Ludum Dare 37 December 9–12, 2016

God mod : )

Testing shotgun animation

Music

I made some repetitive music for my game! I probably won’t have time to make it any better. 😛

Finished! Automatous Room Builders

Try the game out here!
On the web version, click the game, then hit R to lock the mouse!
The windows download is below the web version on the Itch.io page!

Last dare I barely submitted on time, and due to finals and other constraints, decide to do a nice relaxing dare and make a more simple concept. I think it has promise as a more fleshed out puzzle game with multiple levels,  but the single room kind of kills that! Please leave a comment and let me know what you think! I hope everyone had a fun dare, and can’t wait to play everyone’s games! Good Luck!

Survival Horror Fun

The artist on our team just realized that we have 1 extra day to work on this.

Means more time to add polish.

Still trying to hammer out the lighting.

Just finished my game, “The Room”. Now I’m currently making my splash image, and icon.

Crossing the line in time! Yay!

Phew… My game is done.

I’m exhausted, my head hurts… but it was all worth it ^^.

I hope you guys will like it.

Good Luck for those who haven’t finish yet. =)

Play Professor Killalot!

this looks like super crate box :/

2nd day is over!

Well, I don’t know if I can call it “a day”. I worked less than 6 hours on that, since I had school, work and many other thingies to do. So, I’m a bit frustrated by not having a lot of progress since yesterday, but I’m trying to comfort myself by saying “Well, you didn’t have enough time anyways. No matter how things work, your game will suck”.

But, I did manage to get quite a lot things done:

  • I made nickname choosing and randomizing work, now with player names above characters
  • Solved some bugs in the multiplayer system
  • Made Myst boxes and magical defense shields (YAYY! Finally got to that)

Planning on making tomorrow:

  • Improving the Myst boxes and making attack power-ups.
  • Making a UI to show what powerup you currently have
  • Kill log maybe? Or leaderboard?
  • Instructions video (Probably the most important of all!)

A screenshot from the current working game (multiplayer, time, attack, defense):

progress

No, this is not the time to rush for the comp.

Ok. This is enough for today.

I had originally intended this to be for the compo, but I’ll give it one more pass tomorrow and submit it to the jam.

The pacing needs to be polished better, most plot threads (if you can call them that) are currently left dangling, and a throughout spell check is still to be had and.. lawd jezus dat css color scheme! Cry

The game got a lot darker than I thought it would be (in an odd sort of Coen brothers-way). There are some things I want to sleep on before considering this one done.

Just chillin’

Well yes, I could be animating, but the couch is just too comfy :) chillin

About the game, it’s going pretty well, it is our 3th entry and by far the most ambitious. Specially for the programmers, we are implementing new mechanics which they have never dealt with: rhythmic gameplay, fever-o’meter, multiple gravities, a disco floor engine (which they call “The Feeder“, sounds scary but is actually not) and quite intricate animator paths.

All and all a lot of work, stress but very satisfying 😀

Bad Paddle – Submitted!

I’ve submitted my entry. It took 6 hours and stands as a decent proof of concept. Some will call it a pong-clone, but I think it does alot to expand on the concept. While I wish I had more time to polish it, it does well enough as is. Please give it a play and let me know what you think. Good luck to all the other devs, and happy hunting to all you players.

Update

So, I will probably not finish in time for the compo, not sure If I submit it as it is.

Here goes, some spoilers and all:

haha cool

btw. I’m pretty sure you should be able to use embedded gifs here if you upload it somewhere else :)

Just sth like this: should do the job.

ORBA about ‘finished’

My OneRoomBattleArena has now got the basic gameplay sorted but only works with controllers! Bit of a problem as you also need more than one to play the game! I’ve also only managed to add the Mage and Ninja classes as I was having problems with AOE damage so scrapped it completely. Hopefully I’ll be able to add some music and sound effects before the deadline.

Small Update

Enemies now chase you through the physics-enabled environment.

The grey gradient visualizes the shortest path to the player from any given point.

It seems unlikely that I will make the compo deadline, due to a late start and difficulty finding an idea to go with.

One Hotel Room: Submitted!

screen1

Submitted my game to the Compo, yay! One Hotel Room is about managing a single room hotel, you need to change the properties of the room to fit the customer’s background information :)

This was a fun exercise, I’ll probably do this next year too!

The game is also hosted on Itch.io

2nd Day Update

We are a little bit over a halfway done. Almost every mechanic is working fine. More mechanics and imrpovements will still be added.

You might say a space rpg is too ambitious

And you would be right. However, taking a lot of inspiration from FTL, my game is starting to take shape. There is combat, star traveling, and trading. All while being in one room. My biggest concern is that the gameplay isn’t satisfying and the lack of polish. Some hours left and I think an upgrade system, and some TLC this thing might just come together.

The Mailroom: Submitted!

Screenshot from 2016-12-11 17-35-37

Finished a little early, not bad to say I’ve never touched Lua before.

It’s a game where you place conveyors to route coloured packages to their respective truck. It starts easy, but gets pretty hard quick.

Here is my entry: The Mailroom
