SUPER HEXAPONG

LUDUM DARE 35 IS OVER!

My game is Super Hexapong! A retake/reimagination/reshaping of PONG with the shifting polygonal elements of SUPER HEXAGON.

HERE IT IS – Go play it now!

Title

This LD, I tried to focus on polishing a simple game. I think I did that pretty well – gameplay options, volume control, nice little effects and stuff. About 70% of the code is polish.

Oh, and there’s something a little secret in there for people who mess around a bit – maybe you’ll win some Steam games for your efforts?

Under teh Wire

Got it done and uploaded just in time!

I went with the very creative name of SHAPEshiftSHIFTshape for my game. It’s a twist on the classic infinite forward motion style of game. Be sure to take time to practice shifting shapes on the title screen!

A sort of embedded rock-paper-scissors shifting mechanic

A sort of embedded rock-paper-scissors shifting mechanic. Might do something with this in a future game.

SlimeShift – First LudumDare

Hey people, first try at ludum dare, a very simple game made in unity.

I got a later start so I rushed a little bit.
You control a slime that can shapeshift (arrow keys).
When you get hit, you spawn little slimes. But if hit by the wrong ball, you spawn an evil slime.
Normal slime + blue ball = Good.
Slime with hole + black ball = Good.
Everything else is bad to hit.
The “?” in the mainmenu tries to explain some rules.

Now to try and sleep :s

I AM SO FREAKIN EXCITED AND I NEED TO SLEEP SO BAD

It is DONE!

I present to you Figurophrenia, a game about shifting!! And yea there’s shapes alright too!

Oh and do you like Hotline Miami? Because this, my friend, even though it lacks music because of life and time, this is Hotline Miami inspired! Which means I meant for it to be creepy and I may have failed totally, which could just give you a laugh anyway so just test it will you?

Good night!!

Done!

I finished my compo entry just in time. It’s a first person manufacturing game. The goal of the game is to get in the groove and manufacture your quote of widgets as efficiently as possible. When you’re done, you get a score card. There are 5 shifts to work, each one getting more complex.

You can get it right over here:

I managed to get some decent visuals in, but I am not super happy with the sound design. It was rushed.

I also wanted to add more flourish to the manufacturing parts and raw materials. The plan was to make marshmallow models for each part, and each widget, but I ran out of time.

Can’t wait to play your entries :)

‘Pillars of Life

Lots of iteration happened these last 14 hours. Didn’t take the time to write up any blog posts because I was working to the wire. Didn’t get audio, but I’m happy with the graphics I was able to rush out of illustrator in the last hour. I’ll make a more detailed wrap-up post later. I might even put together a video; I recorded pretty much the whole compo. 😀

I’m going to chill in the IRC channel and recover.

Ohm My, I’m done!

Panda3D has been accounted for.

First ever attempt at a puzzle game, and I think it turned out quite well. Have a go!

Made it to the compo! (barely)

But I’m not sure about my choice. I feel like I could have went for jam and got a way better game. But making to compo was part of the challenge :)

…Challenge?

Yes. For this Ludum dare I wanted to make something different. I challenged myself to make (my first) game Engine and make a game with it in Ludum Dare compo. Since it’s so late where I live I’m not really sure if I did OK or not.

What could have been better? Most of the blame should fall on preparation. I really started to write the engine only about 2 weeks until Ludum Dare. As a consequence I didn’t had much time to look at other things  that I wanted to (like procedural generation). Also, I didn’t had the time to port my engine to Windows – whoops!

Anyway, this Ludum Dare was really interesting for me. In fact, I liked it so much that I might continue to develop this game (and my engine) into something more polished. It would be my first thing(s) that I really finished.

Give it a try if you have a Linux machine (I’ll try to get OS X and windows Cygwin versions compiled tomorrow) and let me know what you think!

Game: System Shift

Engine: Terminal play

And now, here’s the only screenshot that I made thus far (it’s still a bit small for some reason, I’m too sleepy to find out why):

I hope you all had/have a great time participating in LD35! :)

This feels FANTASTIC

That may be the tiredness talking, but I feel great. I managed to touch upon most of what I wanted to get done for what I think was a very ambitious project (well, it felt like that to a first-timer anyway). So I present…

PLATO AND THE ‘CAVES

Play as Plato, a ‘vex (convex shape) with multiple personalities. By switching between his personalities Hera, Artemis, and Oedipus, he must escape the deadly ‘caves. A roguelike adventure that changes every time you play it.

Any and all constructive feedback welcome :)

The Creation

So I managed to complete my entry, and although it wasn’t as long and detailed as I’d have liked I’m still super happy with the end result! It’s my first attempt at a “platformer” and the physics work perfectly for the most part so I’m really pleased with that.

ss2

It was also an experience on producing my own semi-detailed pixel animations which I feel I’m getting a better grasp of now, especially during the animation where the cat kills you.

Finally sound effects; I’ve never made my own before and have always relied on generated or open source sound effects, and bashing the keys to my flat against my radiator for that perfect ‘dink’ sound may well have been the highlight of my 48 hours!

So with all that being said, congratulations to everyone who submitted, to everyone who’s working, and to everyone who attempted and I’ll see all you guys in the ratings!

im done.

I mean physically,  going from gamemaker to ue4 has been disorientating. Some annoyances, some pleasures.
So many nice games though, this jam gets a lot of really cool talented people. Can’t wait to vote

PuzzleShift , A transforming puzzle game.

I can’t believe I finished. Look for the Post Mortem soon but right now its time to Play and Rate game!

You can play mine right here

Please read the description, it is chalk up of good information and if you play my game, leave feedback. I will return in kind.

Take care everyone! Good luck to those who entered the Compo!

I decided to make this game for fun in only 8 hours (I entered today), so only the first level is done. I plan to add more later, as I can see a lot of gameplay possibilities. If you have an idea, tell me what you want to see in term of level design or gameplay twist and I’ll probably add a couple of more levels later ^^
