LD28 December 13–16, 2013

Are we an item? Girl, quit playin’

After scoring an excellent #30 in Innovation with my last entry Time Rolls On – despite the fact that I did did it in just 2 hours, because all other plans didn’t work out – I’m back for Ludum Dare.

This time I’ll try to build an HTML5 game with Dart, because it’s kind of cool and a Ludum Dare is a good opportunity for me to dive deeper into it. I don’t know yet which Dart libs/frameworks I’m gonna use, but I’ll update this post if I know.

  • Programming: Dart, Dart Editor, (Sublime Text 2?)
  • Graphics: Photoshop
  • Audio/Music: Audacity, SuperCollider, Logic Pro

We’re gonna have a nice meet up of a total of 5 game devs in our apartment, so it’s gonna be a fun weekend :). Let’s do this!

Nice. One more person using Dart. Good luck :)

My beard and I are in!

I was going to be working on a robot, but now I’m making Video Games! 😀

platform: Unity 2D (or maybe XNA/Monogame and JSIL)
editor: Sublime Text 3, Monodevelop
Music/sound: sfxr and Soundation, possibly FL Studio
Graphics: Inkscape and GIMP

Last year I did the jam, this year, I’m going all out. I might try to get screen recording and whatnot going this year as well.

What I remember from last year:

  • Fewer than three mechanics(I tried to do more)
  • Feedback is important (specifically, from the game to the player)
  • Nothing matters more than mechanics
  • Gameplay, Gameover, Title, in that order.
  • Specifically, get your simplest gameplay element working(usually movement), then get a lose/win condition then work on everything else.
  • Have Fun and don’t stress
  • Sleep

Gonna just keep doing these

I’m in yet again. My submission last time wasn’t great but lessons were learned. Looking forward to what should be a much more successful LD. 😀

Engine: Unity (2D)

Graphics: Photoshop

Audio: SFXR or sampling + audacity

Really looking forward to this, just have to get through finals first 😛

Good luck to you all!

Team For The Jam?

Anyone looking for a teammate for the upcoming Jam? I primarily do audio related tasks such as music and sound effects. I use FL Studio 10 and Audacity. Some examples of my audio work can be found here – http://atlas.newgrounds.com/audio. The music from this year is the must current obviously but also shows my best work. I’ve also done music for a game which you can find here – http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-27/comment-page-1/?action=preview&uid=17363. I went by Glymir at that time which explains the name.

I don’t have time for a 3day jam… but maybe next Dare. I’d love to get a team together.

I’m in !

IIt has been more than a year since my first Ludum Dare, and I can finally participate for real. My skills have improved a lot in the past year, and I am now studying video game development in a real school. So let’s do it.

I’ll try to do the compo this time ! (But it’s not impossible that it will end with the jam…)It will be an HTML5 canvas game, maybe with the help of Howler (for the sound) and threeJs. I don’t really know threeJs, but if 3d is fine in the game i’ll make, I ‘ll try it. I think ludum dare would be the perfect time for that. (Oh, and maybe gamepadJS, gamepad are fun !)

I ‘ll write my code with codepen, and draw my art (if I need to) with gimp. Sound will be made using Bfxr. Oh, and I’ll probably some personal library (vector, colors and think like that) wihch are released here.

Oh, and I might join some of my classmate’s team for their first game jam.

First attempt

Hi, this will be my first attempt at making a game for Ludum Dare. I’ve got quite a bit of programming experience but hardly any in game design, so it could be a sharp learning curve. Hopefuly this will be the first of many.

First timer – Lets do this!

Having never been able to take part in many previous Ludum Dares due to other commitments, this will be my first time and I’m pumped. I always enjoying seeing peoples creations and can’t wait to join in the fun!

Platform: Unity 3d

Language: C#

Content creators: 3ds Max, Photoshop, Mudbox, PixiTracker (never used before!)

I’m hoping to create a timelapse as I always find them enjoyable to watch and think it would be interesting to see how often I get distracted…

Good luck everyone! Can’t wait!

I’m IN!

Just bought new PC :) so i’m more than ready for next LD!

Language: JAVA (for the first time)
Engine: JME
Graphics: Paint.NET
Sound: still looking for some good tool

Good luck everyone!

Special Competition Exemption §1 – Share and Declare

As stated in Special Competition Exemption §1:

  • Base code and personal code libraries are allowed, but should be declared and shared with the community prior to beginning your entry. To do this, make a blog post.

