Oh my I finished in time and I think it turned out pretty cool!
There are still some tiny bugs and there is no real win-state.
Features which are just for fun and more of those things.

In the end I grade my game more as an experience rather then a game, so I think I can get away with most of these things.

What a great weekend, and great results.
Can’t wait to play load of those games I’ve seen flying by on the blog.

Good night, sleep well.
And I will see YOU… in the morning 😉

It’s somethiiing

We are working hard (me and Spityfire)! After remaking all the programming thing, here an pre alpha with no final art, only placeholders. Uff, I’m not a programmer, but … ok, it’s hard and for me is boring, but thats all folks.

Day 2 – Izzy

Well… We have made much progress! I posted a gif of a couple animations and a small bit of art. Over the next 18 hours we will be adding the final touches (scenery, morphing (shapeshifting) between enemy types, and more animations)!

Send some LOVE if you like what you see! We have had a lot of fun so far.

Post Mortem: Pretty Smooth

couldbeworseI look back at this scrum board and think: could be worse :). Had to cut somewhere. I was already rushing the ending. So, the audio got dropped. Sadly.
But I’m super proud to actually have a finished story driven game from beginning to end with working game mechanics. Really surprised by how smooth the dev process went this time.

Went scrum style, with 4 ‘sprints’ of 8 hours. 16 hours of sleep (that was mandatory). Roughly: idea & setup, storyline & basic mechanics, detailed features (powerups, level loading), finishing story.

Streamed the whole process on twitch, was a new experience too. Had fun doing it. Mostly talking to myself, but that’s okay. Good verbal practice, and actually helps keeping focus. Definitely wont be the last time.

Would love to hear some feedback :).

Jam Progress

So, it’s a little over two days in, and I’m actually happy with a Jam attempt for once. We have all the mechanics and core stuff down, and we have tomorrow for bug hunting and adding things that we termed stretch goals at the beginning. Finally followed through with the “Tiniest idea possible” theory and it paid off. Below is a gif from DYEL, transform your wet noodle into someone blessed by Broseidon.

Barely Made It

So many issues arose near and during submission hour. First, there was 1 hour remaining and I had to make all the levels and sound. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make sound in time. Then, during submission hour, after I packaged the game up, I tested it and it turns out that half of the levels were impossible to complete. So I had to fix those and by then there were 20 minutes remaining. So I finished packaging the game up and uploading it on my dropbox which took another 10 minutes, then I went on the website to submit. When I was submitting, everytime I would click “browse” when trying to post a screenshot, Mozilla would crash. It took about 5 minutes of rewriting my entire entry and clicking “browse” until it finally worked. By the time I was 100% done with my submission, there were 2 minutes left.

A Few Questions…

So I’ve posted my Ludum Dare 35 game, Mimic.

The game is pretty much done, but I’m not sure if every level is possible. I might need to slightly tweak the levels in order to make them possible. Is that within the rules of the compo?

actually, that’s just one question…

Stupid Question

How do you rate entries?

After you’ve submitted your game, you can go here:

well I’m out

Failed pretty bad at finishing my game in time – I got stuck on creating a tool for procedural generation of the rooms for my top-down stealth game. I ended up trying to solve the problem of the hundreds of variations you can have for corner tiles in a top-down world, not actually having tried to tackle this problem. I thought it’d be neat to make the walls auto-build around rooms, and do it with proper corner pieces.

Such a minor detail to get stuck on, but I learned! I had a lot of fun working on the tool and framework itself that I decided to just keep doing that today until the deadline, and then write a blog / post about it.

I’ve written a blog post at my site about it, and will shortly post a packaged version of what I got finished for anyone curious.

You could still submit it for the Jam if you think you could finish it with a bit more time.

I finished my game in time! Not only that but this is my first game ;~;  Even though it’s short I feel really proud of what I managed to do and how much I learned! I hope everyone had an awesome weekend!!

Timelapse of my compo work

This was my first compo entry! 48 hours solo is definitely a wild ride, but it was a big learning experience and a ton of a fun. Looking forward to the next one!

Submitted! Fugitive Shift~

Complete!

I did it! I got my game completed and submitted well within the deadline, and even got a full 8 levels made. Much more complete and lengthy than I am generally able to get done. I even added some sound effects, which I’ve had trouble finding time for in past competitions.

Day 2

So many ideas with so little time to make them happen. Two days were barely enough to just get the basic gameplay working.
About 6 hours before the deadline I was wondering if I could make the barely playable version happen. Well, here it is!

Play the game here.

Finished – Butterfly

Finally completed a LD game! It’s not polished, and I didn’t have time for audio, but the main mechanic is there so I’m proud of that.

Check it out!
