Try torrenting my LD28 warmup project

http://192.241.216.120/ld28/ld28-warmup-2.0.zip.torrent

The zip is 6.2 MB, and has a SHA1 of 9eb073a219d856631ad22e0de0bec3459bdfa9e3

0

I finally fixed most of the problem with filesize in Qt 5 deployment, and dropped from a 14 MB zip to 6 MB. But I still want to try using torrents to get a faster download than HTTP alone.

Don’t forget to press “Q” to quit.

I’m in for my second LD48!

I’m planning on participating in the Ludum Dare 48 hour competition for my second time.

I will be using:

IDE: IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition

Language: Java

Framework: LibGDX

Graphics: MSPaint, The GIMP

Sound: BFXR

Good luck to everyone!

I feel surprisingly related to you ^_^ I use the same IDE,Language,Framework,Sound tools 😀

Gogo!

I’m in!

Hi @ all,

this will be my first Ludum Dare :-)

I will use:

Engine: Gameplay 3d

Tools : Gimp/Blender

Can i use Assets from opengameart or must i create my own assets ?

Are there other participates from Germany ?

Third Times a Charm?

This will be my 3rd Ludum Dare. I entered #22 (Dec 2011) and #24 (Aug 2012) however I was unable to finish in time for either. I have made a lot of games over the past year for game design classes and have also been studying up on programming techniques, so I feel more prepared then I have in the past. I am really motivated to finish this time as the past two challenges I entered were followed by disappointment and I would like to feel accomplished after working on something for so long.

Planned Tools & Environments:

HTML5/Javascript using the CreateJS libraries and a little bit of jQuery

Art

  • Flash Professional CS5
  • Zoë for sprite sheets
  • Possibly Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5

Music and Sound

  • Bfxr
  • Finale Songwriter 2010 (If time)

Use of CreateJS could possibly be a terrible idea, as I’ve only just started using it. I’m hoping to spend this week in between studying for finals learning the libraries; hopefully that will be enough time. Good luck to everyone that’s entering!

What makes a game fun?

Fun. Simple three-letter word. But it means different things to different people. The games I like, you hate, or vice versa. But there are games that are liked by a lot of people, and disliked by a few. Apparently, these games have some kind of broad appeal that talks to a lot of people. But why?

I’ve spent a bit of time thinking on what makes a game fun. The best Ludum Dare entries I’ve played have not been the most graphically polished (although it helps, of course), but they were the ones that were just a lot of fun to play.

One of my friends pointed me towards the blog of a Magic designer Mark Rosewater. He posted an article with ten points on making a game. Of course his column will always have a Magic-bias to it, but I think there are some interesting points to think about when creating a game. And fun is just one of the ten points, most of it is about good design. Hmmm…..

http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/mm/174

Is this the end-all to what makes a game fun? Of course not. I’m not even sure that creating a game that counts as fun for a maximum amount of people is even a good idea. But I do think that being aware of what you are making and making conscious design choices will make for a better game. Hope the link above can inspire some people to think about design and make conscious choices!

This is really good stuff and something to seriously consider! Thanks for sharing and can’t wait to play your game :)

I’m in o/

I’ll be making a game in Haxe/Flash + OpenFL, for the compo this time :)

Language: Haxe 3
Target: Flash (maybe Android too)
Libs: OpenFL (and I’ll recode my lib)
IDE: Sublime Text 2
Graphics: Inkscape/Gimp
Music/SFX: MML + SiON

Awesome! I probably can’t make this one, but have been learning Haxe/OpenFL/Nape physics for a couple of weeks and they’re amazing to work with :) @cwkx

Let me give this another crack

I failed horribly last time, but I remain confident, well I say confident perhaps ‘hopeful’ is a more apt word.

Tools and whatnot:

  • Google Dart for code
  • Pyxel Edit for the art
  • ??? for sound (Any suggestions?)

I’ve been fooling around with Dart for a week or so and it’s pretty fun to use. I’ll be utilising dart2js for the ‘final’ product so it’ll end up being HTML5.

Great! Someone else using Dart :).

I’m in!

I’m in for the seventh time,
sorry, I have to rhyme,
because it’s Christmas in the air,
oh yeah, it’s time for Ludum Dare!

Did I said Dare?
Did you get stuck?
But I don’t care,
just give a… :=)

Now I have to introduce,
which programs I will have to use:

Language: C#
Framework: XNA and my little framework GB2D on top of it
IDE: Visual Studio 2012
Graphics: Gimp 2.8 and Spritefont 2
Sound & Music: sfxr, iNudge, Otomato

And in the end,
I want to share,
on what I spend,
last Ludum Dare,
my time:

(Furnitorture)

(The Prospector)

I just started,
three weeks ago,
my indieventure,
you have to know:

(The LootCastle)

(it’s even based on a previous entry,
yes, I’m perseveringly,
oh god,
this was a weird word*…)

We will be busy as the bees!
Yes, busy as a beaver!
And guys – please,
don’t vote theme Bieber.

