LD 44 April 26–29, 2019

I'm in!

Hey everyone, this is my first game jam and I am very excited!

45 Hour Compo

Bad news.

This compo is only going to be 45 hours for everyone who goes to End Game.

I'm in, once again!

I'm finally able to take part again in LDJam. This time, i'll be with @gnevcp to help me with the music!

Tools i'll be using: - Godot - Gimp/Krita - Blender (Possibly, not sure if 3D will be feasible.

Good luck everyone, and have fun! :v:

We are in!

We are going to use Unity and hopefully finish our game this time.

Good luck everyone!

Nice!

Avengers completed, now let's make this jam 48 hours (if I lose, I'll release some spoilers xD)

I am (a solid 70%) in

probably... assuming I finish my other projects that are due on Monday...

I at least voted at every stage and did the full 3K something elimination.

This Father, Son and Daughter team is IN!

My kids have seen me do LD, so when I asked them if they wanted to team up and do it this year they were like "YES!". Super exited to see what creative stuff they come up with!

This idiot is IN!

Vanilla JS and Web APIs are about to be turned into something that I will totally call a game

I'm in!

I'm in! This is my 16th LDjam

This is what I made last LD.

Have fun everyone!!!!

First time LD 44

Although I always wanted to participate, this is my first time in a Ludum Dare, just needed a little push and now we are a full-hyped great team. I have this scared-excited mixed-up feeling which I hope will help me to work faster. GL HF!

Yay, we're in!

Finally I have time again for a game jam, and this time with a team! So excited! And we even got together to brainstorm the themes so we are ready for any of it. Only 4 hours remaining until we find out which one it is... let's hope it will be one of the fun ones! :)

Welp, I'm losing a lot of time, let's do it anyway!

Well, I've been wanting to do this for years, so might as well try again! I've got endgame tickets for right as the theme is announced, and a certification exam in the next city over for school, so I'm probably going to be down around 8 hours or more just there, and I have work on monday! As long as I keep my ambitions down, I think I can do this!

I'm gonna try doing this with Godot 3.1, Aseprite, Bosca Ceoil, and a dream!

Good luck everyone!

I'm in!

Second game jam (because I procrastinated many LD's).

Will probably be using unity, Marmoset Hexels or blender and maybe photoshop.

I see that many people use Godot engine, is it better than unity? I will definitely check it out!

I'm In

That's Right, This will be my 2nd game jam and this time i am working with a friend! I thought i should post before this website becomes unusable. Last time i made a buggy mess because i had to stop halfway, this time i hope to make something better!

Wee will be using: - Gamemaker Studio 2 - Aseprite - Bosca ceoil

Look out for our game!

Hello there.

This is my first time taking part and not sure if I will finish in time but I'm still going to try!

Anyways, is it a traditional thing or compulsory to mention what tools you are going to use and that your entering?

Hello there

This will be my first game jam and first Ludum dare, I will be using unity, I will choosing 2d or 3d appending on the theme

We are in

My brother and I are ready for our first Ludum Dare. Let´s go!

I'm in

Sounds lit.

Game jam

Vai ser muito massa!

I'm in !

Third participation ! Eheh !

I will use :

C# and the framework Monogame

BoscaCeoil for sounds

Inkscape and maybe Aseprite for animations if I need it

So !

Good luck everyone ! :D

I'm in #44!

It has been a few LDs since my last one. I'm so glad I stumbled onto the site to find one starting in a few hours. I'm in!

First game jam

This will be my first game. I'll be using GMS2, openCanvas, Photoshop, and probably some of the bfxr-type sites for creating sound effects. Not sure what to do about music yet, perhaps just using some creative commons music (if I can?) or trying to build something on-the-spot.

LD 44 HERE I COME

It'll be my first game jam ever, I'm so excited for this weekend. I hope everything goes alright. I'm working with a friend, we'll be using Unity 3D.

Fisrt Ludum Dare

My first ever participation, can't wait to finally show people what I can do. (Or can't ofcourse ;P). I'll be using the Unity engine and Photoshop.

Vem Logo

Ansioso para começa

Second Ludum Dare

After my first time participating I learned a lot of my blocks while creating games. Back again to beat those blocks and make a better game than before!

My First Online Game Jam

This is my first online game jam and, i have to do all the work. :(

I hope that i can finish a game when event ended.I am sure it will be really hard cause it's online. No body will go around and pressure me to finish. That is sad.

By the way i really like this jam themes.

I just can't wait to start.

I'm in!!!

very excited too

I'm in

I'm in. For real though. And I am person. For sure. Not a robot. Believe me. I'll be working with Twine. Because it's robot-frien-... I mean, person-friendly.

