One Room to Rule them All…
I used that same joke a year ago when the theme was one screen.. still not that funny.
here’s what it looks like though.. I mean. like.. whoa.

This Room Will EAT YOU.

we got a room and some great ideas for the game to be made.
This might be a little difficult considering we don’t have time to do the entire 72 hours – we have more like 24 hours, so yea.

Making some progress. I decided to do a point and click adventure (I’ve never written one of those before). I sketched up one of the four walls of the room. Then I had to hack mouse support into my engine; luckily, that wasn’t as much work as it sounds like. I’m thinking it’s gonna be an “escape the room” type adventure, but maybe I’ll come up with an interesting twist to add.

Music to Code to: Third Day Christmas at Pandora
This is my first Ludum Dare!
I have started the design of my character, and I have come down to a 2D design that I am happy with. I’m working on dynamic lighting now. Wish me luck!

I am a 17 year old student in my last year of high school and finals are next week. I hope I don’t screw over my grades.
I’ve spent 4 hours making something and I’m not enjoying it, and realized it won’t work. And I’ve spent about 20 mintues attempting to think about other ideas, and I can’t think of any that I would want to do.
Not sure if I’m going to give up, but if I do hopefully I can get some ideas tomorrow and comeback and just do the Jam instead of the compo. Seriously annoyed that this theme was chosen out of all of the other great ones.
Good luck to everyone!

CONCEPT: A first-person platformer where the contents of the room do not change. Instead, you collect gems that, when touched, change physics:
Once a gem is collected, another one spawns elsewhere in the room… but suddenly every surface is bouncy, or you move really fast, or you jump really high and get stuck to the ceiling, etc.
I may or may not have achieved nothing except for making this gem spin
I decided to write a game where the player is in a cave. This is the “one room”. This idea would of also worked for other themes not chosen (underground, etc).
The first 2 hours were spent on design and moving some Unity objects around to get the coding working. I do suck at art, but attached is a rock-like room that you can consider a cave with stalactites. If I have some time later in the compo, I will revisit the art, but for now, this is the best I can do under the time constraints I set for myself. The stalactites are randomly placed when the game starts.
Next up is to create the player, mine shaft, and some power-ups. The idea of the game is to destroy the drips from the stalactites. If the drip hits the ground, it starts creating a stalagmite and makes it difficult for the player to move around. Power-ups come down the mine shaft and help the player destroy the stalagmites, or gives the player a special ability to cope with what’s going on. I think I will add some bats for added frustration!

This is my first take on Ludum Dare
I use Love2d game engine, Simple tiled Implementation Library, Tiled map maker and paint.net.
So far i got map working and player movement. Im working on getting collision working.
Also got the worst graphics

Here it is:

I’m using GameMaker Studio 2. There are things I really like about it and things that I still hope are improved.
Woke up a little late, but now have a manageable theme planned: Tank Crew Commander: A Lá FTL.
Well that’s all I have so far

The game will be about surviving in closed enviroment, “the Room”, by eating things
Me and my partners are going to apply to Jam, and we came with the Idea of making a multiplayer “objective defense” 2d sidescrolling game!
A little mockup of our level.

went from tower defense to a roguelike with a hamster as the main character. In the last 4 hours I managed to implement walking, collision and aspect ratio. My artist had his photoshop crash so he lost the main character’s sprite. He is mad. Trying to decide should I implement throwing a projectile, or get some sleep.
Thinking about the game with the guy trapped in the room trying to escape his own boredom. He can use computer, or radio to keep boredom bar lower. But to use them he’ll need to aquire some items or do some quests: like turn on the router to go to internet and watch let’s plays. I guess I need some random encounters to spice things up (thinking about zelda 2 style of encounters).

Can anyone see this post? If you can, please comment
Couldn’t think of any good ideas for ONE ROOM !
My initial ideas are something 2D and action packed, but we’ll see how it works into the theme.
As for tools, I’ll be using UE4 / Unity most likely, unless the wild hare comes up to learn some DirectX or something.
At the moment, a friend and I are debating doing a coop jam, but we’ll see!
Edit: Me and mungoman1 are joining forces to make an action packed 3D hack and slash arena to fit with the one room theme. Wish us luck!
