Ludum Dare 37 December 9–12, 2016

I’m in

I’ll be using Unity3D, LMMS, Krita and maybe Blender

Good idea…

Hammering code out now… Evotron will look like batting practice compared to this!

Ready to start!

I can’t believe there is nobody who has posted anything like my idea.

Not that that’s bad 😛

Good Luck everybody!

1 hour in. Blue or Red?

So me and my friend are 1 hour into our game, and we have a few things. Got some early unity scene work and some concept art.

Watch our twitch streams, Holofire and 123gas321 to see the progress.

We are in !

We are four guys passionate about games and we are in this time! Hopefully we will come out with good game

Tools we will (probably) be using :

Unity C#

Gimp/Photoshop/Inkscape

Maya (If we go down the 3D path)

Bfxr/Bosca ceoil

That said, good luck everyone!

Well here we go again

We aren’t ready to reveal any details yet… but it’s called

One Room : One Cup

(don’t worry it isn’t what you think)

Currently streaming our creative “process” at https://www.twitch.tv/zerosauce !

I’m in! (For one day)

I’m in the middle of five weeks of working 60 hours and my only day off is Saturday. :( So I’ll be trying to make a game in a single day haha. Using GameMaker Studio 2.0, beepbox.co for music, and Bfxr for sound effects. I’m gonna try and do all of the art assets in GMS 2’s new image editor to really test it out. Should be fun!

Idea Down!

Now the fun begins!

Well

I always want to do platformers.

And then we always get these weird themes that aren’t amenable to platformers at all.

I mean, what’s the point of a platformer if it’s in a single room? How on earth could you do a platformer if your Entire Game is On One Screen? etc

The next theme is going to be “Anything But A Platformer” just to spite me.

Man, there is always a possibility! You can make platformer about tiny guy jumping around the table (think about micromachines). Just be creative and make that f**king platformer! :)

One room, not one screen. One giant, 400 screen sized, room.

Waiters: One Room

So, my thought was about things like… Blacksmith shops and all of those little games where your world is confined to a single room as a method of gameplay rather than the story itself. So I started to think about “Who’s jobs are actually confined to a single room?” And thought of… Waiters. Yep. Totally makes sense. Mhm.

So, I’m sort of torn now between two different ideas:

  1. A board game type thing with resource management themes.
  2. A time management type games with a little bit of rhythm game/minigame to it.

Seeing as I always try option 1 I’m going to go with option 2. Be back when I have more notes! 😀

Also! Moving during the attempt to do your LD makes for difficulties. More so when you don’t have either phone service or internet at your new place.

LD37: One ROOM – I’m in.

I’m pretty excited for this theme and ready to go.

If you still can’t, ask Mike to do the permission, someone else was having trouble with that

I’m in…. and making an escape room

I recently started an escape room business in my town, and so, naturally, I am going to try to create an escape room game for #LDJAM

Might just do it with images, HTML, some Javascript.

I create my images in Fireworks.

EDIT: I thought about creating an actual escape room here with our props, but not sure I could pull it off. Not much time this weekend.

Wave Based

Making a wave based game, with upgrading weapons, random enemies (working on random sprite gen from multiple components) and maybe scaling difficulty? not quite sure on that yet. Little progress pic here:

It’s been a year and 4 months…

The last time I joined Ludum Dare was August 2015. Work happened, so I couldn’t join them. Finally got the chance today.

I’m thinking of using:

Unity for engine & programming.
Either Photoshop if going for pixel art, or Illustrator if I’m going for vector. Illustrator sounds fun to try, but it might take too long.
sfxr for sound effects.
FamiTracker for music (or no music at all).

Software and Ideas

Okay so been playing around with a couple of ideas and well I have chosen to make my game in Game Maker Studio: Professional.

For my graphics I will be using a mixture of the image editor in Game Maker and Photoshop CS6.

I haven’t really gotten round to what i’m going to use for sounds.

So now that my software usages are out the way time for a sneak peak at my idea.

Okay so RPG games are my life and they are what I aim to make in the future. So for my idea I am going to make a small RPG game taking a little inspiration from Gauntlet.

The game is going to be called Goblin’s Bounty and is basically about going and killing goblins. Through progression through the game the player will then face off with the goblin king where its either game over or you win the game.

I’m not entirely sure how I want the winning scenario to play out just yet but I’m sure ill think of something.

So time to start hitting the programming and getting some game mechanics in place. Graphics will then be added and then i can start working on some epic sounds for it!

Hope everyone is having fun with their own projects and again, best of luck to everyone!

All in one room!

One hour and thirty minutes. Many ideas thrown away.. but I think I have something I can work with!

I’m going to make a Dungeon Keeper/Darkest Dungeon type of game where you must protect a single room from would be adventurers.

My original goal was to make a menu based game so I could practice my UI skills, and I think I can do that with this.

Using:

  • Unity 5.5
  • PyxelEdit
  • Gimp
  • Inkscape
  • Krita
  • Audacity
  • LMMS
  • ChipTone
