Ludum Dare 37 December 9–12, 2016

Muiiip muiiip muiiip !

I have been really busy this week end, so I’m participating to the LD by segments of a few hours.

Here’s what I’ve managed to do so far :

First time prototyping in 3D, and happy of what I’ve done !

Long night ahead

A pyramid has been discoverd on the moon, wanna check it out?

Yarg! The backup plan

Darn it. I'm super disappointed to say it, but we are going to do official submissions on the old site.

http://ludumdare.com/compo/

I've made compo participants wait long enough, and I'm not rested enough to figure out the problem I'm having right now.

So after I get some sleep, and we get through Compo Submission Hour, I'm going to see what I can salvage. For those that are curious, here's a snapshot showing how I was working around compo/jam submissions (with 2 publish buttons).

I'd like to still stick with my plan of doing a test run of judging next weekend, so I'll probably invite folks to re-submit their LDJAM games. I just wish I could have made it work this weekend.

I'm sorry folks! :(

Finally completed the level itself…

I just have the main gameplay mechanic to finish off, which ties into the name: Memory Lapse. Because the game is being played in one room or one level, every time you reach the exit, the level resets. Each level reset makes certain platforms or traps invisible. The number of invisible objects increments each time the level resets, slowing increasing the difficulty and also to test your memory.

too late to start, hopefully I catch up

Finished my Procedural Music!

I made a soundtrack for my game using www.abundant-music.com/  , a procedural music generator.

I’m quite happy with the result but it took too long to make. Check it out:

It took about 2 hours to make and then I wasted 1 hour more to make it loop with Audacity. The lesson is we should always practice with all our tools.

Reload & shoot

Finished with shooting mechanic, well except the bullet trail thing : ) Excited about killing fiends soon : )

Also played a little bit with light volumes to make more “night mood”.  Do you like this light or light from the previous pics ?

Mechanics and puzzles finished

After finishing the mechanics, the three puzzles were less work than expected. I am a bit tired now, so how can I cheer myself up? Maybe some happy tunes from Steve’n’Seagulls? Yay!

Intro and final screens are next…

Death Room – A game about wheels!

Hey guys, let’s show ya our progress o/

We are creating a game about a “room of bloody wheel battles” (no pvp yet D:). The images above are some pieces of the interface (menus) and concepts that shows our protagonist (a desert punk girl <3)

Protagonist and Art
Interface
Screenshots and Prototype (soon)
More concepts because we love concepts (soon)
Model Sheet (soon)
3D Models & Texture(soon)

Pose 3 colors
Personagem Variações

Next post we will show some prototype’s screenshots (maybe gifs too, I hope so XD)

Final touches

After a weekend of hard work now we are doing final touches, music, SFX and fixing some bugs.

We all are tired but satisfied with the result.

Progress?

Yeah, so, not much done with the graphics as of yet (gonna be a long night), but the mechanics are starting to look like something!

I did the basic mistake of trying to do things much fancier than necessary, and ended up rewriting a lot of the stuff, so there went the first 12 hours of the first day down the drain. Safe to say, no streaming for me in this hurry.

Since the game works in sequences, I decided to change things into running everything through nested Coroutines, which is something I haven’t really done too often. Also, Mecanim StateBehaviours are a handy tool I didn’t really remember existing.

So mostly I’ve been doing the general things under the hood. Next up is the stuff that makes things look less crap. Oh yeah, sound design and music too. God damnit.

I really hoped I’d have enough time to create some special shaders and FX for this to really get the vision through, but I reckon we’re better off just going with the basics here.

Dungeon exploration Game for Messenger

I’ve been working on a dungeon exploration game with random fights and possibly some item hunting in the future that runs on facebook messenger.

Richt now my motivation is down, I also did some work today… So I thought I’d share my progress.

ezgif.com-28c99400a1

There is a lot more to do like making the fights work, rendering the map and the rooms on the server, collecting items etc.

So I guess I will take it to the jam. probably my only choice anyway, because I have to go through approval to open it up to the public.

If anyone is interested to test, just send me a message and I can invite you as tester

Yea, sounds like a lot of work

Progress Update#3 – Lag

Hello, there. My game was lagging too much and I spent nearly half of the day to fix it. Well, I was able to fix it, but now my code got so ugly that I don’t want to work on it anymore. So, I’m gonna add menu and some real levels(bottom pic is just test level) then I will straight work on sounds.

For anyone not familiar with what I am making, this is Snake game with multiple Snakes, kinda.

Here, it is already midnight and I have school tomorrow. So, I need to sleep. Since this is my first LDJAM, I was really inexperienced and I couldn’t plan my time effectively. Now, I have to get this game done, quickly.
