I’m definitely in

Hey there,

my 3rd time, so going to be in. Looking forward to it, thou real life is a bitch this time. Still will try to do my best!

Will try to make it a simple Java2D game, after my HTML5 things last time were not really that fancy.

Greetings,

Xatulu

I had to do it

You’re what’s wrong with LD.

I’m In

So, I’m in again, for my sixth LD.  So, as to my tools:

Game: Stencyl

Music/SFX: PxTone/Bfxr

I look forward to another awesome weekend of making games.

Pretty much my toolset too!

Our Toolset & A Word from the Artists

Alright, so everyone seems to be posting about the stuff they’re using, so I may as well share. The IDE I’ll be using is FlashDevelop, writing in Haxe and using OpenFL and probably HaxePunk; I’ve been meaning to learn that for a while and total panicked immersion seems like a good way to go. I’ve used HaxeFlixel which is sorta similar, and FlashDevelop has great code completion, so I’m not too worried about being out of my depth.

All art assets will be created by my kids, as I mentioned previously. We’re not sure if they’ll be drawing on paper that I scan, or if I’ll just turn them loose on Paint.NET. They might use Android paint apps; the second piece below was done in Serious Paint.

And now, I turn it over to my kids, who have decided the team name, their handles, and some promotional art. First, my eight-year-old son:

Our name team name is SMILEY WORLD :) :)

awesomefl

MY NAME IS BURNING TIGER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE ALL OUR GAMES ARE FUN AND THEY MAKE EVERY BODY PLAY THEM.

Now my younger son, who is four:

My name is BURNING WHEELS. I’m 4. I drew that guy.

flame burning hand

That’s all he had to say. Good luck in the jam, folks!

I am in I think

This is a very busy time of the year, but I think I am confident enough to try this again, only with LÖVE and not SFML. So my tools are gonna be (as of right now)

LÖVE
mtPaint
bfxr (probably)
Some libs, like AnAL.lua

it will all be hosted at https://github.com/stepvhen/ludum-dare-28

I’ll have more definite starting materials in a bit.

I am so in.

Alright, I’m in. Here are my tools:

Löve.
Vim.
The GIMP for graphics probably, although I might make some real art and scan it.

Good luck everyone!

#NOKILL #LD48 CHALLENGE

I hereby issue a gamedev challenge for you all. Can you make a game without any killing? Can non-violent games be fun? Are you creative enough to think of more interesting interactions? Try the #NOKILL #LD48 challenge! =) Spread the love!

Lets do it!

Mmm, the majority of my LD games are non-violent… Last time I actually challenged myself to make a game with combat. It wasn’t that fun I guess.. I think non-violent games are easier to make.

But.. but… I already have plans for violence in my game! I have other games with no violent interactions. Why this one?

Finally an alternative subtheme that isn’t lolrandom foolgarbage like “potato”.

I support your initiative but cannot partake! :)

I’m in(ish)

I’ve done a few mini’s but this is the first time I will participate in a regular compo. I doubt I will get the full weekend, but I will try to complete something.

Engine: custom built using cocos2d-x(native), angelscript, chipmunk physics, enet, and a few other open source libraries.

Tools: visual studio 2012, geany, graphics gale, custom animation tool, sfxr, texturepacker, physicseditor, and notepad 2.

Hey! I’m in!

My 2nd go at Ludum Dare. This time my objective will be, not only to finish a game, but to have good playability and level/screen design. Maybe I’ll even try to draw some characters instead of just dots and boxes!

Tools:

Framework: HTML, Javascript, CraftyJS
Text editor: Kate
Graphics: GIMP, Inkscape
Audio: Somthing that will create audio for me :). Maybe Autotracker or Otomata; bfxr or af3sfxr.

Good luck to everyone!

I might be in..

Can’t wait for this next Ludum Dare. I’ve been looking forward to it since the end of the last one. Only problem is, I have to work for almost all of next weekend. I want to compete, but I’m not sure if I’ll have the time. Maybe I’ll do the Jam, instead. We’ll see.
Tools:
Unity
Blender
MonoDevelop(Javascript)
GarageBand
Paint

Also I might use some of these scripts:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/127283941/Scripts.zip

Even if I can’t compete next week, I did make a warm up game. I did a short remake of The Legend of Zelda for the NES. It’s not quite finished, but you can check it out here:

Happy Jamming!

The Fourth Dimension

Say, who remembers 7DFPS?

Been there, done that. Sorry Sos for totally stealing your bandwidth.

We can totally do this a second time.

I’m not sure what I’m going to do, or if I’m even in, but I should be able to upload my entry if I end up doing it.

Considering a C + SDL + OpenGL + sackit + Lua combo.

More details once I’ve lulled it over.

My assertion: I’m in!

Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/kodewerx

Assuming I can get my live streaming setup working on OSX, I should start streaming around 6:00pm PST Friday. I don’t know yet what kind of game I’m building, but I will be using:

This will be my first LD48, and my first live-stream event. It promises to be full of hilarity!

I’m in!

Hey Ludum Dare! I’m Zanzlanz and, once again, I’m in! Whoo!