Weasel Coin is in!

Hey guys, will most likely participate using Corona as the engine, art/animation will be done in Photoshop and DragonBones, music/sfx will depend on the theme and game style, bfxr/bosca ceoil or some fancier stuff.

Good luck to everyone!

The smaaaaallest game I can think of

Spending my time prepping by coming up with possible game mechanics I can reasonable implement in 48 hours. In my past ~3 or 4 entries, I always go WAY TOO FAR out of scope and crash and burn on the finish line. Gonna change that this year! :raised_hands:

I'm in! >:)

Sup peeps! Today is my first ever game jam and I couldn't be more excited like I'm literally shaking right now.

I'm in-ish

Since the graphist of my usual team is the only one to be avilable for the whole jam and since I convinced her to use this occasion to learn further how to code, I'll just help her with the music and the ideas but will only be active for 8 hours before only being able to be a moral support

I'm in!

I am hoping for either Risky Powerups, Color changes everything, or you are the only enemy.

Also I'll be using Unity, Aseprite, Audacity, and maybe Processing 3 and Gimp.

Here's the plan

The whole saturday, and perhaps part of sunday I will be offline. I hope to mock up one of the first ideas before I leave, and have the whole day to think of that and other ideas. By the time I go back online, I will have to have a very clear vision of what I will be making and how. With the lower frequency of Ludum Dares, and my current streak, I better not fail.

Good luck everyone!

We are in!

I'im in for the Ludum Dare 44 with my friend @jlelez Good luck everyone!

Ready to Rock

We have all the essentials, and we are ready to get this show on the road.

IMGem20190426/em174734115.jpg

Eh, Why not. First Jam.

Figure ill give it a go. On my own, I got a codebase and some extra time, I'm currently off work visiting family (In Canada) so 12 hours will be spent in transit. Here we go!

Looks like I'm gonna do my 3rd entry.

Third time is a charm. I hope it's a fun theme. I'll do a two day if my 15 year old is too busy doing Roblox to Jam with his old man.

I'm going to use the newest versions of Unity3d, Artimech, Blender, GIMP, Audacity, and Fragmotion. I might use Renoise for music creation if I have time.

Just because I love Prinny! etna.jpg

We are in !

Hello everyone ! We are ready !!! With @woody-builder we're waiting 3:00 am from France ! Good luck and Having fun !

I'm in

This will be my first game jam, I have wanted to do one of these for a while and now I have the opportunity so I'm hyped! I will be using Unity C# Any tips?

I'm in again!

This time, I have a plan to persuade my friend (a first timer darer hehe) to make some experimental weird stuff in Twine. Let the Limited memory theme win and gl!

Here I go again!

Maybe I already said this before, but this time I'll try to be more a game designer and less everything else. I want to at least try to design mechanics that are related or at least inspired by the theme. It doesn't matter if my characters are only squares or triangles, as long I make an honest effort to make my game have that something that makes a game a game.

i'm in

gonna do this ludum dare thing again. sad it changed to only twice a year instead of three times.

going to be using either javascript with p5.js or pico8 depending on what idea i end up going with. krita as my paint program bfxr for sounds probably going to use some free music online

good luck everyone! i'm rooting for the theme to be mutation.

I'm in for the first time!

And I want to create something awesome out of only one image! Can't wait to start! I'll be using Defold only (and Paint for this one image). Hope, I'll be able to end! May the best ideas be with you!

2nd Ludum Dare

I'm on my 2nd ludum dare and I'm working with 2 friends and using

Clickteam Fusion 2.5 Aseprite Audacity Not sure what for music

We are in !!!!!

We are in for the 4th time !

We are 3 with a lot of cafeine ans energy drink !!!

Unity and C# masterrace !

We will also use Aesprite/blender and FL Studio/Audacity.

Let's have fun ! giphy.gif

Last post before the jam starts

It's getting late here in the UK, so to make sure I'm properly rested for the jam I'm going to bed early. Guess I'll have to catch the theme in the morning.

I'm really excited to see what we can make in the next couple of days, and to seeing what awesome concepts people come up with.

Oh, and if you're planning on using unity, you should check out my game jam template.

3 Hours left!

I'll be using Unity, Photoshop/ Paint.net and Audacity. I usually create 2D platformers for ludum dare as I have a decent working 2D controller already working, and 2D platformers are neato :)

PS: Comment on this post and I will make sure to check your entries before anything else when the deadline hits! Good luck!

