First time doing Ludum Dare, and I’m in!
I’ll be using Java w/ Slick2d.
Paint.net for images.
Not sure on what will be used for sound yet.
This is my first LD48, and I am really looking forward to it. My main goal is going to be to finish the game which shouldn’t be too bad but we’ll see, and here’s that list of stuff that I will probably be using:
Engine: Unity
Language: C#/JS
Coding: Mono and/or Visual Studio
Modeling: MagicaVoxel
Art: Probably Paintbrush & Photoshop
Sound: cfxr, might magic up some music in GarageBand.
OS: Windows 8.1 & OS X Mavericks
I should be streaming the whole thing on Twitch so you guys can watch me fail. I haven’t really messed with Unity that much but I’m fairly confident with C# so that shouldn’t be an issue, but for my prep I will make sure I get some time messing with Unity so that I know what I’m doing.
I’ll be in again with Flash or Unity blablabla
GOGOGO !
I’ve never done one of these competitions before. I have a bunch of other plans this weekend but I’ll see what I can make! The themes look really interesting.
I also realized recently that the best way I program games is not by designing the whole thing out but rather just starting to program something and see where it goes from there. I like simulations. This will be good to get my creative juices flowing again after doing contract work for almost 3 years solid.
I still haven’t decided between Unity, Haxe (which I’ve never used) and Stencyl. Anyone have thoughts or recommendations? I know js, as3, C#.
The LD one year ago was my first one and this will be my 3rd weekend in a row doing a game. First one was for the Mini LD, second one was for the warmup weekend and now LD28!
I’ll do a HTML5 game with Dart (as I’ve always been doing).
I’ll use: dartemis, dartemis_toolbox and simple_audio. Additionally I will use a little library I made to get me started on developing the actual game faster by reducing the boilerplate code I have to write (gamedev_helpers still adding a few things before the LD starts).
Images will be created using GIMP and packed using TexturePacker.
Audacity for sound.
Also: #NOKILL
back at uni I used to make modding tools for Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun. Models were voxels, and I made the voxel editor:
And these 13 yo exes run under wine on osx today
Gives me fresh enthusiasm for LD 28!
There’s more pics and descriptions of what I found on my blog: williamedwardscoder.tumblr.com
This is my second time in ludum dare, first time round I made my game with unity, this time round I’m hoping to go slightly more advanced and use C++ with SFML2.1 I know some basics with it but have only been using it for a week. I may however change my mind and use the new Unity3d 2D tools as I am yet to try that out. It really just depends on the theme and what Ideas I get for it.
for sprites and any other images I’ll use Gimp2.8 for music I’ll use FLStudio.
Hope it goes well. best of luck to everybody
I’ve done jams before, but this is my first time going solo, looking forward to have a lot of fun with this!
Language: Java (Swing)
Libraries:
Content creation: Aseprite / GIMP, SFXR, Tiled (If I need it)
If the theme is something I can work with I’ll enter.
Code: HTML5 Canvas / Javascript.
Art: Pinta, a lovely simple tool.
Sound: GarageBand for music, BFXR for sound effects and Audacity for any editing.
Here are my little Javascript helper libraries that I’ll be using. Just some initialisation boilerplate and some maths for games. Use them if you like.
I’m in! Yay!
Tools:
Language: C++ or Java
Libraries: SDL 2.0 or LWJGL
Graphics: GIMP
Music: GarageBand, Sibelius and Logic Pro in some order
Sound FX: CFXR
Good luck, and have fun
Polar
I’ll be entering the Ludum Dare for the second time this weekend. Heres some stuff:
Engine: Unity with C#
Graphics: Paint.net
Sound FX: SFXR and Audacity
I’ll be streaming the whole deal at: twitch.tv/jecba using OBS
coffee and candy will ofcourse also be used 😉
Hey, my name is Capitals and I am getting ready to join the solo competition this year. I have watched some people live stream their submission for the last 3 years and I am finally good enough at LWJGL and Java to be able to program a game in such a small amount of time.
My toolkit:
My third LD. If all goes well, my friend VMD will join me for content-creation and we will enter the compo.

Eclipse – Coding.
Bash / GCC / Gnu Make – Building.

When I was looking for LD27 videos, finding only gameplay videos, and separate the from timelapses, summarizes etc. was a bit hard.
To prevent this, what do you think about creating common Youtube playlists, such as LD28 timelapses, LD28 gameplay teasers etc.?
We may even create a Youtube account that is commonly used for videos and maintained by a reliable guy (I don’t know exact people around here tbh), but I may also collect the videos by myself to add some playlists.
What do you think about it? How important YT videos are for Ludum Dare?
I’m totally stressed as hell with schoolwork and stuff, but wth… I’m in!
I havn’t really had time to prepare any new basecode for this Ludum Dare, so I’ll base my new game upon code from my last entry.
Final code for my last entry can be found here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ixjeqf0x3uxit2r/sMUlokFPoq/Sunny_Potato/Game/Code/MCL_Version1_1_src.zip
Which I based upon the basecode found here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5770542/Sunny_Potato/BaseCode/Dist.zip
As my last entry was on the theme Minimalistic, the code I did for that game mostly was general stuff anyway – I think it’s fair too use it as my new basecode, ripping out all game-specific stuff, of course. Any objections?
Details:
Coding in C/C++ and SDL.
Will officially only support Windows as platform, but the game should work fine via Wine for Linux/Mac OX users.
My name is Bumblefish, and this will be my first time in the competition. I wanted to compete in the last jam, But I wasn’t good enough. I will be dropping my current project for three days to compete.
Art: Gimp 2, Blender 2.6.
Sound: Milkytracker, SFXR.
Code: AS3 using Flixel and Nape libraries.
I will also be using these three classes needed to use flixel with nape.

Hi All,
We’re a team of 2 from Southern California. We have some past experience in the compo but this is our first team attempt. We will hopefully be entering something not terrible in the jam, that is our goal. Very excited to get going, good luck Everybody!
Editor: Unity2D
Coding: Monodevelop C#
Art: HexelPro, InkScape
Sound: SFXR
Hearing that the Ludum Dare this time is on a better moment in time in December and also gotten some better tools to work with, let’s get this party started 😀
This will be my third consecutive LD (fifth total) and I’m very excited! The last two times I’ve used GameMaker (which is great for game jams), but this time I’m changing to something new!
Platform: Haxe and OpenFl (flash as primary target).
Base code: I have some classes that are available on GitHub, but it is nowhere close to complete at this point.
Editor: FlashDevelop
Graphics: Most likely Pickle, but could also be Gimp or Paint.Net
Sound FX: Bfxr
Music: Pixitracker most likely
Timelapse: Chronolapse
And protodome. all the way man.
last time i listened to noisechan and nugget: adventures in chiptunes. that was a fun time
