LD30 August 22–25, 2014

Team’s first LD

Greetings!

Real excited to be joining you for this Ludum Dare. I’ll be working in a team on the 72 hour challenge.  We needed a break from our current project, and this will be a good chance to show off this awesome group of people!

Tools:
Engine: Unreal Engine 4
Coding: C++
Graphics: Photoshop, GIMP
Animation: Spine, Paper2D
Sound: Sony Acid Music Studio

Team:
Art:  Billy Frolov
Animation: Joshua Ouille
Design: Zach Jones
Programming: William Zinda

This is our first game jam together, so we’re looking forward to conquering this, like a fire team!

I’m In!

Well, I have just started my new game for Warmup “Week”. Instead of the weekend. I need as much practice as possible. I will be livestreaming the whole development process live on twitch @ twitch.tv/roodymonster

I’m in as well

This will be my first ever Ludum Dare and I want to make it a good one. As an amateur programmer, I feel like the stress could really force me into something better than simple pong. So yeah I’m in and here are my tools:

Language: C# using MonoGame library

IDE: Visual Studio

Sound Effects: JFXR

Music (if time is on my side): Otomata, or LPMG

So, there it is. Happy Ludum Dare!

One Day!

One day I will participate in Ludum Dare it seems really fun and interesting but my coding skills such as c# are at bare beginner. I’m only 15 so when I get better I will participate but not this one. Darn slaughter seems fun.

“Only 15” the youngest participant was 9. You are not that young.

Have you looked at visual scripting for Unity3d? Like uScript (very powerfull) or PlayMaker (powerfull AND easy to learn and use!)? If you understand basic programming logic, you can give it a try.

Joining for the Jam

Heya, just posting to say that I’m in. Or rather, we’re in. This will be my first entry, so I’m joining to do The Jam with a friend of mine. We’re relatively knew to game development (we have about a year and two completed games under our belts) and we changed tools in the last six months from Game Maker Studio to Stencyl. I do the art with a variety of tools, but my most reliable is an old, trusty copy of Photo Impact. Sure, we might not be ‘traditional,’ but we’re ambitious as all get out and can’t wait to get started. I’m going to try and livestream a good portion of the development process so that should be fun for all.

Team:

  • Me (Budaniel)
  • Floata

Tools:

  • Stencyl (development)
  • Photo Impact (most of the art)
  • Bfxr (sound effects)
  • Tile Studio (supplemental art)
  • LMMS (music)
  • Audacity (sound editing)

DunGen: 2D Dungeon Generator

This is an algorithm I might use in the upcoming jam.  https://github.com/Crusable77/DunGen/tree/master

I’m in! – in an extraordinary way

Well, at the fourth time, I’m in!

…but it needs some explanation.

My state is a little bit hard, since I’m moving now, and I don’t have direct Internet connection neither. Though, my hert would bleed if I’d miss LD#30 – so I decided to check the theme at Saturday morning (since LD starts at 3:00 AM here) and to upload my game from library on Monday. So yeah, for the first time, I’m in for the jam, but I’m gonna go everything the same way.

Stuff is the same: Lua/LÖVE 0.9.0, Notepad++, Paint.NET, a lot of patience and maybe coffee.

Lets make games!

6th Ludum Dare! I still remember my first like it was yesterday.

To everyone joining Ludum Dare for the first time: Have Fun!

Tools

  • Java
  • Notepad++ or Netbeans IDE
  • Audacity
  • GIMP or Paint.NET
  • Notebooks
  • Coffee

I’m in!

turn_hat

Using: Unity3D, Pyxel, bfxr, Figure, Audacity, Procreate, Blender!
I’ll probably be streaming from twitch this time as well.

Looking forward to it! :D

The lib as promised.

I have to submit my lib to use it in the competition, so here it is! I’ve provided a small readme that barely covers what you need to get started, just ask if you have questions!

I’m In.

This will be my third Ludum Dare. I hope it will be my most successful, since I’ve been planning on it for weeks, and I’ll have more time to devote to the game jam than my two past LD’s.

