Ludum Dare 37 December 9–12, 2016

Back for another shot!

I managed to get the game done last time (barely). This time I’ve got back up in the form of my friend Tom.  Will this be better or worse? Who knows! Yay, LD.

Tools: Unity, Logic X, Audacity, SFXR, Photoshop and GraphicsGale.  Also, good looks. Yeah, can’t forget those.

Ready for LD

Drawing: PyxelEdit/Sketch (for pixel art or vector)

Not sure yet if I will use Unity or Phaser yet.

If I do phaser I will be using https://github.com/ehtd/ld33 as boilerplate reference

Either Visual Studio or WebStorm as IDE :)

No idea yet on the music tool, probably bfxr

Back for good

Hope I can do better this time, yeahh

Tools: Unity, bfxr, Bosca Ceoil

GL HF!

We’re in!

We are ready, hoping for a good theme!

Tools we’ll be using:

Programming language: C++
Engine: Unreal Engine 4
Art: 3DS Max, Photoshop, ZBrush
Audio: We will see

Good luck everyone!

I’m joinning too!

This time I’ll try to use Phaser instead of Unity.

I just finished a little boilerplate, here so I can start coding quickly when the compo begins :)

I’ll be using:

  • Phaser
  • Gimp
  • Probably Bfxr or something for the audio
  • Probably Tiled or something for the maps

I hope the theme will be inspiring :3 !

(I don’t know where and how to upload my game yet… Maybe I’ll try github page, any idea?)

I’m in? I don’t know. Maybe.

I think I’m in! Perhaps. I don’t know. I’m going to be in a position where I might not have interburgers through this whole thing. If that’s the case I might not actually be in.

All I know is that I’ll be using similar tools to always: libGDX and something art-y. So, yeah. Let’s see if I can actually get something playable this time!

momeG in!

So…

I’ll doing all.

What’s your pre-jam rituals?

My only current pre-jam rituals are posting Bob-Marley’s Jammin’ somewhere, and then being at my computer an hour before hand to Gush about my excitement. What’s yours?

App for Streaming LD Game Voting

Ludum Dare Streaming Bot
I made this app for myself to make it easier to stream myself playing others’ Ludum Dare Games during the voting phase. I had a few people ask if they could use it, so I rebuilt it into a more user-friendly version.

How does it work?

The app is fairly straightforward: Upon opening it, you’ll be asked to login to your Twitch account, so it can connect to your channel’s chat. It will then start reading chat. Anytime a viewer posts a link to a LD game, it will automatically add it to the queue on the right. You can drag and drop to move the entries around if you’d like. The player controls at the bottom allow you to cycle through the games. The “Play” button will automatically open the current game in your default web browser.

Download

You can download the app for PC, Mac, or Linux here. Please read the “Other things” section before using. Thank you for helping me improve the app!

Other things

  • The bottom “controls” section is not to be shown on stream. The app resolution is 3:2, but if you only include the top section, it should fit a 16:9 resolution perfectly.
  • The green boxes are to be keyed out. The most common streaming applications (OBS, XSplit) have chroma key options that will allow you to easily remove the green, and show the game/camera layer behind it.
  • The small green box in the lower right is for a webcam, but it can be hidden in the “settings” panel.
  • The app, by default, is set to only accept and open LD36 games. However, you can easily change this in the “settings” panel.
  • The app has only been tested on PC. Please let me know if you’re able to test it on Mac or Linux.

Feedback

If you try using the app, I would really appreciate your feedback. What features would you like to see added? Is the interface easy to use? What can I improve on?

Also, I did my best to fix all the bugs I could find, but you know how it is… if you find any bugs, please let me know.

Contact

You can contact me on this post, or by email (infernoarchon@gmail.com) with any questions, feedback, or bug reports. Thanks again for your help! I hope you find the app useful.

**Final Note:** Submissions will open tomorrow

Just one last note: You wont be able to submit until tomorrow. I had basically no-time to do any site work during the hours leading up to Ludum Dare 37, and it still needs a few hours of TLC. Soon though! Thank you for your patience!

I’m in

For my 3rd LD I’ll aim for a compo using :

Lots of coffee^^^^^^^^

question

can we use loop labs for music? https://www.looplabs.com/beta

i’m in

Finished my warmup and ready to compete!

Finally I finished it)) For a warmup I’ve chosen to recreate a simple fractal using js & html5(phaser):

fractal_wm

I’d like to make something proceduraly (for example levels etc). It seemed to be easy at start but after some time I realized that my math knowledge is not so good xD Anyway after searching for vector math basics I made it.
Btw tried streaming and was kind of nervous… :/

Speaking about fractals. IT’S SO COOL! Even with such a simple one, any small changes in parameters can make a huge amount of variations! I feel kind of excited xD

we’re in!

psyched for our third ludum dare in a row :0

using gamemaker studio and aseprite, excited to try out the html5 module and make a game playable on the web this time around!

I’m in

I’m in and I will be testing my own engine, using gimp for graphics, and audacity for audio.

I intend to join

And Other Alternative Ways of Saying “I’m In”!

Can’t wait to get started, now. New site looks amazing, and I’m looking forwards to seeing what it’ll be able to do.

As for what I’ll plan on working with, I’m planning on the same tools as I always use, i.e.:

  • Unity, game engine
  • Visual Studio, IDE
  • Paint.NET, 2D Graphics
  • Inkscape, 2D Vector Graphics
  • GIMP, Alternative to Paint.NET for anything it can’t do
  • Chiptone, SFX
  • Beepbox, Music

Hoping to fare better this time around, as I’ve been spending time learning since the last LD, and have learned a number of useful things that I think will benefit me greatly. Unity also recently made their line renderers not suck, and things not sucking is pretty undeniably fantastic. Lastly, I finally found a way to prevent tiny gaps between sprites, which is nothing short of a blessing.

Anyway, it’s time to get prepared. Good luck to everybody!