And if you want to share your titter,
yes, I have twitter!
(@StevenColling)

*this rhyme was awkward

LD Already?

At last I can finally participate in another LD… work and life have gotten in the way of the last few events.  It’s been a while since I’ve done any heavy programming so I’m not entirely sure how this will turn out, but it’s a good way to start my holiday vacation!

Tools, etc:

Engine: Unity3D (C#)

Plugins: Daikon Forge

Sound: BFXR

Graphics: Paint.Net, Gimp

Other: Caffeine, Pocky, candy canes, a lot of music

Well why not.

Themes looking really good, so why the hell not. Really hoping its the genetic theme, got some killer ideas for it.

Tools

Coding stuff: SDL (C++)

Art: Paint / GIMP

Sound: pulseboy

Do you have a github repo I could bookmark so that I can check out the code once you’re done? I’d like to view the source as I’ve been playing around with SDL lately.

My second LD

Hi,

LD 28 will be my second, I hope to make a more finished game than last time :)

I’ll use haxepunk, pinta, sfxr and tiled.

Good luck to everyone !

I’m in and will be livestreaming again.
Maybe this time I won’t mess up the timelapse either :)

Language: Java
IDE: Eclipse
Framework: libGDX
Graphics: GIMP
Sound & Music: AudaCity and my microphone!
Timelapse: Chronolapse
Streaming: OBS

It’s gonna be a great start into my vacation from work. See you in a few days!

Sadly I’m Out

I was really looking forward to LD28.  Nothing like having an excuse to programme something fun!  Unfortunately I’m now going to be away this weekend, so will have to give it a miss – but at least it’s for positive reasons… I have a couple of job interviews coming up (:

Enjoy yourselves in the compo, and may the best game win!  See you here again next time (:

I’m In!

Intro:

This’ll be my first ever Ludum Dare Compo, and I am psyched! I’ve been working on one project for a long time, and I’m just starting to get into Game Jams on the side. I participated in DVColgan’s Look What I Made Weekend, and received some decent feedback… That said, I’m looking to blow my entry to that compo (Which I thought was pretty good.) out of the water, and make something really cool to ring in my Ludum Dare career if you will.

Tools And Such:

Game Maker: Studio Pro – “Code”

Paint.NET – Pixel Art

FL Studio/FamiTracker – Music

Bfxr.net – Sound

Open Broadcaster Software – Streaming

Daft Punk Albums – Inspiration/Working Music

I will be streaming the entire process @ Twitch.tv/0Creds, so stop by and say hi if you’d like to check out my game. Thanks.

I’m in

Hello everybody, I will join the ludum dare compo once again! It is my 9th time, I believe. I will use

There is a list of ideas for the first voting round over at my blog. I’m excited, let’s do this!

I’m a bit in.

Actually, I’m a lot in. So far I don’t know what theme I *am* hoping for, however I know which one I’m *not* hoping for – “Bieber 4Evar <3″. PLEASE NO ANYTHING BUT THAT!

I’m considering writing my game in html5 but I only half-know javascript etc. So I’m not so sure yet. (dart also looks good but I know that even less than straight javascript!)

So if not html5 I’ll probably be using java again either with no libraries or possibly OpenGL if I’m doing some complicated thing.

also:
– Eclipse.
– Sublime text 2.
– Paint.NET.
– Photoshop.
– Sfxr. Bfxr (just noticed it’s better!).
– FL Studio 11.
–  Audacity.
– My microphone.
– Some other stuff I’ve forgotten?

kthxbye.

I’m In

So I’m going to be doing the compo (during exam week, so this should be fun). The tools I’ll be using include:

-Java

-LibGDX Stable

-Garage Band or Audacity

-Tiled

-Inkscape

EDIT: Admin here. It’s fun to get emotional about themes, but death threats are not tolerated here.

I’m in Nr. 1 … no, it’s 2 … actually 4 (or is it number 5?)

I think 5 it is, time goes by pretty fast …

Anyway, I’m going to use the same tools as every time:

Blender Game Engine
Gimp for Textures
MAGIX Music Maker

Maybe I’ll try to do a board game this time, it’s still a game. (Though I’m concerned no one would play it)
In this case I would youse Gimp, a text editor and some paper to build a prototype.

I tried hard last time to come up with something interesting, but it took me a few hours before I had a final design, so this time I’ll stick with something simple like I did in my first LD (where I got my best rating so far …)

i’m in with LibGDX

I realized that the libGdx framework is really popular around the ludum dare community. I’m in with the libGdx to learn the framework.

Language: Java

Framework: LibGdx

IDE: My old and faithful Eclipse

Graphics: Paint.Net

Sfx: My microphone

Note: WHAT IS “Bieber 4Evar <3”  theme slaughter is not working???
