Hello! It's me again. I need your help! Ark Initiative needs your help! We're both in a dire need of feedback.

As you can see on the picture above, I've been working on bigger planets. That was of requested features. I've also optimized it so hard that it works extremely smoothly even with planets this big. Oh, and as you can see on that gargantuan beast, biome distribution is now working a lot better.
There were also fixes in animal behavior. They no longer get stuck in terrain because of changing angle of gravity.
I want to implement reproduction system which is nearly done and new interface in the next update.
And it's all thanks to your kind words! Kind words are the best fuel.
Want to help me out? Drop a comment or two!

Hey guys, this was my first LD ever and I've managed to create something of which i'm pretty proud!
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/cosmic-flinger
The game is about fending off waves of enemies with your cannon. You have 3 different types of shots: A normal one, a bouncy one & a split shot. Try to survive for as long as you can!
Screenshot:

One more down. My 24th jam, if I've kept tally correctly. I think I'll celebrate once I hit a 100...
This time, once again, I worked in a team! @Cataya tackled audio and GUI so that I didn't have to! Teamwork sure is a blessing isn't it.
We got some brainstorming help from a passing guest who had no time to commit to the project proper. The background art was kindly donated to our cause by @CTTFOW who worked on a different project at the time. Any little thing helps!
3 Days, 15 hour days, yet it didn't take its toll. Seems I'm used to it by now (a few energy drinks sure help too).
The design came together in a few hours, surprisingly easily. Of course in the end all of the high-end features were cut leaving only the core requirements. This allowed us to shift gears at the halfway point away from code, to the nebulous waters of audio-visuals.
Other than design the first day was spent on architecture and features. Got the interactivity implemented on the second day and spent the rest of it on graphics (Blender FTW!). Third was mostly for polish. Stayed up till 02.30 to add in a last few assets (hats!). Totally worth it.
I also had a few RL responsibilities concerting the jam site, but it didn't take more than a few hours. I assisted others too, which took a few extra hours. You just gotta help them first timers survive.
Pretty much spot on achievement. Once again I can claim this to be my most successful jam to date! Well, the last one didn't go so swimmingly so I guess this is an upswing rather than a steady climb.
Been reviewing loads of LD entries too and ~~harvesting~~ attracting many eyeballs as a result.
We did the wordcloud meme too !
Thanks you all for your comments !

the game : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/wake-up
Who do I blame for this? .-.

I'm furiously playing as many games as I can - but I'm not anywhere near the top of the list yet (I had to start playing games quite late).
I'd love to make sure I can get a rating, so I'll keep playing games - but if you'd play and give me a rating, I'd much appreciate it - I'd love to hear what you think.
Play it here - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/antivirus

I had hoped to edit my raw capture into a nice teaser video, but that’s not happening, adobe premiere was mysteriously running out of memory. So, please enjoy my raw capture!

"like", "game", "really", I think every LD word cloud has these? Amazing!

haha get it its a bad pun on the name of my game...........

It seems people find the game difficult... challenging, hard, and difficult were three of the most common words.
People also liked the particles and the highscores, which I was hoping for.
Pretty happy with the reaction so far :)
(btw I pruned it to remove words like "game," because that's no fun :)

The last week of judging is here!
Run for your lives!
But seriously...
The last week of judging is here, and I have a suggestion. Let's all look for games that have little to no comments and play them during this last week. Let's support those who get little feedback and help them get more than 20 ratings so that they can place alongside us. Comment games you've seen that need some love, and get voting!
A world cloud based on word frequency in comments. How original...

xD Showed up in there.
Here's something unique. A word cloud of my comments(notice that I didn't use "really" a lot):

We have had suggestions about the physics behavior especially the jump.
So we change it completely and added a proper arc jump.
The level design slightly changed to make every part possible.
If you haven't play our mashup (Metroid and Mario) game yet, we highly recommend to download the post jam version(1.2).
You play inside a NES Mario head and need to find all 4 color pixel to colorize it.

If you made a mobile (Android) game I'd love to play it, comment below. If you made a mobile inspired game, I'd love to play that too, also comment below. If you don't fit those groups but have a game you want me to play well..

