Finally done

Finally I am done creating the game. It’s my first time joining LD. Unfortunately, the game is not yet complete (no audio, haven’t included a story, so many bugs, etc). It was really hard creating a game on your own within 48 hrs, but it was fun. I hope you’ll like it :). I’ll really try to finish this game sooner or later.  hahahaha

Success!

Wow I went trough my first LD successfully. It’s been a really fun event and I feel satisfied with the result even if I could not add all the things I wanted and cut the game short.

I Dit it!

I got it posted yesterday but was to tired to make an update. So here it is.

Finally done with my first HTML5 game.

Lessons learned:

Test with different browsers and check that the methods are compatible with the most common browsers. I’m looking at you getBoundingClientRect().x >:(

Balancing time for art, sounds, and programming is hard, and debugging takes a big chunk of it.

Jams are still awesome.

Try to beat my time!

I decided to see what time I would get on one attempt, here you go!

Also, if you get stuck this video is helpful.

Notes to myself

Lessons learned:

  • ok, I can make a game in 48h
  • my first composition of dark ambient music, yay!
  • it is not good, if small touch screen size makes it harder for the user to control the character
  • I still don’t like development for Android 😉

Elevator staff simulator 1932 v1.0.1

That’s it. I’ve take this as far as other practical obligations allow me. This was originally intended for the compo, but the original ending was so bleak that I contemplated not submitting it. After sleeping on it I decided to add an alternate ending and make it a jam entry instead.

This is probably my strangest LD-entry so far. I await your reactions with a mixed sense of curiosity and dread. Who, Me?

Peekaboo I’m done with you

Submitted game Peekaboo I Duck You for Jam. Made it with @nastasia_taran basically in two days. I’m not happy it’s not finished but will do after LD.

Anyway LD is always super fun. Can’t get enough of it. Congrats to all for submitting, good luck and have fun playing!LD37-Win64-Shipping 2016-12-12 19-32-28-58

Didn’t quite make it

I know, I know the Jam isn’t over, but I need to work today, so I’ve given up. Here’s about all I got working:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/59900676/LudumFur.webm

Just a character running around and a spider chasing. What I wanted to do was have a dungeon or maze or something full of treasure, but filled with poison gas. You would start in a room with a filtering machine, and have to connect up pipes and flip levers and such to clear new rooms, but only one room could be filtered.

Here’s a timelapse of the weekend’s efforts:

Stuff I learned:

-Building indoor maps in art programs is terrible
-How to copy animation around
-Fix crotch areas before mirroring or suffer a crotchsplosion
-Spikey fur makes a cool diseased look
-Unity’s animation editor can fix problems, but then you lose them as it doesn’t save

A side goal of the weekend was to test out the fur plugin I’ve been helping with. It worked really well, and I even used it for some longish hair, which it isn’t really designed to do. I also found 3 minor bugs to fix so mission accomplished!

Finished my game !

Finally ! To everyone who hasn’t finished yet : keep up, the end is almost here !

That happened to me too. Just retry the link but without the http:/ part. That should make the box disappear.

Want music in your game ?

EDIT : I probably won’t be able to work on much more than what has already been said in the comments regarding how much time remains, sorry :/ Good luck for the jam still !

Hey jammers !

Sadly, I have not been able to participate this time, but I am still willing to help ! How so ? Maybe I can make music for your game. I know, I know, it’s a bit late, but any help…helps (I hope).

Tell me about it and if your game inspires me (which you shouldn’t be offended about if it doesn’t), I can work something out. Ask me in the comments and I’ll keep you updated.

You can listen to what I do on my SoundCloud page before asking, just to check if you like it.

If you want something serious (several songs, music on a bigger project), reach me at my email address jorsitska@gmail.com !

Anywayz, good luck for the jam, only a few hours left to make something awesome ! 😀

Hey there! We need a track for our game, it’s essentially a pixelly survival game where you’re a time-travelling robot switching between killing sci-fi soldiers and velociraptors with a push of a button. It’s set in a cave in the past, but when you press Z you switch the future where it’s a lab. Fast paced and twitchy, you can see one of the outdated gifs on my journal for an example if you like.

We are making a game about medieval Executioner. His work to torture and execute the royal prisoners. And he need to find balance between not going insane from his work and keeping country of rebellion by spooking citizens and justifying cruel reign of his king.

Hey, I’m the artist for Tempus Machina and I’d like to award you a trophy for taking part in our game! All I need is your favourite colour! :)

Whew… I’ve made it

Even though I thought I’d be able to get more story done, it was quite challenging to even complete that part I’ve made. So, the game is short, and it really needs more content in it, but not now.

UNH4CK3D Home Page screenshot

I present you the UNH4CK3D, a web-based hacker simulator game. Its web-based nature enables it to have an in-game browser, a player for YouTube music and makes it an easy game to play without downloading/running anything. It also has a realistic terminal emulator, yet its true potential is to be revealed in some later versions of this game.

Jam Failed

Well, I ended up scrapping my initial idea for this Jam on Saturday evening, realizing that I just really didn’t like the direction the project was going. I started on something I thought would be small and quick yesterday (Sunday), but that ended up morphing into grandiose ideas that would probably take a few weekends to build, so I went out for some drinks and board games with friends. Maybe I’ll be more invested with the next jam and it’s theme (no work going into it today as I need to make an income). Anyway, I think I will continue working on the idea over the next few evenings/weekends and see what happens. Looking forward to checking out what the more inspired of this community were able to come up with this weekend.
