I'm working on a mashup of InkTober and Ludum Dare. These are the assets I drew for the main character, and it is my first InkTober post. I'll update as I get today's put together as well. I put them together in unity and did a quick idle animation. Probably rework animation for jam.
I made a game based on my LD41 game QuickDrawTCG. I spent the last few months working on it and I've finally released it!
It takes the platformer card game idea and expands upon it. Check it out on Steam and Itch!

Last night was weird ... I literally said out loud NOPE! decided to put it away.
Then I looked back at Godot, at Unity, at Love, at Game Maker... which one to use instead?
And then I realized ... I really like my engine. A lot. It's going to be a challenge getting things ready before the jam, but even if I don't, it's gonna be more fun than using one of the commercial engines. Sometimes all you need is to have a little faith.

Hello!
My captain @yomissmar and I have little experience in video game development but we will try our best!
We are ready to have fun and do crazy things!
Hey everyone! I am joining with my friend and jam colleague -the amazing, the one- @Derbandev. Mainly, he's the programmer and I'm the artist, but we also design our games together. This is our first Ludum and, to be honest, we don't have lot of time this weekend but we wanted to give it a go anyway. The idea is to develop something simple we can be proud of... let's see how it goes!
Good luck to everybody!
i wish everyone have a fun ludam dare
Hello everyone! Welcome to Ludum Dare, most of you will be participating for the first time this Ludum Dare so here is some tips and tricks!
1) Don't Overshoot!
Most newcomers think you have to make a triple A 2 hour story title with cyperpunk graphics but no! The most important thing is keeping it simple. Here is my range:
Flappy Bird to Slender The 8 Pages
The simplicity does not matter.
2) Time is Key!
If you spend 12 hours finding a theme and another 12 making a prototype, its not going to be easy to finish the game. The first three ideas you come up with are probably the best ones. Pick one! Make your protype and DO NOT TRY TO LEARN A NEW GAME ENGINE WHILE PARTICIPATING!
3) Get sleep. just get sleep
Although 13 Monster cans can help with sleeping, the best thing that reduces sleepiness is sleeping. If you really don't want to sleep then atleast sleep for 4-6 hours. It is important. Even more important for people who go to school like me.
Most importantly have fun. You probably are not going to win but.... winning is not the point! Have Fun! Make great games!
I am really looking forward to joining again! Been way too long since last time! This will be my 9th time joining (you can see all my previous entires here http://www.salomonsson.se/tags/ludum-dare.html).
Like last time I will use C++, and the plan is to do it in the terminal as well (although, this time I'm using SDL to create a FAKE TERMINAL).
See you all on the other side!
Tools we will be using: - Godot - Photoshop - Illustrator - Logic Pro X
Best of luck to everyone!
What are some really awesome games people have seen which makes you ask how did they do that? Looking to do something interesting
this my first time and i know to make thecharchter move that's all but i will still try. what do think
We had one job. One job. That job was to take care of taking care of the egg. And we failed.
The egg will grant us no mercy and we shall deserve none.
Hey everyone, it's a been a while. But it's time again for Ludum Dare!
Before we get started here, there's one important thing I want to remind you of:
Check the clock in the sidebar for your local start time. Long story short, if you've done Ludum Dare in the past, it starts 3 hours earlier than usual. This is the new normal. April events at the regular time (9 PM EDT), and the new October events 3 hours early (6 PM EDT).
I'm hoping the new schedule is better for folks. I would constantly get complaints that Ludum Dare events always happened at exam time (i.e. every 4 months, just like a school semester). Here's hoping this makes a difference. For me it means I should be able to run better events, where the 4 month schedule was a constant struggle to just keep to the schedule. Thanks for understanding!
Speaking of starting, Final Round Theme Voting has started! Go over here and cast your vote:
:ballot_box: /events/ludum-dare/45/theme
For rules and other info, visit the event page:

For those new to Ludum Dare, the website will become slow/unusable during the minutes leading up to the Theme Announcement, so we highly recommend you follow our Twitter account for the reveal:
https://twitter.com/ludumdare
The theme will be announced when the clock at the top this page reaches zero.
Over the past year Twitch made some big changes to how they handle our Ludum Dare streams.
Here's what you need to know:

Keynoting our 45th event is KP (twitter). KP has been taking part in Ludum Dare for many years, and they put together a really great keynote for us. Lets check it out:

Many thanks KP for keynoting.
That's it for now. Final vote time!
I look forward to know the theme ...

COMPO (because, i can't continue at working monday) HTML5 + webGL, no engine, just libs. (reGL, Vue, gl-matrix)
My last try failed because, i wanted too much features. I did waste most of time onto base engine for further features... And make nothing playable at finish.
Now i want finish something, even with green-on-black-lines graphics, even with Vue interface. (If theme match some my ideas)
I have a math exam, that I'm ill-prepared for on tuesday, but I'm too hyped to not join.
This won't be the first time I try to study and jam at the same time, but hopefully it'll be the first time I manage to successfully do both (I do not learn from my mistakes).
Also switching up the usual toolkit, because my university teaches java and I thought I might as well be studying while jamming, so I'll be using: OpenGL, LWJGL, Java, Box2D in the Eclipse IDE. All of it new to me :).
I won’t have a lot of time this weekend, but I plan to find the time to make something!
I’m a full time elementary school teacher, so I’ll need to work around grading papers and programming (and spending time with family) but I think it can happen if I plan something simple and efficient!
I also have DQXIs to relax with, so I think I’ll survive.
I have a lot to do this weekend, so we'll see how this goes.
I've watched for years wanting to join, and will try to make something playable with Javascript this weekend!
Hoping for the best, expecting the very worst.
Gonna be using Godot on my first game jam. Busy on the weekend but we'll make something happened. Excited for the experience!!! Might screen record/document it.