Actually I'd be happy to play it, and maybe check out our entry and leave a rating while you're at it.
Available on the Play Store
And on Web/Win/Mac/Linux

So, I've finally had a free couple of days to play some games and write a blog post. I'll probably do a postmortem at some point, but for now, I'd say that I'm pretty happy with how the game turned out. The jam version shipped with quite a few bugs, but anyone who plays the post jam version can see the game operating as intended!
Essentially, we made a virtual pet game with a more abstract approach to looking after your little friend: change the biomes on each of the world's segments to keep the critter alive and happy!

Honestly, the feedback we've been getting for Skylets so far has been amazing! If you haven't played it you can have a shot here: SKYLETS
We would love as much feedback as possible, we've already went through and fixed most of the issues raised so far in a new build. In the meantime, enjoy this word cloud of comments from our games comments!!!

We've gotten so many good wishes on our game, Petty Puny Planet 38, and since ~~I'm done watching Samurai Jack for the first time and I'm waiting for the next episode~~ I felt it'd be cool to share, here's our word cloud, from Whales and Games with love!

Petty Puny Planet Post Palooza:
Hope you have a whale lot of fun with the rest of the jam! Go play them games! :whale:
We're in the final week of judging, I wanted to let folks know their comments and reviews have been listened to, cataloged, analyzed, and implemented! I hope we've done a great job resolving all the issues people had with the GUI that made the game difficult or impossible for them to play! We've entitled this update the "Ancient Technology" Update, and even if you've given our little game a shot before now, I hope you will try it again!

Part 1 of the Share The Love Drive! This drive will take games that don't have enough ratings to place and promote them so we can all revel in the ratings together! Here are the first three that have come to my attention:
Rougelike One by @guitarbro and team

Please play these games, rate them, and comment yours if you don't have enough ratings!
Spread the word!
Share the love!
Like some others I decided to try making a word cloud; looks like I got carried away with it... coincidentally clouds have a lot to do with my game! Thanks to all who have played Gaia so far, you give priceless feedback! You can still give my entry a shot here, have fun! Please also check my Timelapse Video! Time to play more games...
Sorry, The Curator's screenshot got messed up, and the logo, too.

I may not be the most experienced guy with LD, but in the past I noticed that:
game_final_score ∝ comment_count / vote_count
Should I worry if my game is not getting as many comments as last time? Does anyone else have similar heuristics?
EDIT: This is only my own heuristics for forecasting my overall rating. I'm not saying that this is the algorithm used by the site.
A Relatively Small World.
Also check out the Share The Love Drive.
I've got a really silly question.
I saw many gifs in here but I can't understand what do you guys use to create them. I tried Gyazo but look at the result:

Everything is too dark and the file weights too much.
After that I found someone made a gif from the same game:

Colors are much brighter and the weight isn't so big. I do understand that I can ask this question in Google, but I think developers could help me more!
If someone is interested in the game here it is - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/last-day-of-the-woods
Thank to all who will try to help!
Heya! Play my rhythm game! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/planet-energico

Sorld is a very simple strategy action game in which you have to defend your planet from evil aliens using the power of cooperation and your awesome abilities.
I would love to get feedback from you guys, since I'm planning to extend and fully develop this game in the near future. Whatever comments you have would be very helpful.
Please algo leave your games in the comments so I can play them and give you feedback.
Thanks in advance and have a great week!
I'm seeing all these word clouds. Any recommendations on a good tool to generate them? Thanks!
Music in games is a really big part! Whether you be driving around in cars, or flying around destroying planets, or hacking into the mainframe, music makes a big part in video games!
I know this is Ludum Dare, and we only had a weekend to make our games, so of course Music wouldn't be a top priority. Stuff like gameplay, innovation, and fun/graphics would probably be the best.
Halfway through my Ludum Dare game, I realized there was no way I would have time to finish. So instead of targeting gameplay with a cool fighting mechanic, I targeted 2 things: Mood and Audio.
The results are Kanjo, which I'm not asking you to rate (you don't have to if you want to, but if you really want, check it out!)
What emerged, was a sorry excuse for a game. There was no real gameplay, and the fighting mechanic was half complete, and so I had to scrap what remained.
But the music was ok :) https://soundcloud.com/flygamer101/sets/kanjo-soundtrack
If i had to say listen to only one song, definitely Tranquil.
I made a few tracks this time, but only a few stuck out to me. In total I must have spent around 5-10 hours on music, which is big in comparison to my normal 1 or 2 hours on it.
The story in my game itself isn't too bad either.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is 1. Music and mood go together, and they both compliment one another 2. Check out my games soundtrack!
Thanks (and sorry for even more shameless self-promotion xD)
Hello dear developers,
Our game still needs some love in order to get a proper score and we would love to get some more feedback too!

