any interest!

Obligatory Im in post

Kek not obligatory at all I'm actually super hyped. This will be my 6th LD but only my 4th submission assuming I actually "finish". Tbh I still dont know what I'm making my game in yet. It depends on what I decide on as my game. Anywho good luck to all of you fine fellows and chapesses. I'm sure some wonderful stuff will be made and can't wait to see what it is.

I'mma do a thing.

Twine Tone.js A lack of artistic ability That's it

last time I screwed up and failed to complete the game.

I will try to finish the game this time

I'm In (My first Ludum Dare!)

this if my first Ludum Dare, and i'm really exited! Hope to get some reviews on my game, and I've only been making games for a month. I'll be using: - Unity Engine - Auxy Studio (music and sounds) - C# (Coding) i won't be focusing on art (mostly because i don't have the tools) so i will focus on the programming and gameplay.

Obligatory I'm In Post

:loudspeaker: I'm in! Thoroughly unprepared, but in.

Sand Gardeners are here once again!

🚨 Hello jammers, we hope everyone is as excited as we are! Don't forget it's starting earlier than ever!

splashscreen.png

This 42nd Ludum Dare will be the first year anniversary of our first failed game jam together, where we learned quite some things, like, don't do that maybe:

loool.png

Things learned:

  • Use Trello, or some stuff that is not just a big spreadsheet ✍️
  • Don't try making 32 different assets,* especially if it's only for aesthetic purposes* 🤕
  • Don't plan 20 "small features", they ain't small, at all, plan better ffs!
  • Focus on getting the fun part first and foremost! If you don't have time for both fun and polish, scale down! 🤩
So even if you are super hyped and excited by your project, it's good to step down a bit and make sure you can finish without exhausting or forcing yourself, we're here to have some fun before anything else! As always we'll work in a team of two, accross the English Channel (or "La Manche"), and these are our most loved and useful tools:
  • Sleeping at night
  • Drinking a lot of water (coffee and tea don't count even if they're full of water, that's not how it works look it up)
  • Eating healthy
  • Taking some fresh air

💖 We cannot wait to see what everyone will come up with, and we'll post frequent updates about what we do etc. 💖

Anybody wants to join our group?

discord server: https://discord.gg/GnZ4ZN The best would be someone that could do modeling but come up and we will talk even if you cant.

I'm in again and excited

This will be my 3rd ludum dare and I am already feeling the pre-jam nerves. I'll probably be using unity again (although I am feeling super rusty as I haven't used it in a month or two). We'll see I suppose.

Good luck everyone!

Obligatory "I'm in!" Post

I've known I was going to be doing this Ludum Dare since the last one, but never got around to making a post about it (probably 'cause I'm lazy). It just wouldn't feel right if I didn't make at least one post before the jam begins! So here it is: I'm in! Like last time, the tools I plan to use are:

  • Programming/Game Design - Unity/Visual Studio
  • Art - GIMP/Paint (ended up only needing paint last time, surprisingly)
  • Music/Sound Effects - Audacity/FL Studio

This is only my second time participating, but if it's even half as fun as the first time then it's going to be a blast! Goodluck everyone!
