After an hour of failing in UE4 I decided to choose Unity. 😀

Progress

I’ll make a game where you have to place your furniture in one room. The different furnitures give more points when the color under them is the same as adjacent.

Let’s do it!

Ok, so this is my first Ludum Dare.
My idea so far:

The player, in a room has to pick up a ball that spawns in the centre and throw through the holes in each wall.

Ok… Whats the twist you say? Well. The walls are continuously moving towards the player until they throw the ball through any hole on said wall. Doing so will result in the wall being pushed back giving the player more time to continue. Behind one of the 4 walls (Chosen at random) there is a door to escape. The idea is that over time the walls will start increasing in speed, making for a true fast paced game of accuracy and keeping your nerve! – Photo’s to follow!

Tools:

Unity, Blender and Reason(Audio)

Late, but I’m in!

Hey Darers!

Since my timezone is different than the Ludum Dare one, Ludum Dare starts at 4:00 am in my timezone so I couldn’t stay awake till that time; I was really tired. So I slept till 8:00 am; I woke up and checked the theme then went back to bed again. Finally I woke up 12:00 am! (That’s too late even in this timezone). So I had breakfast and a shower and then set up my tiny “studio”:

My Studio Image

Now I’m ready to start Ludum Daring! I already have an idea cooking up in my mind so I’ll start working on it right away. I know I’m late but I’m gonna do this anyways!

I’ll be using Unity (game engine), GIMP for the art, Audacity for the audio and Notepad++ for the code!

If you’re interested you can follow me on Twitter (@MizoTheDev) or Tumblr (@mizothedev as well) or both (I would really appreciate that). I’ll post all the LD updates there starting with this one!

I hope everyone has fun and I hope everybody makes something great out of it.

Good Luck Everybody.

Working on Space Conquer! 8 hours to make this so far. Working on polishing the core mechanics and the style of the game!

Map Progress with Wall Detection

The map has been laid out and wall detection is in place. Also, the passive baddies have been divided into random groups that move on different heartbeats. This prevents them from all moving at once and creates the illusion of random activity.

Update #3 We’re awake!

Good morning everyone!
It’s currently 8:34 am and we’re up and ready to go!
Josh is currently on a morning run (and it’s 35 degrees Fahrenheit outside, he’s crazy).
Dan and I are at our computers ready to get this show on the road.

Though we’ll probably get some breakfast of some sort when Josh gets back. Then we’ll get this show on the road.

Have fun everyone!

LD 37 – First update

Last time my friend and I participated in LD, it was Ludum Dare 34. Time to rectify that.

So here’s a small sneak peek into our game called DMG CTRL:

Progress #1 – Prototype

This is my first time entering Ludum Dare. So, after 4 hours since it started, I hadn’t found a good game idea which made me nervous. But, hey! Did you know that old Nokia Snake game perfectly suits the “One Room” theme?

Yeah, that’s what I am making. I think snake is suitable for beginner like me. Of course, the game I will do won’t be complete rip-off, but more like upgraded new Snake!

For last 2-3 hours, I did some coding. Which I am basically done. Now, I’m gonna just throw some arts and that’s it.

Here’s how it looks, right now.

Progress#1

Hello from Moldova. We’re in.

Hello everyone. It’s nice to see you all again. We’re in and we have something in mind. Let the fun begin.
We will use:
Engine: Unity3D
Gpx: Sai
Level editor: Tiled
Google docs to keep notes, tables and other stuff in easy access.
Good luck everyone! We’re expecting to see a lot of awesome games.

6h Update

So we’re 6h into the jam, we had to squeeze a pizza into that time, and a visit to the grocery store to get some energy rich goodies. But now we’re in full speed again. I will do an status update for myself, and my buddies Emil and Roland, me and Emil will share some screens, but Roland will pass this time around as he want’s some more meat on the game before sharing.

Glenn update:

I’ve started to get basic movement down for player (keyboard and mouse controls for now) and a simple seek AI for the enemy. I also have the projectiles from the player, and they collide with the enemy. Up next is to get some health logic on both enemy and player, as well as projectiles from the enemies. After this I will work some on spawn logic for the enemies and after that I’ll do a basic graphics pass so that the game is ready for next level. Here’s a screenshot of the very early game:

Emil update:

“Amazing stuffs… Noo, don’t write anything” says Emil, well, he got a murky shadow mist thingamajig going on, of Dooooom!

Roland update:

“Life sucks, uhhh, I don’t know, this is hell” Says Roland. Hehe, he seems to enjoy himself at least!

That’s all for the 6h report, hopefully we’ll have some perdier shots to share next time around, and more nfo from the guys! Hope you’re having a good jam thus far! Cheerioz!

Antiroom?

Some Progress

Core gameplay still far from complete.

Hope that I can finish it in time…

We have a concept!

So after deliverating me and my friend for many hours, now we have at last agreed for the final idea we’ll work on.

I’ll start fleshing out the details before starting coding and my friend Roach is focusing on the art concept.

Progress has been made!

A little update about our game for now:

We’ve decided to implement a local-pc multiplayer and I’ll start with it right after posting this post.
Also collision and hitboxes are fully implemented now and work all perfectly.

A little preview of the progress in our room:

The game is going to consist of multiple smaller games in rounds and a player can win points by winning such minigame, while still everyone is in the same room.
The real pain in the *ss is going to be the music, but we’ll look into that later.

Thanks for reading!