On a lighter note, I've just released an updated version of "House"- My 1st LD entry. This version addresses multiple bugs and introduces some newer elements. I hope you enjoy this version and all of the newer bugs that come with it! :)

P.S I've been having loads of fun playing everyone's games. I'm still working on reviewing games but don't worry, I promise to get to them! If you'd also like to add it to the list, shoot me a comment or something! Cheers!

Seems like people really liked my game which is INCREDIBLY ENCOURAGING since this is really my first 'published' game, and lots of ideas (Version 2.0 will have weapon combo... Laser Shotgun? Why not! Make it so that switching weapons never results in a 'downgrade' and fixes a number of slowdown bugs. (The current best way to get a high score is to fire the machinegun into space non stop for the first 3 minutes until the game slows down then switch to the non-bullet generating Laser... because I forgot to make the bullets disappear after leaving the layout... Whoops.)
Anyway, I'll keep on reviewing games as I have time!
And if you haven't played Meteor Mania here's your chance!

If you are gonna self promote, just do it. no word cloud needed. play my game! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/ragdoll-wars see? no wordcloud.
Oh! We're doing word clouds?! Nice, here's Pixlets.

All this week I'll be promoting games brought to me that don't have enough ratings (under 20) to rank. Round one is these 4 games, links below the image.
These are all excellent games (I played all of them except Last Day Of The Woods, so far) that really ought to place by the end of the judging period.
Round 2 starting tomorrow and going through Friday! Comment below if you haven't quite ranked yet.
Dude, what if so made a word cloud of my feedback?
You can try the game out here.
I don't even have enough comments to make a wordcloud. :slight_frown:
Come play, comment and vote on my game here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/micro-world-defense :rocket:

I really like the idea with world clouds, but it is very difficult to get comments for the smaller games. But even if our game may don't pass the 20 votes. The Jam was so much fun and we really looking forward to making our next game soon.

Sorry about the wordcloud meme I started! It seems to have taken over LD38.

I made a downloadable updated version of Small Atomic World War. The update adresses some of the major issues raised in the comments :
Overall I feel like (but I’d really like to have your opinion on this point) this update enhances the game experience a lot and balances the difficulty. It’s now much easier to win the game. Maybe is it even too easy ?
P.S.: If you have not tried the original version check out the game's page and/or play directly on itch.io.
P.P.S. : I had no time to make a new gif so the one above represents the old version and is just here as an illustration.

Hi everyone,
I really would have liked to post another wordcloud but unfortunately there are way to few feedback posts for my game ...
So please help me change this, so i can jump on the train and provide my own beautiful wordcloud =)
It's a short, web based game, so no worries its pretty accessible: Djinn Duel
Here are some animations to give you a first impression:

I humbly beseech thee to give my game a play!
Please help me to get my game over 20 ratings so I'm applicable for a place on the Ludum Dare leaderboards! :)

Description:
You are an alchemist, trapped eternally inside of your little potion-brewing kiosk - The Alchemist's Prison.
For all eternity, you are stuck inside of your own small world, selling magical concoctions to the adventurers, royalty and peasantry of the land.
Throw ingredients into your cauldron and brew them together, selling the resulting infusions to your customers as they request them!
Features:
Don't forget to leave a comment if you enjoyed it or if you have any feedback for me! :)

Bumping my game! I've been trying to play as many games as I can, but some of you are just too cool for my game to get noticed! If a couple more people can play/rate so I can get to the 20 threshold, I'd appreciate it! I'll keep playing games in the meantime.
If you are a fan of ‘good old’ adventure games, I think you may enjoy my entry. Simple story, simple graphics, not very long.
Try it if you like.

