LD27 August 23–26, 2013

I’m in for the Jam!

Finally got the chance to participate again. My last LD was an awesome experience, working as a developer for the industry this is a great chance to produce something %100 from passion and creativity. I was thinkking about an excuse for not participating in almost two years but there is no one really!  Though everyone has thing to do after a tiring week, one must focus on what one truly love, and i love creating stuff and materializing something from my own mind, with its own unpredictable results!. And all of this, suddenly in a weekend, that’s awesome.

This time (we) will attend the jam, only for 48hs though, and i’ll be participating with a friend and stop-motion artist called Ivan. On the technology side, GIMP for graphics, FL Studio for the music and Unity will be our choice assembling everything.  No time to deal with last time engine bugs (ughh)

The best of luck to everyone!

TAW team for the win !

The TAW (Thomas, Antoine, William) team is in :)

Yesterday I started laying down some OpenFL base code I don’t know what kind of game we’re going to make, but I’d like to have some scene- and object-management logic down before we start 😉

I’m one of the two main organisers, with Gaeel , of the Montpellier (France) Ludum Dare gathering – we’ve just closed the sign-up form at 26 participants: this weekend is going to be epic :)

Montpellier Ludum Dare 27

You can find Gaeel “we’re in!” here. As for the TAW team, read on to find out a little more who we three are specifically 😀

Thomas

Thomas has worked as a visual effects supervisor at In efecto – he’s a pretty badass 3D artist: you can see some of his work on Youtube and Vimeo.

We’re going to make him work in 2D though, because we use Unity every day at work and we’re sick of it. This should be interesting!

Antoine

E-Virtuoses prize

Antoine has a PhD in Computer Science, owns a small serious games company and makes short films in his spare time (read: he doesn’t sleep much).

His hobbies include running, hitting people (martial arts) and being under-dressed when accepting awards at conferences. Antoine is good at keeping the big-picture in mind, so he’ll be project lead – though he’ll also being doing a good amount of programming as well (he better 😉 )

William

eggz2

As for me, well I just make games and organise game-making events 😉 I’ll be working on design and programming, additional art, sound and music. This time we’ll be using OpenFL , and I myself will be using the following tools:

  • GIMP
  • Audacity
  • SFXR
  • Renoise
  • Sublime Text

I’ll also build a timelapse as usual (using scrot and ffmpeg), but you’ll have to wait until after the event to watch it 😉

Good luck everyone, see you on the other side!

Yep, I’ll have time after all, and the weather here* isn’t any good, so I’m in, and maybe this time I’ll actually complete an entry**.

I’m looking forward to it!

Allegro 4. I APPROVE.

base code im using for LD27

https://github.com/Panamax/LD27-BaseCode

In this git there is a VC100 visual studio project which contains all the code for my framework.

There is also a pdf file FrameworkDocumentation.pdf which shows people how to use my framework, if they wish to understand how the code works, or to use it themselves.

This is going to be my 2nd LD, I can’t wait! It’s going to be heaps of fun :)

I’m In! Ludum Dare 27!

I’m back again for my 5th consecutive Ludum Dare!

Here’s what I’ll be using:

Code: Game Maker 8.1 or Flashdevelop depending on the game idea

Art: Inkscape and Paint

Sound and Music: sfxr, Audacity and likely Propellerhead’s Figure app

I’m super excited, can’t wait to start!
Good luck everyone!

Here we go again…

I’m in. Last attempt was a disaster so this time I’m making the simplest, tiniest game II can possibly make.

Flashpunk, biro, paper and a scanner will be my tools of choice.

Good luck everyone!

This is going to be awesome

This is my first time participating in a game jam and quite frankly it’s been a long time since I have tried to make any kind of game (all of which have gone unfinished/unplayable till now). So expectations are high on finishing something, be it as small and simple as needed, but finish it I will :)

I’ll be using Unity + Blender + Gimp.

Good luck to you all!

My 2D GameFramework for the Ludum Dare

Dear Ludum Dare Community,

this is my first time thinking about participating the Ludum Dare. Some people I know join this competition regulary. So I started thinking about what can I do? Which platform I will use? Which programming Language will be the best support? After thinking a while and take a look to my games I developed: C#, XNA and my developed Game Framework. Therefore I am supposed to make a blogpost about my GameFramework to use it.

Basically my Framework is a well-designed Framework to make the life making even more simple. It contains the following features:

  1. An Extended Game-Class derived from Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game simplifying initialization
  2. Integrated StateManager with smooth, animated Transitions
  3. Helper classes for interpolation, Event-Management
  4. Simple GameObject communication system (OnCollision, ApplyDamage)
  5. Helper extensions like getting center Origin for rendering a whole texture
  6. Spritesheet animation class
  7. Ninepatch rendering
  8. Extended Input methods for Mouse and Keyboard
  9. Particle System
  10. Depth-Based Rendering System

If anyone interested I would provide the library without any limitations. Feel free to ask me!

Best Regards

TrommlBomml

I’m in!

I’m in for the 6th time!