Hello Fellow game makers

this is my first game jam and i am excited to make a game in 2 days i'm used to having unlimited time to make my games so this will be challenging for me. Also i am using unity, gimp, Beepbox.co, ms paint (For if i need polygon shapes) and blender

I'm in!

Gearing up for Ludum Dare 44! This is probably my 10th LD or so, and I'm hoping to do better on a few things: * Properly scope. Avoid multi-screen concepts, like the "Running out of space" I did last year. * Achieve "playable" by noon Saturday. Core loop should be working, more or less! * Achieve "winnable" by noon Sunday. Game loop should be working. * Get sound and music in! I hate when I miss these.

Join us on Discord!

Hey guys, we will be participating in this ludum dare. Come join us and share your experience and end result with us here: https://discord.gg/YeXUpPj

Hello everyone!!!

First time actually entering the Jam but I've been following it for years now. Excited to try and make something in Unity and C# but I don't realistically expect to finish before the Jam ends. My biggest hope is to finish the game I start no matter where I am when the jam ends though. Good luck to everyone!

I'm in

2nd Ludum Dare. Main point I learned last year was to plan your game completely before beginning work.

I'm in!!

This will be my first game jam..I've been meaning to join a few different LudumDare jams over the years, but it never quite worked out.

Tools- Possibly Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 && MonoGame or Unity, GraphicsGale, Gimp, Blender3D..

Good Luck to All!!!

For Godot Users that Might Need a Dialogue System

Hello everyone! I hope you all are ready for Ludum Dare 44. I've been revving up my fryers all week and now I'm ready to cook. I will be using the newly released GB Studio to make my Jam entry, but if you happen to be using the Godot Engine I have a treat for you. J. Sena has made the very epic and awesome dialogue system that's called Godot Open Dialogue. If you need a dialogue system for your entry I definitely recommend using it. If you do you can also use my editor, Open Dialogue Editor, to help create your scripts for Godot Open Dialogue. My editor still isn't done, but it is more than ready to be used by the masses. If you do use either of these tools make sure to let the creators know what you think. Feedback is in the spirit of Ludum Dare right? Now go out and make some awesome games!

I'm in! It's also my first game jam ever so....

Hello! My name is Enrique and I’m the lead designer and programmer at … my own company! Anyway, this is my first game jam ever and I hope I can make something nice out of it.

I wouldn't be comfortable saying what I'll be using when I'm still not even sure what the theme is, but that being said:

I've been playing around for years with Unity, Blender, Substance Designer & Painter and Photogrammetry (which probably won't make it to this game jam but who knows right? might be worth it depending on the theme). I love proceduralism, and I spend a lot of time working on code that will help me build procedural games in the future. Some of this might (probably will) make it into my game.

1 ) - I also have spent a substantial amount of money on assets (during sales, but it still ranks up pretty quickly!) that will help me on the purpose of building my games, so I might use some of these too, to simplify and speed up my work (besides sometimes offering functionality I am clearly not even familiar enough with to code myself). Some of these would be:

Third Person Motion Controller and Camera Controller (by Ootii), Final IK and PuppetMaster (by Pärtel Lang (RootMotion)), Voxeland and MapMagic (by Denis Pahunov), Amplify Shader Editor (by Amplify Creations), Odin Inspector & Serializer (by DevDog), Audio Helm (by Matt Tytell), VertExmotion (by Kalagaan)

2 ) - I am also an avid UMA user, which is a free asset that helps in optimization and proceduralism of characters in Unity. Feel free to check it out, it is one of the best plugins ever - if the project requires it, this will also be utilized.

3 ) - Ultimately, I am looking forward to possibly exploring a few plugins I got on the last Unity Sale and that I haven't yet gotten to explore:

Behaviour Designer (by Opsive), Cinema Suite (by Cinema Suite Inc.), A few more Amplify Creation post processing assets (which I will compare to the current Processing Stack by Unity to determine whether they are worth it), Dungeon Architect (by Code Respawn)

I know these are a LOT of assets, but my purpose behind all of these investment (which has been going on for years) is to eventually be able to create big scope games on my own, all behind the idea of proceduralism, from workflow to gameplay.

Other details about me:

I am a generalist, although mostly a 3D Artist, as that is what I studied in college (although I always programmed more than anything else as I found that way more interesting even visually speaking), and have been wanting to design games since I played Ocarina of time back when I was 7 (I am currently 27).

If you would like to keep in touch with the development of my little "failure" (because let's face it, it's my first game jam and I'm the kind who tends to have ambitions that are way out of scope LOL), you should definitely like this post and if possible offer some feedback. I'd LOVE to know which assets of these YOU would like to see, I think it's extremely important for the Indie community to know that we should NOT rely on our code alone.