Play Until Tomorrow!
After years of programming "things" that were always too ugly to show,
after countless friends I had asked for help but never had the time,
after those who had time but left the work undone...
I said to myself: am I that bad at drawing?
Is there any chance I could make the art for my own games?
So in June 2016 I picked up the pencil and started to follow some tutorial on youtube. Unexpectedly I found myself drawing portraits of friends (the good ones) instead of game art. That was a phase I think. At some point I decided to give it a try and design some characters. (if you are curious about my art progress check out my instagram..you will find pretty embarassing things)
If I compare my work to that of a professional... there's a long road ahead, I don't have the technique and the experience yet, but
* my challenge for Ludum Dare 38 was exactly this: to produce all the graphics, trying to do whatever I had in mind without fear *.
What I learned is that weather you have plenty of time or just 3 days it's always a good idea to let your imagination go at first , without setting any limit, as you were capable of doing everything comes into your mind (this applies to coding as well) and THEN sift through what you imagined and think about things like: the time you have , what makes sense and what doesn't. This is where you "kill" ideas
The reason for setting a limit can't never be: I'm not good enough or I don't know how to do this. It's for this very reason that why we decided to put ourselves outside of our comfort zones by using a new environment (Unity) (this doesn't apply to @jabba: Jabba was in his super comfort cozy zone in his Tokyo living room, eating sushi and making music :D )
Anyway: the thing is: I had no idea how to animate a sperm tail, let alone drawing llamas in love. Mi first attempt looked more like a cow-bear :D
This is what ludum dare is about : having the chance to try something new, to figure out how to do something you never did before, to learn new skills.
So, we decided to cut many things , but never the challenging bits.
We left the gameplay pretty basic because we wanted the game to be as complete as possible. We decided to spend our time more in the enhancement of the second gameplay , we completely reworked it in the last hours. We did this just because it made it more consistent with the rest of the game. For the same reason we focused a lot on the story: we strongly believe that is the story that provides context to a game and gives the player a reason for his actions. We cut some extra feature that would have been nice, we know. but we thought: if we have to implement them sloppy because of the short time, then better not include them at all.
what I want to say here is: give it a try. Maybe you are not a Picasso, but now more than ever there's plenty of resources online to help you on the way.
Here's my process:
I realize I don't even know how game artists really work.
True game artists out there, I would greatly appreciate your advice!
*ok don't play the game below, really, just give me your advice! :D *

There's only some days left in the judging period, and I thought it's a good idea to help out those games that are close to being ranked.
This tool I made fetch games that are under 20 votes right now in 1 or more categories.
If you're in the mood for some voting, why not help those who seems to need that 1 single vote most? :smile_cat:
We the guys of the TerminAnt team have played and rated a lot of your games, but our visibility is still low . We are 5 ratings away from the 20 needed to get a score. It would be really helpful to know how much we must polish our game and our skills
Help TerminAnt reach 20 ratings! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/terminant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEMQ16uVA
When we were working on our project called "Colonized Panda", we found that our project didn't have an important part. It's the music. We looked through a myriad of different musicians and stopped on Kai Engel from Moscow, Russia.

His music from albums "Run" and "Better Way" is perfectly suited. His songs are epic and calm at the same time.
Next songs were used:
1. "Seeker" (main song)
2. "Harbor"
3. "Difference"
4. "Denounement"
Music lets us fight till the end!
You can make up an opinion about Panda here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/colonized-panda
We are really close to reaching 20 ratings, help us get there.

Here's an excellent tool for finding games that haven't got enough ratings yet, made by @avavt.
You can find it here.
Now you can play with the arrow keys or WASD! Sorry for taking so long with this update!