Language: C#
Framework: XNA and my framework GB2D which I extend from Ludum Dare to Ludum Dare.
IDE: Visual Studio 2012
Graphics: Gimp 2.8 and SpriteFont 2
Sound: sfxr, Otomata and iNudge

Here is the game I made for the last competition:

The Prospector

Anyway, have fun!

I’m in!!! +Unity question

Hi everyone!

This is my first Ludum Dare. The only proper game I’ve finished so far is pong…

pong

But rather than using Java and the standard libraries again I’ve decided I want to try making a 3D game, using a proper game engine. I haven’t had long to muck around with my new tools, but hopefully I can get something finished. Regardless, I’m going to be learning a LOT this weekend! :)

Tools:

  • Language: C#
  • Engine: Unity
  • Graphics: Blender, Paint.NET
  • Audio: Guitar Pro 6, Reaper, Bfxr (May or may not use all of these, but it can’t hurt to list them all)

Question: How are we expected to make Unity games open source? Do we just upload the C# files, the entire Unity project, or is there an export feature that I am unaware of?

Anyways, best of luck to everyone! Hope some great games are made! :D

I am in!

Hello Everyone!

This is going to be my 3rd time taking part in Ludum Dare. This time I’ll have one major advantage, it’s called “Creative Hangover” here in Finland.

Here is list of tools what I’ll be using.

Language: Java

Libraries: Code from my old projects (Too lazy to make a library for LD) Old Projects can be found here.

Tools: Eclipse, Paint.NET and srfx

new Luck(LD27.GOOD);

I’m in (again)

Will be using the remnants of my unfinished warmup game as a base, probably. Forked it into a public repository for any who wants to see: https://bitbucket.org/visibleatom/ld27

Using Unity, Gimp, and whatever sounds can be auto-generated by free tools on the web because I’ve given up on trying to make things sound good :(

Code base

Here’s the code base I would like to use: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13662030/weekendcodebase.zip
Most of it was made during the warm-up weekend. It creates a window, animates a sprite on screen, randomly creates a map and plays sounds.

Sign me up!

Hi there. I’m another LD newcomer who’s finally decided to get involved after catching the bug from previous Pirate Kart and GMCJam events. I’m planning on aiming a little lower this time and actually possibly getting my entry finished even, following a bit of a disaster with my last Jam.

Tools I’ll be using

  • GameMaker: Studio because why not
  • Paint Shop Pro 9 because I still can’t accept what Corel have done to my poor PSP : (
  • FL Studio because I’m never going to have the time to crack out my guitar, you lucky people
  • BFXR because beep boop

Best of luck to everyone taking part, should be a good one.

LD27, I’m up in you so hard right now

I see a lot of these posts, but didn’t see a requirement for it in the rules, so I’m not sure if this is necessary, but it can’t hurt. I’m working on my first for-profit indie game at the moment, and this seems like a welcome break/distraction. I’ve never LDed before, but I have binged and made entire prototypes in a weekend before, so this seems like a fun challenge.

  • Language: Java
  • Libraries: LibGDX
  • Tools: Eclipse, Photoshop, Audacity, bfxr

Most of the themes seem to have a lot of potential; I have high hopes for this. Anyway, enough rambling, good luck and happy coding.

Take away the ++ and it’s the One True Combo. (ignoring the fact that I also have an .it playroutine I use)

First timer joining here too.

I’m somewhat new to gamedev and after quite a few unfinished projects I’m looking forward to do this to get something out there.

I’ll be using Unity, Blender, Photoshop, Sfxr and probably Audacity.

Can’t wait to get started!

This Ludum Dare is the 1-Score and 7th, and My Final Votes are In

I’m not one of those people who chooses one theme to rule them all and downvotes the rest. I don’t think doing so is a bad idea necessarily, but that’s not my way. I have cast my votes, though, and here they are. Now I go to eat, drink, and be merry, hoping that tomorrow will not leave me wishing I’d been a bit lighter on the drinking.

Ludum Dare is here again!

And, as is traditional, I’ll be making an LD game for this month’s entry for OneGameAMonth. I may have a few extra time pressures this weekend, but I should still be able to get something playable within the 48 hours.

As usual, I’ll be using either Lua/Love2D or C#/Unity3D, depending on whether my idea needs to be 2D or 3D. I may also end up using some of my old publical.ly-available framework source code from my older Love2D games.

Personally, I’m hoping for 10 Seconds as the LD theme – I’ve already got a vague idea for a turn-based time-travel strategy game. And I’ve no idea what the current state of the Tower Defence / Tower Offence debate is, but whatever happens I’ll still see if I can put in a tower somewhere that you have to defend/offend somehow.

Good luck, everyone!

Count me in !

i'm inMy 9th LD… And still excited like for the first one :)

This time I’m back in the Motion-Twin Factory and will code in nearly perfect conditions !

I will work with flashdevelop and Haxe

For graphics : Graphics Gale

For music : my own tool VMML if I go retro, or maybe sunvox or pixitracker

here are my libs

If you didn’t try VMML ans still looking for a music/sfx editor, you can check my previous post !