Also do please keep an eye on the instagram of my “one” man company EnPhage Games :

https://www.instagram.com/enphage/

My employer * WINK WINK ;)* has allowed me to take over the platform and finally bootstart it by documenting the process of this game jam! We do not have a twitter yet so please reach out to me through the gram, or through this post. I would really love more than anything for us to engage in a conversation about this topic we all love so much.

PD: You might just find the link the EnPhage’s website, don’t be too pressed to look into it as it is still under construction ;).

We're in - 8th Time's The Charm!

This'll be our 8th LD for me and @linear as developers/artists, The 5th one we'll have done with @thomas-kresge as musician, and 3rd one with @angiekatneko.

We'll be working with:

  • @aurel - Programming, UI Design, 3D Modeling
  • @linear - Programming, 3D Modeling, 3D Texturing
  • @angiekatneko - 2D Art and 3D Texturing
  • @thomaskresge - Music and Sound Effects + Foley

We're working with a lot of tech:

  • Unity 2019.1.0f2
  • Modo for our 3D Modeling
  • Maya for Animation
  • FMOD Studio for Audio and Integration
  • Photoshop for 2D art and Texturing
  • Screen2Gif for recording gifs
  • Chronolapse for Timelapses
  • OBS for any videos we might make
  • Discord for communication
  • Trello for tracking bugs
  • Visual Studio for programming

Within Unity we're starting with a base "data" scriptable objects package we've created as well as a geometry intersection tool we wrote called Poseidon that will hopefully help us make levels.

Hi, we're in!

My friend and I are signing up on for our first jam. I focus on music, writing and excessive coffee driking, while he specializes on visual art. We are gonna use Unity for this jam! It's close guys, let's have some fun!

I'm out.

My only idea isn't really great, and would be impossible to do in the time allotted.

Have fun everybody!

Almost Ready!!

First time doing Ludum Dare!

Setting up my environment and trying to give myself a timeline.

Definitely going Compo for this one.

Need to figure out how to make visual assets quicker this jam...

I guess I'm in

I wasn't sure if I was going to be in a team or not (still not 100% sure), but now it seems I'll be making a solo project. My wrist hasn't been the greatest (carpal tunnel), so I will try to take it easy during this jam. I'm most likely going to make a visual novel project with TyranoBuilder, depending on what the theme will be. Now to get some sleep, I'll check the theme in the morning.

I am in first time Compo

Hi everyone, this is my first time joining Ludum Dare. Actually my first time any jam.

I promise you I will finish my game on time!

I'm In

The last time I couldn't think of a game to go with the theme. If I have a good idea, then I'm in.

Are you in? ( That's what she said)

In again. Definitely making something small and fun humour being the main focus this time round. Unity Flash/Photoshop/Blender bfxr some free music site like pulseboy

Time to get ready!

Hope you all are ready for another ludum dare! I know I will, as soon as I get my eighth hours of beauty sleep of course. IMGem20190427/em012352_917.jpg

I'm in

Conflicting plans this weekend will drain a bit of my time away, but it's still worth trying to make a game, so I'm in.

  • I've decided to try hopping back into Phaser again, so we'll see how that goes.
  • I'm likely to use Blender or Krita for graphics.
  • LMMS is ready if I actually find time for music.
  • I'll probably be using some combination of Docker and code-server to edit and host my files (because who doesn't like nested VMs and server inception?).

I look forward to learning the theme and hope I can come up with an intriguing idea.

Good luck to all involved. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

First actual Ludum Dare!

Having done multiple game jams in the past I've never brought a ludum dare jam to completion. Hopefully the selected theme will let my creative juices flow! SUPER EXCITED!

I'm in

I'll be using:

  • Graphics Lib.: Pixi.js
  • Physics: Planck.js
  • Language: Typescript
  • Graphics Tool: Aseprite

Good luck everyone!

First time doing the Compo!

I'm in with GOLANG

I am WAY back on top of my game and SO READY to do this. Lets GO! And by GO I mean golang, because that's the new language I'm trying out for this LD (just using SDL2 bindings). I actually disagree with a lot of Go's design decisions, and wouldn't use it for a non-game project, but it actually seems like kind of a perfect fit for the way I like to make games. So I'm real excited!

I am in

Using Unity

I'm in!

I'm on Team Prolog, we're making Psyche game using the Large Knowledge Collider and SWI-Prolog!

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/$142629

Writers - we're a bunch of programmers doing a natural language game. If you want to join an IF oriented team, hit us up!