Tools

  • OS: Xubuntu (I switched to Linux for the first time about a month ago and I love it)
  • Language: Lua (I’ve never used it before, but I’m planning to use it as my scripting language in larger projects, so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to get some experience with it.)
  • Framework: LÖVE (I chose this over Corona SDK because it’s totally free and I’m targeting desktop, not mobile)
  • Text Editor: Vim (Because I got sick of Eclipse and Visual Studio and decided to learn something radically different)
  • Source Control: GitHub (Source control. It’s like health insurance.)
  • Graphics Editor: Pyxel Edit with WINE (For programmer pixel art)
  • Sound Effect Generator: Either bfxr or jfxr (because I’ve always used bfxr in the past and I saw jfxr on /r/gamedev but I haven’t given it a try yet)
  • Music Tracker: Bosca Ceoil (If I have enough extra time to make a simple and hopefully unoffensive soundtrack through trial and error)

Work Station

IMAG0869

A standing desk I built out of Ikea parts. Foot stool for shifting my weight and stretching my legs.

IMAG0870

And of course, my invaluable anti-fatigue mat! It’s an Imprint Cumulus Pro, if anyone’s interested.

Obviously I don’t expect to work while standing for the entire duration of the jam. When I need to sit, I’ll work on my laptop.

I also intend to put something together tomorrow for Warmup Weekend. I’ll be posting time lapses of both my warmup weekend and my actual Ludum Dare development.

Finally A Website

So I finally got a website going. Yay for me!

It has all of my projects, an about me page (With my full name) and ablog.

CODE.THE.CAT

(And I’m not paying a single cent for the domain either!)

Warmup Weekend Progress Has Turned Out Great

For some reason my warmup weekend project has turned into a full blown game… http://www.mediafire.com/download/yx8jg7u1k9ixaep/Squares.jar

I tried running it by clicking and by command line, using the -jar parameter, and it showed an input == null exception for ImageIO.

I’m in! (I think)

I’ve been following Ludum Dare for a while now, but this will be my first LD48! It’ll also be:

  • My first game jam
  • My first actual game
  • My first inactual game?

I am working on warming up this weekend to decide on my weapons of choice. Looks like I’ll be using:

  • MacBook Air 11″
  • Language: Java (or Monkey)
  • Engine / Framework: libGDX (or my own for Monkey)
  • IDE: IntelliJ IDEA (or JentosIDE for Monkey)
  • Graphics: Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or PyxelEdit
  • Sound: jfxr, Renoise
  • Coffee, coffee, and maybe a little bit of coffee

Going to be doing the compo (48hrs), unless I need more time to finish, or I can somehow find someone to do art with me…

Let’s do this!

I’m (-ish)

For my second ludum dare, I’ll use what I had used but with extras. I hope

I can get round to competing I’m a little stressed for time,

– GameMaker (it’s not bad. Try it.)

– Chronolapse.

– Teh GIMP

– Ableton Live 8

– GXSCC

-sfxr/bfxr/jfxr (sbjfxr)

-my brain, pro edition.

I’m in, round three

LD48, hurray!

I will live-blog again on my website, smashware.com, and you can follow me on twitter @voidqk.

Platform: JavaScript, HTML5, Canvas, SoundManager2

Tools: Notepad++, Photoshop, FL Studio, sfxr

After the results are announced, I will also attempt to analyze them using my analyzer from last time.

Good luck everyone!

I’m in!

Hello!

This will be my second attempt at Ludum Dare (and at any game jam, actually). I am doing the compo once again. I actually did better than what I expected last time (1k ish position) but I hope to get in the top 500 this edition.

Computer : MacBook Pro 15″ Early-2011

Engine/programming : Unity3D or LibGDX(Java) with Eclipse

Art : Adobe Photoshop CS5

Audio : Sfxr, Audacity, possibly GarageBand and Sonic Pi 2 if my Pi arrives before the beginning of the competition

Modelling (if needed) : Blender

Planning : Pen, paper and Evernote

I don’t know if Il’ll be doing a 3D or 2D game yet; Il’ll choose once the theme has been announced.

Good luck everyone!

I’m in and quite excited

This will be my first Ludum Dare. I will be using HTML5/JavaScript with my own quite minimalistic and incomplete engine (…a bad idea :D)

  • Language: JavaScript
  • Editor: Sublime Text 2
  • Graphics: Paint.NET
  • Sounds: Bfxr
  • Game design: Pen & Paper
  • Hosting: Google Drive

In order to use my engine is need to share it, so here it is. It’s not really an engine, it’s just a small code base to structure my code a bit. You can use it if you want, but it will probably not help you 😀

I will try to participate the compo, but if nothing works after 48h I will switch to the jam.

BTW: Here in Germany the theme get announced at 3.00 am. Shall is stand up to look at the theme? Any tips?

Have fun guys! :)

I’m in for LD30

This is my first LD.  Excited and anxious.

I will be using the following tools:

  • ENGINE – Unity 4.3
  • ART    – PyxelEdit, GIMP
  • Sound – Audacity