Before I write my post, please check out Texture Tiler. It’s a website I made to help you guys test how well your images tile! Just paste, drag, or upload the picture to see how it tiles. 😀
TextureTiler.com

So, I’m hoping to go for the compo, but I have a family thing on Sunday so if I run out of time, I might do the Jam just for the couple minutes of extra time. Hopefully I can pull off something neat!

My past LD games (newest to oldest):
Convey
Just Shapes
Dragon Boss
I’d Change the World for You
Lab Lights
Human Apocalypse

My spaghetti:
Flash AS3
FL Studio
GIMP
Audacity

I’ll stream with:
Twitch.TV (My username is Zanzlanz!)
XSplit
SoundCloud, or Spotify
audiorepeater.exe for my voice…?

Here’s a bunch of code I may or may not use. Fell free to use it! Any credit is appreciated 😀

I (Should) be in!

Unlike the last several competitions, I SHOULD be in this time with nothing there to really mess with me. Finals will have finished and I SHOULD have everything turned in. Further, I won’t be house sitting, I don’t believe that I have any engagements (Though I might have guests at some points) that are pressing. I won’t have to worry about the animals I’m taking care of being dehydrated or the dogs getting sick due to age.

Perhaps even more importantly I’ve actually spent some time learning how to work the UI system that I’m planning to use. Most of my prior attempts at the LD have failed due to me not providing a UI which caused them to be more of simulations than actual games. I created a game for an HCI class (Human Computer Interaction) I took this semester and spent a great deal of time learning how the UI system of LibGDX works, even down to splitting their example UI Skin into is component parts so that I can generate my own texture atlases and include it.

Platform: My Dell Laptop (Windows 8, yay)

Language: Java 6 (Targeting Android as well, hopefully)

IDE: Eclipse ADT Verion

Library: LibGDX

Graphics: 2D gimp and paint.net, 3D Blender

Sound: Probably http://www.nosoapradio.us/http://abundant-music.com/ and SFXR or BFXR

Sing A Song Of Participation

First the important part:

Screen Shot 2013-12-09 at 3.37.23 PM

So, let’s talk about tools.  I usually don’t really stick with the tools I say I will use, but somehow I keep listing them anyway.

  • Unity3D, but I’ll be using the nifty 2D mode!
  • Gimp – anyone have any good suggestions for graphics editors on OSX?  I swear I feel a guy who re-releases MacPaint II will get rich.
  • My phone’s audio recorder and any noises I find around the museum.  Or, bxfr.  Or, Audacity.
  • git.  I haven’t tried git with the latest versions of Unity3d, but supposedly, they play nice now.
  • I might also try to use Twine and follow these directions, because that’s awesome.

Let’s talk about plans.  I expect Bieber to become the new potato (or goat) (or nonviolence) so I will include Bieber no matter how you people vote.  I also plan to be in the jam this time, not the compo, since I have discovered that if I can borrow an artist, my games don’t look quite so horrible.  I still won’t take more than 48 hours – I have to go to work on Monday!

If I really have my stuff together, I’ll be streaming our progress.  This might be just an image of the museum carefully pointed at none of us because we are all too shy, or it might be pointed at someone playing video games instead of making video games, or I might even have it set up to take snapshots of my desktop (note to self – no watching B̶i̶e̶b̶e̶r̶ ̶m̶u̶s̶i̶c̶ ̶v̶i̶d̶e̶o̶s̶  porn this weekend).

Or, I might just get drunk and pass out on the museum floor.  If that is the case, I’ll submit the photo as my entry and listen to you all complain about poor gameplay.

But more likely, hopefully there will be another entry I can add to my growing log of games I’ve made!  I perhaps haven’t entered any of them to http://www.onegameamonth.com (hey I’ll go do that now, I only made about six this year) but you can find them all at http://laaph.com .

woo!!1!!one  Beeber fore evah <3 ^_^ woo0~00oo~~!!!!

In for the first time!

Finnaly got the courage and enough skill (at least I hope so) to join Ludum Dare competition.

The themes are looking super cool, ideas are flying already so I am really excited for this!

I will be using:

  • Unity + C#
  • Gimp
  • bfxr or something similar
  • Abundant music or something similar

Okay, So I’m (We’re?) in.

So this dare will be my second. I participated in LD27 and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I did it myself, and while I didn’t get a lot of recognition I did complete(enough of) a game to submit and it was a huge confidence booster. This time ’round I might be going for the Jam with a friend, however he is undecided whether he wants to participate, so for now we will see what happens. Regardless these will be our tools:

Engine: Unity3D (wiff 2D tools? :3) paired with the newest Monodevelop cause it’s so purdy.

3D art?: Blender

2D art: Photoshop/Gimp

Music: Depending on if we have a team. This field is undecided. Maybe cgmusic, that turned out well last time. :)

SoundFX: Still not sure here.. Maybe some free assets. Not sure.

tl;dr: Such indecisive, much not sure, wow.

Guys. Gals. Bieber 4 Evar.

Because then it’s totally legit to turn Bieber into a Lich. Looking for love. Trying to sing with the voice he traded in for eternal life.

Obama’s Ludum Dare Keynote?

Okay, not really, but the timing is awfully good. And he talks about making games. That’s probably as close as we’ll ever get.

Enjoy. :)