I'm in... maybe??? (homebrew + rpg + INSERT THEME)

Umm, hi!

For the first time in forever, I actually realized it was Ludum Dare weekend before it was already happening! I'm not sure yet if I'll be able to do this with my schedule, but giving this a shot! I kinda want to make a lightweight RPG if it meshes alright with the announced theme.

The other big thing, would be that I want to do it as a homebrew for an old game console, using tools that I've created for doing this. If I end up joining, I'm gonna try to use my high-level assembly language Wiz for the compo.

https://github.com/wiz-lang/wiz

Wiz supports a few different CPU instruction sets, and is capable of making homebrew games for NES, SNES, Game Boy, Sega Master System, Game Gear, and others. All of the code is MIT licensed.

In the interest of making more example projects available for Wiz, it'd be nice to make something during the contest! It's also just a fun challenge making new homebrew stuff!

For the most part, the compiler + whatever base code I plan to use would be in the Wiz repository and its example folders, but I have some pre-existing code for other VRAM upload systems on GB and NES that I haven't had a chance to put up yet.

This already might be too ambitious, but we'll see! ^^

I'm in!

Hello everyone, this is my first Ludum Dare game jam, and my 6th one overall (4th one in Montreal)! I am a 3D Artist and am excited to begin creating art very soon. This game jam feels like it's going to be the best one yet.

serveimage.jpg (voted for "Ridiculously Overpowered" as one of the themes)

We're in

@gaetan and I will be using Java with an engine I wrote for the last ludum dare I did.

Engine: https://github.com/willgarrett610/Ludum-Dare-Engine

First time with a team

It's my first time participating in the JAM category. I joined to this LD with my friend @jeison-pandini, which have the main role of Artist/Modeler. My last entries on LD were alone in 41 and 42 compo.

LD 41

photoem2019-04-26/em19-32-35.jpg

On LD 41, I made a really bad game called Motor Challenge, a mix of Racing game with a Visual Novel where you had the challenge of winning the race and controlling the car's condition.

The overall rating in LD 41 was 3.25 with 8 ratings.

This edition helped me a lot to understand the time pressure of the event, but the final game had a poor result with the mechanics and the balance.

LD 42

photoem2019-04-26/em19-32-26.jpg

In LD 42, I made the Memory Exception, a game based on my lessons about operating systems (I'm a teacher). In the game, you assume the role of a memory scheduler, which has the task of to change the software pieces between the Hard Disk and Memory RAM, running against time (or the patience of the computer user).

The overall rating in LD 42 was 3.563 with 26 ratings.

I do a better managing of the time to achieve a better final game result than LD 41. But I still struggled with game balancing and player experience. Many players had a lot of trouble to understand the game mechanics.

LD 43 (what I expect!)

I and @jeison-pandini made a game called 'Real Fighter Man' this year for the TV Series Jam, on itchi.io, but we could not finish on the time. The game was finished about three weeks after the deadline, but we did much more polished.

This time, I hope that we could manage my time even better (I have three work meets during the weekend) and do a good addictive game. My best bets are the following: Side effects, Change the genre of a classic video game (I really wanna make anything like a Zelda-style card game), Contagious and No upgrades, only downgrades.

Yes, I know that I will have trouble with any theme anyway... 😔

A REALLY FUN JAM, GUYS! JUST ENJOY THE THEME! 😄

We are ready for Ludum Dare 44!

Join our Ludum Dare Discord community!

toda.png

We have our git repo setup, and are ready to roll! We are going in with Unity 2019.1.02f as our game engine.

Some notable software being used this go around: - Unity Cloud for CI, User Reporting, and Bug Tracking. - GitHub & GitHub Desktop (I'll be using the CLI as well) for version control. - VSCode for writing code. - Paint.NET for "coders" art. - Discord for communication. - ZenHub for project management.

Set up and ready to go! So pumped! (Aaaaand I'm In!)

This is my 2nd LD and I'm aiming to hit the Compo submission time since I'm flying solo again. If I don't make it, I guess I'll submit to the jam instead.

I live in a tiny bungalow here in Austin, TX but I really like the little work space I've got set up. I might head out to the garage workshop and do some stuff out there this weekend, too.

LD44-Setup.png

Tools: - Unity 2019 / Visual Studio - Photoshop - Aseprite (if I go the pixel art route) and Pixel FX Designer for pixelated particle effects - Ableton Live for audio - Possibly Light2D for 2D sprite lighting if I can get it to work properly

Not sure if I'll go 2D or 3D yet. I made a 2D platformer for LD42 so I may try to go 3D this time to expand my repertoire. At any rate, good luck everybody and have fun!