I declare my probable base code. It’s available for community, as it is zlib/libpng licensed, at https://gitorious.org/radmire/radmire/.

Don’t believe in what description at Gitorious says. It’s very incomplete C99/SDL/OpenGL game/engine/framework/tools.

I’m suckless.org community member. I’m trying to apply suckless philosophy to my code. Recently I was more mobile and systems dev than gamedev, but that was not always the case.

Looking forward to LD#28

Better late than never!

I am in and looking forward to LD#28. My last successful entry (LD#26) was thoroughly enjoyed by no one other than my six year old!

We’re IN

We’re in again, but not with a 2D game… we hope develop a 3D game using Unity (i know, a lot of people use Unity… i know…).

But if the theme inspired us with a great 2D idea… well… i can’t promise anything.

Here Goes!

Hi!

This will be my first LD. I’ve been a hobbyist developer for many years, and am about to see the release of my second piece of contract work, but one thing or another has kept me from entering previous competitions

As a stress-test, and to hopefully gain some exposure, I’ll be using the latest public release of my own E02 Multiplatform 2D Game Engine:

http://www.headcannon.com/E02

Crimson Editor will be used for script creation/editing. I may or may not draw on bits of code I’ve already handled with the one currently-existing E02 game for which script source is publicly available-

http://www.headcannon.com/hchc/SonicExample/

Source for the game will be provided as unprotected script and data files ready for use with E02

Because my talents lie strictly in coding-

-I’ll probably be using cgMusic if there is to be any music at all

-I may have to submit to the Jam rather than the primary competition so that I can bring my wife on-board for graphics. Either way, I/we will be using Graphics Gale

-Sound effects will probably be produced with Bfxr

I guess I’m in!

I should be procrastinating participating for this Ludum Dare, the fourth for me. My aim this time is to find a simple idea, even if it isn’t innovative, and therefore have more time to build onto the prototype and polish. I’ll be in all likelihood using Löve2D, GIMP, Audacity, etc.

Good luck to you all!

Niavlys.

We’re in.

This will be our second LD jam.

This time I will use Unity3D as a game engine, so watch out for better gameplay and more content this time, I hope not to spend all weekend in debugger like last time with haxe.

I hope we can make our way higher in art section this time.

Also if anyone here is interested in joining in as a music\sound guy, that would be super appreciated. So if you want don’t hesitate and write me at once.

Third Time’s a Charm?

Doing my third Ludum Dare here. In my first entry I was able to submit a playable game that you could actually win or lose, but no real graphics or sound. My second game was also fully playable (though pretty hard to finish) and this time had original graphics and music. I have no idea where to go from there to be honest – I guess I hope to combine the creativity of my first game’s concept with the completeness of the second.

The Awesome Power of My Imagination

My base code

During LD 26 and 27 I spent too much time coding a simple game engine from scratch, wasting precious hours I could have used for the game logic. So over the warmup weekend I took the time to put together my base code that I intend to use for my LD 28 game. It is JavaScript code using HTML5/canvas and is basically an improved combination of the game engines I wrote during LD 26 and LD 27.

To adhere to the Compo rules and to give you all the possibility to use my code as well, I have pushed my base code to github: https://github.com/ZYXer-/ludum-dare-base-code

The base code consists of:
– a basic game loop
– mouse/keyboard input processing
– image preloading

I’ve also included some of my personal libraries for:
– loading and displaying PNG fonts
– particle systems
– pathfinding (using A*)

I’m distributing the code under the GPL2 license, so feel free to use any part of it for your own project. And please report any bugs 😉

I’m in, under new management

LD28 will be my third Ludum Dare, but the first under this name.

I’ll be using the Colorado Game Classes and adding to them as I go.

The current version is 2.0 and is available here under AGPL3: http://192.241.216.120/colorado/index.html

Colorado works on top of SDL 2, Qt 5, Lua 5.2, OpenGL 2.1, and of course C++, so I’ll be using all of those, too.

I’m in!

So the vacation time I scheduled for LD48 isn’t happening, but I’m not going to let that keep me from creating something at least. This is the first time I’d planned to participate fully and I’m not going to not participate in some form just because of a little work.

Engine: Stencyl (version undecided)

Graphics: GIMP, Inkscape

Sounds: SFXR, mic

Music: None, or cgMusic.
